  1. And Tech just beat that powerhouse, ACU, 52-51 in OT
  2. And UH loses at home to UNLV
  3. But they wouldn't be showing equal interest to TWU...///average Dentonite
  4. Yes, there are very little academic worries for brining over a transfer from a university as opposed to a JUCO.
  5. It’s a great article. My feeling is that if the next breakaway is to form the new level of college football to be like the NFL, then it will be a 32team setup, which will include biggest state schools with largest fan bases and stadiums. That’s these 28 schools for sure: Washington, Oregon, USC, UCLA, Texas, A&M, OU, Nebraska. Iowa. Wisconsin, Michigan, MSU, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Virginia Tech, UNC, Clemson. South Carolina, Georgia, FSU, Florida, Miami, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, and Arkansas. There are maybe a few more schools you can consider but Wilner’s point is that TV wants big names and some of these current power teams aren’t bringing value like the ones listed above. Now, could the threat of litigation from individual states get some of their power schools included still? I’d guess yes. So states like Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Maryland, and West Virginia might get some of their schools into the new league, just to appease anyone with any legal power from suing. But it will happen within 10 years, at a maximum.
  6. Memphis hasn't been back to the Elite Eight since they choked in the championship game in 2008. Since then, UConn has won 4 titles. UConn actually won the Big East in football and played OU in the Fiesta Bowl, so it's not like they have never done anything in football. This would be all about basketball for men and women and I believe Yormark is correct about CBB being undervalued, especially women's hoops, which appears to be on the cusp of becoming even more popular than it has already been. The B12 wants to be a combo of the old Big East and old ACC, where they are kings of the basketball world. And I think that is a great idea, as it brings in more dollars and eyeballs to that conference, which will always be behind the B1G and the SEC but can easily stay third in a college athletics world where the top 40-50 brands still exist at a top level.
  7. I don’t get the Vito hate. He has to cover a program that has not exactly done a whole lot to be positive about. And he reports for a town that mostly acts like UNT Athletics doesn’t exist.
  8. If we have a defense that doesn't get pummeled, we will win a close game, like 31-27. If not, I can see another road butt-kicking for the Mean Green. Like 48-24.
  9. Then why are you here? You're the least believable Mean Green fan on this board.
  10. I wasn’t surprised that game was close. Nevada is usually sneaky good at home against better teams. SMU read their headlines.
  11. It’s just not a place that cares enough about our teams. Lots of reasons, but it’s very true. McCasland built this thing up to be the best thing it’s ever been…and we average less than half capacity.
  12. The AAC is the perfect league for our teams right now. We need to show we can actually compete here in football and continue to provide strength in hoops.
  13. I’d bet that more of their students like sports, in general, than ours do. Texas State just finally had a season to get some attention. Same thing happened at UTSA.
  14. And still, that 6+ win season achievement has been ridiculously hard to achieve here.
  15. Since Corky Nelson left after the 1990 season, we have won at least 6 games in a season 9 times out of 33 seasons...Expecting more is setting yourself up for some severe disappointment
  16. SL got beaten down here, just like DMac did, just like Dickey did... The only coach we have had in the last 40 years that wasn't completely beaten down by our culture was Corky. And he might have just been a masochist, as he had absolutely nothing to work with, resource-wise. Since 1995, when we moved up to 1-A again (FBS now), we have had the luxury of seeing us enjoy 6 winning seasons--out of 29. That's 7 coaches, (Simon, Dickey, Dodge, McCarney, Chico (interim x2), Littrell, and now Morris), 4 different ADs (Helwig, RV, Wren Baker, and Mosley), 4 conferences (Big West, SBC, CUSA, and AAC), and 2 stadiums. Also, the above all occurred when a school like ours could actually KEEP its players beyond a season or two, which is now gone completely. As I've said, when we have a winning season, savor it. Because once we start losing again, it usually lasts for quite a while. Maybe 2024 will be different...maybe Morris and his new team will figure it all out and we will get to bowl again with an actual 7-win team. But all indicators--and history-- suggest otherwise.
  17. This is where I am. I see wins over SFA, Tulsa, Army, and East Carolina.
  18. By the time he had a bad season, Littrell had built up enough cred with the seasons that he had shown the fanbase that he could win with the right QB and the right OC. Once he lost Harrell, the wheels fell off, especially after Mason Fine (or what was still left of him after the beating he took) left. But by then, he had an extension and wasn't getting fired until it was deemed affordable to buy him out. And when he was let go of, we went the UNT Route again, hiring the next up-and-comer that just also happened to be cheaper to hire than someone like Odom or Fuente.
  19. The budget hire is something we almost always get or keep. I doubt Morris will be any different.
  20. Its worse for me. I made it on campus in 1991. Since then, I've seen us have exactly 8 winning seasons out of 33. We have been FCS (1-aa), FBS (1-A), played in the SLC, been an independent, Big West, Sun Belt, Conference USA, and now the American Athletic Conference. We have played at Fouts and at Apogee/DATCU. We have had 8 head coaches and 5 ADs. And we have won 151 games, tied 1, and lost 232. But my winning percentage is better at .393%!! Take that, @wardly!! lol!!
  21. I certainly hope so. Move on. Go away. Let us have a champion of our own level. And remember that when the dust settles, those that get left behind have to follow the same rules...
  22. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Navy_vs._North_Texas_football_game whoops
  23. TFLF for the win!!
