That's the thing . . . the money is not there for most G5's, so they will be more willing to play bodybag games. And P4 teams will have zero incentive to schedule home-and-home series with G5 teams. So the P4 teams will use increasingly weaker G5 teams to have 8-home game schedules and an easy path to bowl eligibility. So I don't ever see "P4" and "G5" ever completely breaking off from each other. P4 needs G5 to avoid "destroying each other." But I do see it being more difficult than ever for G5 teams to compete with P4 teams.

So has NIL officially moved into the AD?

Only in the sense that driving 84 in a 75 is legal as long as you don't get pulled over. -

Again, that was absolutely not how NIL was supposed to work. What you are saying is supposed to be illegal, illegal, illegal. -
This guy says no: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/college-football-transfer-portal-are-group-of-five-programs-actually-being-raided-by-power-conferences/ Color me skeptical, but I thought this was worth posting for no other reason than the photo CBS Sports chose to represent "G5."

Interesting...of course, they were called the "Iowa State Chicken Tenders" at State Club. And other than the chicken tenders, the menu looks very, very different. Of course, I imagine they're catering to a very different crowd. Or, rather, the exact same crowd 30-40 years later with a whole lot more disposable income than they had in college.

So has NIL officially moved into the AD?
Mean Green 93-98 replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, apparently it is legal, because that appears to be exactly what this job is handling. But my understanding was that the university/A.D./sports program could have no direct involvement with NIL. Also, my understanding was that NIL could not be used to entice recruits, and this job involves "manag[ing] all aspects of NIL at Cal, including advising and consulting with student-athletes, meeting with recruits..." I'm fairly certain that my understanding was correct when NIL was first allowed, but it seems any enforceable rules pertaining to NIL have gone out the window. -

I would think someone in the AD who could advise student-athletes, businesses, and collectives, to make sure they are NCAA-compliant would be fine. I do not understand how this can be legal. -

This is currently pinned to the top of the Eagles' Nest: If I understand it correctly, I don't think we're allowed to discuss politics anymore. Of course, it is debatable whether or not certain discussions have veered into politics. -

Kailey Gamble Wraps Up a Great Career
Mean Green 93-98 replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Athletics
I suppose that depends on what Power 5 school you go to. I don't know how likely any of those schools you mentioned are to make the NCAAs--not very, I would think. Do you know which P5 schools were after Gamble? -

AAU membership
Mean Green 93-98 replied to Hunter Green's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I'm pretty sure we're a long way from AAU status. A&M is a relative newcomer to AAU, and very few would have dreamed they'd find their way in back in the '80's or early '90's. They might still be a borderline institution, not sure. But they are light years ahead of us. Keep in mind that a major part of why Nebraska was kicked out is because they didn't have an on-campus medical school--they have one as a separate campus. Even if we ever checked all the boxes, we'd still need an invitation. -
New High School QB Commit (to sign on May 1)

Yes, I am aware of all that, and remember when they were very good back in the 80's or so. But, as you said, they haven't been very great lately, and had pretty much fallen off the radar until a long-past-his-prime Pitino went there.

On the face of it, St. John's doesn't sound very impressive. Nothing like Rubbin going to Michigan. I looked it up, St. John's actually averaged over 10k a game last season. Many voices have been telling us over the years that we need to pick up our attendance if we want to be able to get to the next level. I don't doubt that at least played some part in losing Aaron to St. John's.

Reece Mooney and Stone Earle could be gone too

QB transfer from Liberty. -
New Mexico should have to pay royalties to North Texas for calling their arena "The Pit."

I already know about him. Deion was on him all year for his lack of work ethic. EDIT: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/from-colorado-to-transfer-portal-is-there-a-path-of-redemption-for-cormani-mcclain/

I think it's pretty clear that Deion wants a revolving door of players every year. And his best players are staying, and at least some of those who entered the portal were encouraged to do so.
