🔥🔥🔥Official UNT vs Texas Tech IN-GAME DISCUSSION🚨🚨🚨

They look like a power 4 team and we look overmatched. -
I’m conditioned to expect this to go completely wrong for us, but I’d love to have games in football and basketball against those pac brands, especially if it gets some other programs I mentioned before in this thread.

Thursday/Friday FBS Games - 9/12-9/13
untjim1995 replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
In true North Texas fashion, the SBC jumped up very high not too long after we left. Appy State, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, and others have a lot to do with that, of course. And CUSA dropped off severely about 4-5 years after we joined. And the AAC change isn't looking all that great yet, either, if we're being honest. -
In truth, the AAC probably won't lose anyone. The Western schools just want to consolidate around closer schools with programs that are more similar to each other in the western time zones. Wyoming is more like Idaho and Montana and the Dakotas. SJSU and Hawaii are much more like UTEP and NMSU than they are any of the MWC schools that are leaving. Get UNLV and Nevada, see if you can get AFA, if you can, then add in UNM, and get Gonzaga and St. Mary's for hoops. That's a solid 10 team football conference. And its a very strong basketball conference.

Actually, Nebraska and Colorado left the Big 12 first...

I bet that place can be a monster...

The new Pac is smart by OSU and WSU. Playing Wyoming, San Jose State, Hawaii, and New Mexico provides very little in help. Travel is expensive and they carry very few eyeballs. Air Force, Utah State, UNLV and Nevada will probably be next on their list. That gets them to ten and it keeps them in the same footprint they've all been used to. The invites to Gonzaga and St. Mary's will be coming soon, too, just to add in more names for a revenue sport. I doubt they expand East. For decades, we have waited for the MWC to come back to Texas after TCU left. And all that UTEP, UNT, SMU, Rice, and UTSA saw were nothing. I can see Hawaii going independent. I think Wyoming, SJSU, and New Mexico may very well be SBCUSA teams very soon. Maybe the AAC sees value in UNM, but I doubt it.

Similar to Littrell when he was here or Traylor at UTSA, if Kinne stays at Texas State, he will find out that losing good assistants, losing QBs that are playmakers, and having to play with a target on your back all catches up to you. I agree that Kinne has been a solid coach, just as the other two were, but Littrell stayed here for hopes of a bigger job than KSU after Snyder and the entire thing fell apart. Traylor could easily be headed in the same direction.

Whatever it is, they’d pay it… must be nice.

TX Football: Things We Learned in Week One

Completely agree. They should be our new OOC opponent for every season. -
Do FCS teams still have a chance against FBS opponents?
untjim1995 replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Football
The Power Teams shouldn't be playing FCS teams--they can play G5s and let the G5s play FCS in OOC play. -
And Tech just beat that powerhouse, ACU, 52-51 in OT
-
And UH loses at home to UNLV

Getting the Equipment to the Game in Style

But they wouldn't be showing equal interest to TWU...///average Dentonite -
It’s a great article. My feeling is that if the next breakaway is to form the new level of college football to be like the NFL, then it will be a 32team setup, which will include biggest state schools with largest fan bases and stadiums. That’s these 28 schools for sure: Washington, Oregon, USC, UCLA, Texas, A&M, OU, Nebraska. Iowa. Wisconsin, Michigan, MSU, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Virginia Tech, UNC, Clemson. South Carolina, Georgia, FSU, Florida, Miami, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, and Arkansas. There are maybe a few more schools you can consider but Wilner’s point is that TV wants big names and some of these current power teams aren’t bringing value like the ones listed above. Now, could the threat of litigation from individual states get some of their power schools included still? I’d guess yes. So states like Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Maryland, and West Virginia might get some of their schools into the new league, just to appease anyone with any legal power from suing. But it will happen within 10 years, at a maximum.

Sources: UConn, Big 12 in early talks for potential membership
untjim1995 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
Memphis hasn't been back to the Elite Eight since they choked in the championship game in 2008. Since then, UConn has won 4 titles. UConn actually won the Big East in football and played OU in the Fiesta Bowl, so it's not like they have never done anything in football. This would be all about basketball for men and women and I believe Yormark is correct about CBB being undervalued, especially women's hoops, which appears to be on the cusp of becoming even more popular than it has already been. The B12 wants to be a combo of the old Big East and old ACC, where they are kings of the basketball world. And I think that is a great idea, as it brings in more dollars and eyeballs to that conference, which will always be behind the B1G and the SEC but can easily stay third in a college athletics world where the top 40-50 brands still exist at a top level. -
I don’t get the Vito hate. He has to cover a program that has not exactly done a whole lot to be positive about. And he reports for a town that mostly acts like UNT Athletics doesn’t exist.

North Texas vs South Alabama Prediction Thread
untjim1995 replied to jtm0097's topic in Mean Green Football
If we have a defense that doesn't get pummeled, we will win a close game, like 31-27. If not, I can see another road butt-kicking for the Mean Green. Like 48-24. -
Then why are you here? You're the least believable Mean Green fan on this board.
-
I wasn’t surprised that game was close. Nevada is usually sneaky good at home against better teams. SMU read their headlines.

It’s just not a place that cares enough about our teams. Lots of reasons, but it’s very true. McCasland built this thing up to be the best thing it’s ever been…and we average less than half capacity.
