Replay Of Todd Dodge Interview On Sw Kia Sportstalk
MarkCiz replied to MarkCiz's topic in Mean Green Football
Whoops, apparently the Chivas/FC Dallas game is on...8:30 is the time to watch. Sorry for the confusion... -
For those of you who missed it a couple weeks ago, the Todd Dodge interview on Southwest Kia Sportstalk will re-air tonight (4th of July) at 6:30pm and 11:35pm on KFWD Channel 52. The channel number varies on different cable systems, so check your listings. They're replaying it because they received a lot of emails about UNT Football since the interview originally aired, so that's awesome!

Set your TiVos fellas, Todd Dodge will be the guest on Southwest Kia Sportstalk on channel 52 (KFWD) tomorrow. It airs at 6:30pm and replays at 11:35pm. Check your local listings for the channel number, I know KFWD's number varies on different cable systems.

Poor, poor taste... As soon as I saw the design, without even thinking about political correctness, I was taken aback by the ship. I would be embarrassed and ashamed to see NT supporters wearing those shirts on game day. It has nothing to do with people getting their feelings hurt; it's because we're currently at WAR and people are getting killed. Keep "Sink Navy", lose the ship.

I agree with all the previous replies, and I want to add one thing to the list... REBOUNDS! I think the final line was Memphis 45, North Texas 35, but it seemed like we were either A. not finding a man and blocking out, or B. just not strong enough. I can't count the number of times I saw a Memphis player slicing into the paint unchecked while a North Texas player watched. Memphis kept getting second and third chances. Nevertheless, I've never been more proud of this Mean Green Basketball team and now I can't wait for football and basketball season...it's a good time to be a student (or alum) at UNT!!

I hope we can get that many people and that much green in the Super Pit next season!

I think what he was trying to say in his previous post was that it's easier for a QB to pick up a streaking white helmet at night than it is to pick up a dark colored helmet. It's a little thing, but it makes sense in my mind.

Smitty, man...you're on fire! I can't decide which wallpaper I like best! Thanks for sharing these with us!

Hey guys, to a quick little 20 second "Congrats Bball" promo that's airing on NTTV now. Just thought you'd like to see some footage of the celebration on the floor...it's not a whole lot but still nice to see. The campus seemed to be buzzing a little bit more than usual today!

There are two groups of cameramen shooting at the UNT games, Mean Green Video and NTTV. Mean Green Video's content goes on the big screen in the SuperPit and out to the Internet, too (I'm assuming, I haven't actually watched a game online). NTTV's content goes on NTTV, and is not broadcast on the internet. I don't believe there are announcers or graphics for the Internet feed.
-
I believe you're talking about the internet video that the Athletic Department streams online. That's handled by an entirely different crew that is operated by the Athletic Department. I'm not quite sure who you need to talk to about getting that, sorry!

NTTV won't be able to broadcast any tournament games because we currently can only broadcast games from the Pit. We appreciate the kind words, it was our last UNT basketball broadcast of the year (we're doing the Heartland Conference Tournament at the Pit Friday and Saturday), so we wanted to make sure it was really quality stuff... Just wanted to address some of the concerns people seem to be having. Athletics does not advertise the fact that UNT home games are broadcasted on NTTV at all, and we (NTTV) don't either. We have a promo running that says we cover all North Texas home games, but that's it. I don't think our basketball viewers make an "appointment" to sit down and watch the game on NTTV; nearly everyone I talk to who has seen a game on NTTV saw it because they were channel surfing and came across it. So it appears that the people who watch our coverage weren't going to the game in the first place. That's the Athletic Department's problem to get those butts in their seats. Interestingly enough, after talking to the people who broadcast WKU's basketball games, our sports director said that WKU's attendance numbers actually went up after their basketball coverage began. Broadcasting the UNT basketball games live is also a valuable teaching tool for the students who come through NTTV. Our ability to broadcast live puts our volunteers and students in the same high-pressure situations they'll likely face in "the real world." Believe me, if the Athletic Department felt that we were cutting their basketball attendance in the least bit, they would tell us to stop broadcasting them. But anyways...I hope our boys light up the Cajundome during the tourney!

Green Bat, every men's and women's home game since Dec. 22nd should be available except for the women vs. UNO game (you're not missing too much with that one though). I'll check with Jim to make sure they're all available and get back to you.
-
Yes, they are available for purchase on DVD. They cost $25. If you're interested PM me or PM jimbojimjim.

In the post game conference, Johnny said they expect him to not lose any time on the court, although he may have to wear a protective shield, or a football helmet as Johnny jokingly said.
-
Channel 5 had the correct score and showed Kendrick Davis' game-winner from the right corner in their college basketball highlights.

