Final Four - Who believes!?!
South Texas Green replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Not sure if anyone has shared this. Nice to see the guys interviewed by Channel 8. "Tylor Perry, Thomas Bell, Mardrez McBride, and JJ Murray all had to play junior college ball before they got their shot at UNT. And take it from them -- JuCo is not glamorous. "After games," Murray said, "we'd go like to McDonald's or Wendy's - and we'd have $7 or $8 limits." The group have compared notes from their JuCo days. And that includes head coach Grant McCasland, who won a Junior College national championship with Midland in 2007. On their way home from the national championship game, they got dinner at a gas station convenience store." https://www.wfaa.com/article/sports/unt-basketball-rolling-thanks-to-multiple-players-who-were-once-overlooked/287-6ee63e31-1b39-4af3-8765-aafda4840665 -
Southern Mississippi (2/24/2022)

Although I live out of state I haven't missed a game all season on TV (even bought the CUSA TV deal). Saw another fan ask for this earlier this season. Would anyone be willing to send me a soda/beer souvenir cup from the game? Don't remember how big they are (24oz?) Will gladly pay for purchase and shipping costs plus can add a little extra for the trouble. DM me if you'd help a fellow fan out. Thanks! GMG -
Just wanted to say how proud I am of this team. A great effort by everyone today to get the dub! I agree with some of the other comments I've seen. Let's enjoy this great ride. Game by game, these guys are giving us one heck of a season. GMG

DRC: UNT's game against Tulsa is off

I wonder if any of the other teams in the tournament would consider driving down to Denton if they were going to be traveling to the same general area of the country anyway. -

So we've got the closest road game (and one against our rival) on the schedule, and the Green Brigade won't be there? That's a bad beat. I get the COVID concern, but if North Texas is willing to have the full band together all day long in Denton, what's the difference with doing it in Dallas? On another note, maybe going forward, there should be something done to assure our band has the funding to support the team on the road. Ideally, they should be at /every/ game. We've got a terrific, award-winning band with talented musicians every year. Why wouldn't the university want to put them in the spotlight? I'm not saying it would be easy to figure out the logistics, but I know our team and fans would appreciate their support. I for one enjoy having the Green Brigade at home games.

I've got absolutely no problem with Littrell naming co-starters for the first game. If one of them was head and shoulders above the rest, then I'd certainly hope the staff would be confident in going with one guy. It would be in their best interest (read: job security) to have a go-to-guy by now. The fact is neither QB has separated himself from the rest of the pack. There's nothing wrong with seeing how each QB does in Week 1 and let's be honest, having an FCS opponent out of the gate is the best-case scenario for seeing what each of the QB brings to the table in live-game action. Sorry, but scrimmages just aren't the real thing. The optimist in me thinks both guys have the talent to lead the offense, but in the end, their performance on the field should dictate who takes the reigns moving forward. Let's get some good work in Saturday and start the year 1-0! GMG

Always room for improvement, but a tip of the cap to the guys for taking care of business. Hoping the good juju carries over to the next time out. Beat La Tech! GMG -
I've got a work commitment and won't be able to attend. Two seats in 209 with seat backs. First come, first serve. I'll mail the tickets to you. Just shoot me an address. Thank you, GMG
