  1. What exactly is the premise of this thread? That it would be nice to have Deion Sanders as our coach, bringing all that talent to us instead of to Colorado? Sure, I'd have to agree with that. But he wasn't actually in our candidate pool. Same with Kirby Smart and Dabo Swinney.
  2. It's kind of ironic that Mendoza moved us to a 4-man front from the 3-man front we had been running previously.
  3. Seth was a good coach, at least a pretty good coach. The reason we moved on is because we wanted more than pretty good. One game doesn't even constitute "Exhibit A" for the jury to consider whether or not Eric Morris is a good coach.
  4. Sonny Dykes' first game his first full season at SMU was a 23-46 loss to North Texas. He ended up having a pretty good run.
  5. Neither of those picks was on Stone, at least not primarily. On one, his receiver fell down, probably due to uncalled PI. On the other, the pass hit his receiver on both hands, bounced out, and the defender pulled it away. I was impressed with the pass protection. Considering that, Stone should have looked sharper than he did. But he didn't look terrible, either. Hopefully he can improve on a game that had its hits and misses.
  6. I just hope it doesn't mean, "Whether we win or lose doesn't matter."
  7. What does that mean, "The events of today don't matter"?
  8. USF was only athletically relevant when Jim Leavitt was their head coach. Tulane has to prove that last season was not an outlier. But yes, Memphis would have been the next team in the Big XII.
  9. Honestly, if we can finally get things figured out on the football field (and improving attendance wouldn't hurt, either), we'll be higher on the pecking order than any of those other programs.
  10. According to CBS Sports, this means the ACC is no longer an elite basketball conference: https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/acc-adding-stanford-cal-and-smu-means-the-conferences-days-of-being-an-elite-basketball-league-are-over/
  11. We don't need to add anyone. The AAC doesn't have divisions. That said, I voted "Army." Not really to replace SMU, but because they would be a valuable addition to the conference at any time.
  12. Yeah, call me skeptical on that. It seems like it would be a lot easier for everyone to keep a game at home and travel a little further for the away game than to make them both away games. And then you'd have to pay to rent a facility. And then you'd play in front of empty stands. Sounds like a terrible idea to me. EDIT: Isn't this in the wrong thread?
  13. There's also the possibility that these two teams were demanding additional media revenues above the standard distribution, and that made it a no-go.
  14. With it being unlikely that any of those other teams you mention would pay the MWC's mammoth exit fees to join the AAC, we'd more likely just be left with WSU and Oregon State as geographical outliers.
  15. Adding Washington State and Oregon State would unquestionable be huge for the MWC. But they would not be nearly as much of an asset for the AAC. I wouldn't mind having them in our conference; but if the numbers don't justify it, then I understand not inviting them. We certainly shouldn't invite them just to keep the MWC from improving as a conference.
  16. 98 degrees will still feel awfully hot to folks from the Bay Area. It may actually feel comfortable to our guys, whereas 104 degrees feels hot to anyone, Texan or not. This *could* actually improve our advantage.
  17. After WKU, Zappe was drafted by the Patriots. Recently cut, I believe.
  18. I know this is being nitpicky, but I've never heard of shooting one person called a "mass shooting."
  19. It seems somewhat disingenuous to have all these SMU threads and then pretend like we're not interested in SMU.
  20. I'll admit, I was expecting that somewhere in the middle of one of Ashton's monologues, Harry was going to lead us all in "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."
  21. What a legend.
  22. Here I come! Do you think I'll pass as a student?
  23. 6-6 regular season. It's tough to predict the bowl game with no idea who we'll be playing, but I suppose I'll have to say loss. 6-7 overall.
