I agree--Coach Morris is generally fun to listen to. Dickey and Dodge were both pretty good at the press podium, but McCarney exhausted pretty much everything he had to say at his initial hiring press conference, and Littrell seemed to want to be anywhere else. Morris may have imbibed a little bit of Coach Leach's enjoyment with interacting with the press. No, he's not nearly as clever or quoteworthy (remember "fat little girlfriends"?), and he has his share of spoonerisms every time, but he provides more insight to the players, schemes, and the coaches' way of thinking than any of his predecessors that I can remember.

As of right now, the UTSA guy is winning this pretty handily.

Not surprising at all. It always takes a few years to implement Willie Fritz's systems wherever he goes. He had an overwhelmingly losing record his first 6 years at Tulane. It was a sellout. Yes, by the time it was a blowout fans started heading for the doors. But WVU is not on the same level as PSU. Not to mention they had something like an hour and a half weather delay in the second half after the game was pretty well decided.

That's the key phrase. And history says Chandler won't be healthy the entire season. Based on comments made by Coach Morris, there's going to be a lot of uncertainty once we have to reach for a backup. Wish we still had Stone to provide more of a known quantity at backup.

I see that as a high, and perhaps unrealistic, bar. We'll need good play from the QB position, but we really need the defense to step up from "awful" to at least "bad."
