  1. This is where Morris is showing that having no major game experience in years really is a killer when you have an FCS roster. Its gonna take a while. Remember SMU last year and USM from a few years back...they both combined to win 3 games in the years of their regime change. That's why 1-2 wins is reasonable to expect.
  2. Exactly
  3. I disagree. What Littrell has taken over is doubly worse than what Morris took over. We lost to them by 18 points last year. And we had a full scholarship roster, unlike now. Raising expectations has to be realistic. Butt Cookman remains, as it has all year, the only game we will be favored to win--and even that will be a dogfight. Mac left us in a hole that is worse than what Dickey AND Dodge left us combined...
  4. Look, anyone with a brain knows this is how this year is going to be. SL doesn't have the horses--hell, he doesn't even have any hay for the horses--yet. SMU is a year ahead--we've been saying it all offseason to the homers on here. We have 1-2 wins on the field this year, max. But only wins in recruiting matter this fall...the rest is about development, gaining experience, and learning a new mindset.
  5. This is what happens when you have the worst program in the country to rebuild. Don't worry about the scoreboard, folks. We got bigger battles in living rooms and locker rooms across the state this week. Littrell and his 68 scholarship players are just going to have to learn the new system and how to be a leader in the locker room. It'll happen. It's just not this year.
  6. UH wins their biggest regular season game in forever and CougarQueen runs here to brag about it. go to landtheives.com--they'll care
  7. I also believe it's a new day with a bright future. But our window to having a FBS future is damn near closed. If Wren Baker, Neal Smatresk, and Seth Littrell, as well as whoever becomes our next men's basketball coach, can move us upward in the next 5 years to a conference that can continue playing at the level that we all want to see us reach, which is in the MWC or AAC, they will have performed a miracle. It's possible, but we basically have to start winning in football and men's hoops within two years and keep it up for the years that follow. That's our only chance...but these guys already here give me lots of hope.
  8. Don't worry--we couldn't even think about scheduling a game like this for another 6-8 years, bare minimum. By that time, the Big XII will have imploded, the Power leagues and their two almost-power leagues (AAC and MWC) will officially pull away from the Bottom G5s in the MAC, CUSA, and SBC. At that point, we won't be playing any Power teams anywhere.
  9. Here's a crazy thought--maybe, just maybe we could have a team that could compete with one of those teams if we didn't have to play them in front of 100k of their own fans...
  10. As long as the names Ben and Ryan don't show up there, I'll be ok with this...
  11. So if Nebraska or Wisconsin or USC called and said they would be open to playing us at Jerry World or the Cotton Bowl, are there people here who would say no because they are supposed to come to 30k seat Apogee in Denton, instead? That's what amazes me-fans on here always say we are in the DFW market, just like SMU and TCU, but when the idea comes up about playing a gigantic P5 team in DFW, these same voices immediately say, "No way--we are in Denton. If they won't play here, then we won't play you." RV took advantage of this nonsense by hearing our fans scream to him about SMU being our rival, so by scheduling the series with them, as well as Army, he felt like he did exactly what the fans wanted.
  12. You win...absolutely nobody wants to read our back-and-forth on this. I apologize to the rest of the board for causing a distraction from this weekend's big game.
  13. SMU has been here twice since 2006--both crowds were big--24k in 2006, 22k in 2014. Rice has been here three times--each crowd has been good for us, even the Halloween crowd--each has exceeded 18k, IIRC.
  14. You just made my point...as usual.
  15. Denton loves them some old SWC schools...I'd expect at least 22k, probably around 24k
  16. You can be better than telling a reporter to eff off because he wrote an article in the hometown newspaper of the team he covers and picks to win. You would be crucifying an SMU poster for saying the same thing about Brett Vito picking us to win in our hometown paper that is his best.
  17. I'm so glad that Britton Banowsky sought out the advice of East Carolina when the conference had to get realigned. It's just awesome having all of their regional choices in our conference, even though they bolted about a month after making sure Charlotte and ODU got invites straight out of FCS.
  18. Just a bit of advice--do better and represent us in a better fashion. Because right now, you sound like Ryan Munthe...that's not who you want to sound like.
  19. Cmon man...that's your reaction to someone who wrote an article that represents what the majority of college football media expects?
  20. Rice probably brought about 25 people to WKU...a perfect reason why these G5s need to get aligned in conferences that are much closer geographically.
  21. You know we are playing SMU, not Notre Dame, right?
  22. Last year, I posted on here that if we couldn't beat SMU, 1-11 was a certainty--and that was what happened. This year, if we beat SMU, I think we will actually win 3 or more games. I'm on record that I think we are 2-10 or worse, but a win over SMU would really be a nice start to this year. We have these FBS opponents that our 68 scholarship players can probably compete with--SMU, Army, and UTSA. Beat SMU, Butt Cookman, and one or both of these other two and you have had a spectacular start to the Littrell Era here. There's many reasons we are generally rated as one of the three bottom teams in FBS right now, along with UMass and ULM, but its that depth that is the main one. And this SMU game in game one at home represents a GOLDEN CHANCE at a win, just because we won't have depth issues show up yet, as it will later in the season. Same goes for the Butt Cookman game.
  23. Are those the 5 hookers that Craig James killed?
  24. His last 5 years here set this place so far back in the minds of college conferences and media, we literally are stuck watching other CUSA teams get considerations we won't. Thats why I always say we started caring about this stuff too late to be able to move upward where I thought we would go 20+ years ago. RV being here 5-7 years too long just crushed our program because he had no idea how to hire a winner in the sports that matter.
