  1. I guess I don't get it. Maybe there are some similarities to Vanderbilt, but not to anything I would call an "elite" SEC school.
  2. The prestige of an elite SEC school? How so?
  3. You mean Brint Ryan. He's sent a lot of dollars UNT's way. I think part of our problem is that we have our reliable 17 *or so* donors that we rely on for everything. If those donors could see more big money donors coming in, it might make them more likely to step up further.
  4. If I've learned anything over the past 20 years or so about conference realignment, it's that no one has any clue what is going to happen until it happens. The ACC could very well implode. With indications that neither the B1G or SEC want FSU or Clemson, it's possible that they just decide to stay in the ACC. Or maybe the ACC works out a new TV deal that beats the Big XII. The best thing schools can do is to try to keep advancing conferences and not be left behind in an inferior conference. SMU has done that. It may not be enough, but they are almost certainly in a better spot now than they were in the current American Conference.
  5. As of now, the highest-rated commit in this class: https://247sports.com/recruitment/terrence-lewis-165612/recruitinterests/ Welcome, Terrence!
  6. I'm not sure 8 wins in and of itself convinces me he is a better hire, considering the outcome of last season. If he can accomplish what eluded Seth--a conference championship or a bowl win against a decent opponent--then I'll have to acknowledge he is an improvement.
  7. Yeah . . . no. Seth Littrell was fired for only hitting 6 and 7 wins his last two seasons. Expectations with the new hire were clearly that those win totals would be improved upon. Coach Morris might be able to keep his job one more year with a 6-win season, but his seat will be flaming hot next year. 6 wins is hardly "the step needed."
  8. I'm as Mean Green-biased as they come, but a list that leaves out Princeton, Rice, and Northwestern in favor of UTSA, Arizona State, and Colorado State deserves serious skepticism.
  9. There's a whole forum dedicated to it. Maybe one of the mods can move this thread there.
  10. The first three, you're almost certainly right. The last four, I doubt. The Big XII already rejected Louisville. Unless WV and Cincy insist on them for geographical proximity, I don't see them changing on that. And if--big if--the BXII is able to land FSU and Clemson, they'd probably be very selective about who else they would select. The B1G and SEC have indicated that they are not even interested in FSU and Clemson, although I think the SEC will probably cave. But other than UNC and maybe a couple of others, I don't see the B1G or SEC digging very deep into the ACC pool. They're watering down their conference and their revenues at that point. I'm not sure which of the other P4 conferences would be interested in NC State, Pitt, and Georgia Tech. I think they, along with Duke, would still be happy in an ACC even without FSU, Clemson, or UNC.
  11. Did Darden put up those kinds of numbers as a HS QB? The guy threw 40 TDs last season.
  12. Good question. The spelling is different (1 m vs. 2), so I'm guessing not.
  13. Looks like a solid add! https://247sports.com/player/chris-jimerson-jr-46142405/
  14. I expect they'll be favored. They were clearly a better team last year than we were, and we'll need a lot of new and inexperienced players to step up.
  15. That's usually not how it works. Usually larger programs get more money to come in for a guarantee game than smaller programs. Travel costs are also a consideration, but I believe it's a little closer from Nebraska to Minnesota than it is from Texas to Minnesota.
  16. If memory serves, it's typically the HC who arranges schedules in basketball.
  17. One would think our basketball program is at the point where we should be able to get home-and-homes with programs like Minnesota.
  18. If the Big 12 or ACC need a couple of replacements, who are the next schools up?
  19. It's very conceivable that Memphis gets invited to the ACC once Florida State, Clemson, and co. bail. But will it really be a power conference at that point?
  20. As much as I hate NIL, this is a terrible idea. It creates a situation where the better teams want out of the conference. Now if they start talking about an FBS-wide NIL cap, I'm all in.
  21. In some ways, it matters more than ever. You used to be able to find a raw, hidden gem, and then develop him. Now, that's most likely a waste of time and a scholarship. As much as I hate to say it, I guess we're going to need to keep recruiting guys like Chandler Rogers. Guys who contribute significantly for one year, then take off. Now you may be right about HS recruits, and with all the transfers now, many of them are not evaluated by recruiting services until after they sign. So our "zero points" and "zero average rating" only means our two commits have yet to be evaluated.
  22. One thing about the new situation with NIL and the transfer portal. . . . ANY school who can get a billionaire and 10-20 multi-millionaires to kick in substantially could put themselves in the national championship conversation quickly.
  23. With zero points and an average rating of zero, we're among 3 teams tied for last in the AAC. That would still not be good in the SBC or C-USA. Our most recent class (2024) looks solid. If Isheem Young can keep his nose clean, I don't think people realize what kind of athlete he is. By the time the 2025 class closes up, I wouldn't be surprised to see us finish that class every bit as strong.
  24. That may be, but where they have us is where 24/7 has us as well.