Want More Unt On The News Here's What We Need To Do,
MarkCiz replied to ScreamingEaglesFan's topic in Mean Green Football
One, I can't count how many times I've seen some comment along the lines of "If someone would buy us ___" or "If we only had _____" then... I don't know how long this has been going on, but the two times Jim's said it, he's joking. We don't honestly expect someone to buy us one. The highlights that I saw posted on YouTube from a bball game not too long ago didn't thrill me. I shook my head, because they sounded like crap. Somewhere, someone in the chain has no audio quality control standards. That has since been fixed for the next game. You have to remember we're students and we're still learning. It was an audio gain issue. We're not pros yet. One of the 'It's too hard' excuses I read earlier was how long it would take to make phone calls for this sort of arrangement. Putting aside any misperceptions of how eager these stations are going to be to have lengthy chats with everyone at NTTV... When did I ever say or imply that it was too hard to call? It was an estimate. 5 minutes to call the station, get to the sports director, figure out what format they need and call the next station. I may have been off on my estimate but I don't see why you had to use it for an excuse to go off on a "back in my day there were no telephones..." tangent. I just don't think you realize that we're students learning this medium and we just don't have some of the things you've referenced in your posts. And if you think that barking at us on your soapbox is really going to motivate us, you're mistaken. We'll motivate ourselves, and your input has been helpful in that regard. Your suggestions are appreciated and will be taken into consideration but your tactics are questionable. ...aaaaand this post makes us officially off topic....sorry! -
Want More Unt On The News Here's What We Need To Do,
MarkCiz replied to ScreamingEaglesFan's topic in Mean Green Football
First, thanks for the input and suggestions. It's all useful stuff that we'll have to talk to our operations manager about and see what we can do. Also, it's not that we don't watch our budget tightly, it's that there's not a whole lot in there in the first place. And before you talk more about how I'm crying about resources, let me assure I am not. It's just how it is right now. We're working to get more. Whatever fall-off you're talking about at NTTV isn't any fault of the current staff. We're working hard to bring people back into the station and the quality of our broadcasts (especially our sports broadcasts) are improving steadily. Criticizing us now is like criticizing a new homeowner for buying a home with foundation problems. We just moved in and we're working on getting the foundation fixed. I really appreciate your willingness to help and share your knowledge, but I don't appreciate you "calling us out" on behalf of whoever. I said in my previous post that we would take your suggestions into consideration and I explained our current situation. I don't know about every one at NTTV, but I know I personally couldn't take on that much more work with my programming responsibilities and schoolwork and other obligations. It's not an effort thing, it's a priority thing. It's not my priority to get UNT highlights on the air (I don't wish to work in the news/sports broadcasting arena), but there might be someone else at NTTV who has that priority and wants to make those contacts. That's why I said I'd bring it up at our next meeting. I agree with you though, it should be the Athletic Department's priority. I'm just a little confused about where the animosity is coming from. It was completely unwarranted. -
Want More Unt On The News Here's What We Need To Do,
MarkCiz replied to ScreamingEaglesFan's topic in Mean Green Football
Step 1: 45 mins to an hour at best to capture, order the highlights, and encode it properly. Step 2: 25 mins at 5 minutes per phone call. Step 3: We don't do Betacam SP or SX tapes; copying to DVD is the only readily available system we have of making copies. About 5 mins per copy. Step 4: We're not exactly bursting at the seams with volunteers or money to pay for the volunteers' gas. This is where we would need the most help. Total: 1 1/2 hours to make the highlights and approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes total with drive time. Doesn't seem like a lot, but you have to realize that we're understaffed, not wonderfully equipped, and we have our school work to take care of too, on top of the news/sports productions we're producing at the same time. We'd LOVE to help get UNT on local newscasts and I'm sure we'll take this idea into consideration at our next meeting, but the time/money/manpower issues involved might be a bit much. But believe me, we'll look into it! Thanks for the suggestions! -
The Women play at 7:05 on Wednesday, NTTV coverage starts live at the Pit at 6:30 and ends around 9:30 or whenever the post game conference is done. Same thing with the Men on Thursday.

All this early info is getting me all pumped up for football season.... At the UNT basketball game on Saturday when Coach Dodge was announced to the crowd, he got as big an ovation as Avery Johnson got when the Mavs had their Blue-White scrimmage at the Super Pit...so apparently I'm not the only one excited for the football season.

Did Caris Ever Thank Us For Winning The Athlonsports.com Poll
MarkCiz replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
My girlfriend is on the dance team with Caris and said that she was fully aware of the support GMG.com gave her and that Caris even tried to post on the forum, but she wasn't able to (I think the whole registration thing scared her off haha...as it does with a lot of the guests around here [REGISTER!!!]). So, yes, she definitely appreciates the time spent by everyone on the board who voted for her. -
I believe he's talking about the open forum sessions she held last semester. There were two open forum sessions within a few days of each other. They were called "Really, Let's Talk", which is funny because Dr. Pohl's were called "Let's Talk." As a current student I've been very impressed with her. I work for NTTV, and at the beginning of the fall semester we did a 30 minute interview special to introduce her to the student body. She opened up her home to us for a portion of the interview and was very kind and inviting. I also talked to her for a good 15 minutes in Austin while tailgating for the Texas game. I think she's doing a great job for UNT.

"That did not take long." OU scores... ouch
