Very good interview. Maybe the best I've ever heard on a Mean Green-related podcast. I wonder what would have happened if he were here this year. When he first came here, everyone said his defenses always took off in year 3.

Regardless of whether he deserves more time, you do know he's coming back next year no matter what, right? And it would take some doing to fire him after next year, much less this year. The guy has a 5-year contract. At this point, we just have to hope things improve for him and his staff.

The "mid-major" designation isn't anything official. And the only reason the AAC is not mid-major is because Aresco demanded that the various "mid-major" polls not include AAC teams.

If ND ever decides to be a full member of a conference, it will almost certainly be the Big 10. Unless the ACC somehow sweetens the pot for them (SMU: "I'll do it! I'll do it!") in a way the Big 10 would be unwilling.

Skip Holtz isn't there anymore. La Tech is bad, almost as bad as FIU. If we lose to them, I will be worried. The test begins on the 4-game stretch from Navy to Memphis. We should be able to come out of that stretch 2-2. Anything better will be a good sign; anything worse will be a cause for concern.

Actually, they were looking through those who had submitted resumes, or applications, or whatever coaches submit, and were shocked to see Larry Coker's name in there. It was not any bold action on the part of UTSA, he just fell into their laps. As far as "cheap," I'm pretty sure we were always paying our HC more during the time Coker was at UTSA.

How do you know this? During a typical coaching search, A.D.'s gauge several currently employed HC's to see if there is interest. But they do it through their agents so no one outside of them knows who's been contacted. And unless you personally were willing to step up with a few million dollars, I don't know how we could have beat out Colorado, just from a salary standpoint.

What exactly is the premise of this thread? That it would be nice to have Deion Sanders as our coach, bringing all that talent to us instead of to Colorado? Sure, I'd have to agree with that. But he wasn't actually in our candidate pool. Same with Kirby Smart and Dabo Swinney.
