Looks like he has one year of eligibility, thanks to the COVID year: https://gofrogs.com/sports/football/roster/grant--tisdale/15414

According to this, he's going to be playing both ways for us: https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/article/jacobe-hayes-talks-about-his-commitment-to-the-mean-green-and-playing-both-wr-and-cb-234219135/

That's a little much. Our schedule isn't exactly a murderer's row, if we field a team with a comparable offense to last year and at least an improved defense. If that's the case, there ought to be plenty of paths to 6 wins, if not 8. At this point, we really don't know which teams are going to be the toughest to beat. And every year, wins and losses pop up in unexpected places.
-
They return the QB who won their bowl game last year. So he's had experience and success with his teammates. Not sure how different Applewhite's system is going to be from what they were running last year.
-
We'll be an underdog. I think SA is favored by 7 1/2, the last I saw someone posted here. They spanked Okie State in Stillwater last year, and handily won their bowl game. But no one really knows what we've got. We're bringing in a new QB, but a highly-touted QB. Coach Morris has heartily embraced the transfer portal, so we'll have tons of new faces on both sides of the ball. So if the new pieces turn out to be the right pieces, and quickly fit together, this ought to be as winnable as most of the games on our schedule.

It was Charn (forget his last name), and it was a requirement in 1994 to move up from 1AA to 1A (technically both D1).

Terrence Lewis - Class of ‘25 WR commits to UNT
Mean Green 93-98 replied to GoGreenBeans's topic in Mean Green Football
Some of you all obsess way too much about fans of others schools visiting here. We used to have a LOT more participation on gmg by fans of other schools, and with the exception of a few trolls, it was a better place when we did, IMHO. -
If they're FSU fans, they're willing to pay a little extra for a sure thing.
-
They're academically elite. And SMU isn't close to being in Vanderbilt's class in terms of academic prestige.
-
I guess I don't get it. Maybe there are some similarities to Vanderbilt, but not to anything I would call an "elite" SEC school.
-
The prestige of an elite SEC school? How so?
-
You mean Brint Ryan. He's sent a lot of dollars UNT's way. I think part of our problem is that we have our reliable 17 *or so* donors that we rely on for everything. If those donors could see more big money donors coming in, it might make them more likely to step up further.

If I've learned anything over the past 20 years or so about conference realignment, it's that no one has any clue what is going to happen until it happens. The ACC could very well implode. With indications that neither the B1G or SEC want FSU or Clemson, it's possible that they just decide to stay in the ACC. Or maybe the ACC works out a new TV deal that beats the Big XII. The best thing schools can do is to try to keep advancing conferences and not be left behind in an inferior conference. SMU has done that. It may not be enough, but they are almost certainly in a better spot now than they were in the current American Conference.

Terrence Lewis - Class of ‘25 WR commits to UNT
Mean Green 93-98 replied to GoGreenBeans's topic in Mean Green Football
As of now, the highest-rated commit in this class: https://247sports.com/recruitment/terrence-lewis-165612/recruitinterests/ Welcome, Terrence! -
I'm not sure 8 wins in and of itself convinces me he is a better hire, considering the outcome of last season. If he can accomplish what eluded Seth--a conference championship or a bowl win against a decent opponent--then I'll have to acknowledge he is an improvement.
-
Yeah . . . no. Seth Littrell was fired for only hitting 6 and 7 wins his last two seasons. Expectations with the new hire were clearly that those win totals would be improved upon. Coach Morris might be able to keep his job one more year with a 6-win season, but his seat will be flaming hot next year. 6 wins is hardly "the step needed."
-
The first three, you're almost certainly right. The last four, I doubt. The Big XII already rejected Louisville. Unless WV and Cincy insist on them for geographical proximity, I don't see them changing on that. And if--big if--the BXII is able to land FSU and Clemson, they'd probably be very selective about who else they would select. The B1G and SEC have indicated that they are not even interested in FSU and Clemson, although I think the SEC will probably cave. But other than UNC and maybe a couple of others, I don't see the B1G or SEC digging very deep into the ACC pool. They're watering down their conference and their revenues at that point. I'm not sure which of the other P4 conferences would be interested in NC State, Pitt, and Georgia Tech. I think they, along with Duke, would still be happy in an ACC even without FSU, Clemson, or UNC.

Did Darden put up those kinds of numbers as a HS QB? The guy threw 40 TDs last season. -

Good question. The spelling is different (1 m vs. 2), so I'm guessing not. -

Week One Opponent: South Alabama Preview
Mean Green 93-98 replied to UNTLifer's topic in Mean Green Football
I expect they'll be favored. They were clearly a better team last year than we were, and we'll need a lot of new and inexperienced players to step up.
