  1. I’ve read multiple comments on this board of how UNT can’t afford to fire a coach in year 2 of a 5-year contract. However, the fact is that we have now just seen, in the AAC, Charlotte do it with Coach Poggi, FAU with Coach Herman and now Tulsa with Coach Wilson. The trend is shifting. Programs can’t afford to watch ticket revenue and overall support, financial and otherwise, fall off. Our coaches and AD get paid a ton of money to produce a quality product. This is like a sales job (career sales guy speaking here). If you don’t produce, leadership will find someone who will.
  2. Littrell’s UNT contract ended Jan. 31, 2024, so UNT shouldn’t have been paying him for quite some time.
  3. I’ve seen enough. Two years of sub-mediocre results. Poor coaching, poor adjustments, poor playing. It’s time for a completely new coaching and support staff for the football program. And this time we need to hire a proven head coach from the FBS level. No more coordinators, FCS head coaches or someone we think might be good. We need a proven leader with a proven recipe for success with some serious skins on the wall. Time to make a serious commitment to the program.
  4. Congratulations to UNT Men’s Polo! Go Mean Green!
  5. I checked the Texas State Univ. policy manual online and they do note the 10 day requirement, however they have a 5 day requirement for positions including administrative assistants, groundskeepers and janitors. Perhaps they are able to put coaches into this category somehow?
  6. The State of Texas requires state university job postings be active for 10 business days, so you will not see an announcement before that time threshold has been met. That puts it at the end of next week, assuming the posting went live on Monday morning.
  7. Pete Thamel is reporting Ra’Shaad Samples is leaving the LA Rams for Arizona State to become the WR coach and have a big part in implementing Rams concepts in the offense. He had been mentioned by some for UNT HC.
  8. Congratulations to this team…players and coaches! They did a great job on the road against a solid team! Go Mean Green! Finish!
  9. I sure thought he was done after the UNLV game, but they are a different team now. Offense is rolling and defense has really come together with some new/young guys. Much credit is due this coaching staff and these players! Proud of them! They control their own destiny! Going to support them all the way! Go Mean Green!
  10. Wren, you’ve done a great job as AD! You’ve done a great job hiring great coaches! It’s time you go to your short list and bring in the football coach you know you want to hire. We, the alumni and fans, are ready for the change and look forward to a bright future!
  11. Defense is completely out of gas! Put in fresh backups! The arm tackling is worse than seventh graders!
  12. I believe he was put on scholarship at the beginning of last season.
  13. Which sections are for UNT fans?
  14. Great interview and very insightful! Thank you!
  15. I think that making a move to the AAC is great news for UNT! And UNT making a move to the AAC is great news for the AAC and it’s member institutions! As a former university fundraiser, it is highly likely that all VIP personnel at each institution have already been briefed on what is about to transpire and have at least for the most part given their support to these moves. This includes university administrators, board members and key donors. These SMU “big money donors” that may be raising concerns are not in that key group of donors that would have already given support to this move and are really the true big money donors. People sometimes think they are the big money donors, but in reality, they are not in the group of donors giving transformative gifts to a university or other cause. The key donors that SMU and the other member schools needed to have on board in support of this move are very likely already on board. Anyway, just my opinion based on experience. Excited for UNT!
