  1. I took a look at the blue faiders board this morning and found 4 different treads about North Texas. The muts really do love us after all. The muts are looking forward to Saturday's game! The muts believe this game is a guaranteed win, and will put up over 50 points on the Mean Green. North Texas has the muts right where we want them. Fat and over confident. Predictions- http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=349&f=2...=341952&p=2 Todd Dodge- http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=349&f=2388&t=3430408 Dodgeball- http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=349&f=2388&t=3430364 Lookalike- http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=349&f=2388&t=3430912
  2. This deal is so wheels off. What if Tennessee comes calling with a big offer, like $5 million per year? Does Muschamp pass on this opportunity? What if Brown stays another 10 years at Texas, does Muschamp wait? What happen to the value of Texas favorite son, Applewhite? I bet Applewhite surely feels warm and fuzzy regarding his future at Texas. This deal is more like a game of keep away from offers/schools, that will try to steal Muschamp anyway from Texas. Sounds like the Dallas Cowboys deal to keep Jason Garrett as OC and or HC. I am sure Wade Phillips was very happy to know that Jason Garrett was picked to be his OC before Wade even had the Dallas job, and I bet Wade is comforted in knowing that when he retires or has his plug pulled by Jerry Jones, that Jason is there ready to take over at a moments notice.
  3. A friend of mine told me that he heard on ESPN that Utah Stae's HFC Brent Guy would be fired today, and that Greg Robinson the HFC at Syracuse was fired. Now what happens to DD and Phil Bennett?
  4. Keep a look out for FB recruits. This weekend is supose to be a big recruiting weekend so maybe there will be prospects at the game.
  5. Jeremi Mathis is injured? Having shoulder surgery? This is the first that I have heard of Mathis having a injury. I though Mathis was being reshirted this year. Lance Dunbar- is injured also, any news on how he is doing? I believe he had a bad hamstring injury. Micha Mosely- has a shoulder problem too. Possible surgery? James Hamilton at RB sounds like no one else was available to back up Cam Montgpmery. James Hamilton is a great athlete and is very fast so I hope he can focus on the slot WR position next spring. Getting reps at RB is something I was not expecting. The point is, James Hamilton looks like he could be a pretty good RB!
  6. The hoot/barn/sea owls of FA-who are a 22.5 piont favorite. How do you get .5 points in a game? 1/2 field goal maybe? Many of the owl fans seem to betting their bank rolls and taking NT with the + 22.5. FAU is more of a pro set, with H-backs/TE. Both TE's play, 6-5 Jamari Grant, and 6-5 Rob Housler Very good RB with Charles Pierre and a good FB with Rose. Offense avgs 128 yds rush, 233 yds passing. Rusty Smith, 6-5, 230, is not a option QB, more of pro set QB. Top targets, 6-2 WR Gent Cortez, and 6-1 WR Chriss Bonner, and both of the big TE's. Common opponets. FAU beat ULM, 29-28. Lost to Troy 17-30. Beat WKU, 24-20. Lost to MTSU 13-14. FAU' avg p/game points 18, opponet 29. FAU gives up 192yds p/game rushing, and 201 passing. (393 yds avg/game) FAU gains 127 rush yds/game, and 232 passing. (359 yds avg/game) These stats do not really mean too much, but what does count is the will to win and the heart the team has to play. I believe the NT players know they can win this game, and they will get after FAU. I like our heart and will to win, NT 45 FAU 31.
  7. Channel 5 sports had a trailer after their TCU/Utah game story, saying K-State was highly interested in Gary Patterson. From the K-State board chatter, the fans are highly in favor of going after Gary Patterson too. If I were GP, I would stay at TCU.
  8. Wow, did anyone notice the WKU RB, # 33 was wide open in the end zone? No one even close to defending the pass play. I think a very big Thank You, should go to #16, LB Steve Warren who blitzed, came in untouched, and was in the QB's face just just as the pass was released. Warren just blew up this play from the start!!! Saved the game for the team! Thank you Steve!
  9. I do think Coach Dodge and the staff review the best options on players and positions. Many factors change over the course of a season, players, and needs of the team. For a example, Forrest Rucker, as a true freshman, had a great spring, and progressed even more in fall practice, to a point where the coaches were considering Forrest to be a starter, or atleast work his talents into the offense. Then at the end of fall practice, Forrest breaks his collar bone. This changed the WR position. So, the staff looks are solving this problem. First R/S Rucker, and save his talent for the next 4 years. Move another player in. The staff wanted to play Roberson last year, but, decided to R/S him last year. He is playing. The staff is playing some talented walk ons, due to many reasons. Alex Lott to me, has been a very good suprise this year. Let him play. Save the likes of Bingham, Rucker for next year. Jackson too. Look at true fresh, Coleman Feeley, OL, 6-4, 318. Due to changes with the OL, the staff had to burn his freshman year. This kid is a very good OL athlete, that is proving his worth. We all would like to have Fitzgeral, Stickler, another year too, but we can't. Looks like to me, Coach Dodge and his staff are building for the future, and saving the talent everywhere they can, but also trying to put the best players out there, win or lose.
  10. Rick, Outstanding post! I do beleive in what Coach Dodge and his staff are developing! It is all about the future, and the rewards will be great! Charlie
  11. Ole Green Guts, Your arse is not the only one that is chapped by the same reasons you have mentioned! The offense will continue to develop, and will be very good. There are many talented players that are gaining experience and learning. All of these guys are competitors, hate losing, working hard, and will bring the glory back to NT! Defense. Basicly, DeLoach is in his first year. The players are learning his defense. Freshmen, red shirts, sophmores starting over with DeLoach's system. Every one of the coaches are working their asses off, every day, to build a winning program. All of this pain and misery will pay off big time down the road. The cost to be a winning program is very high. It takes investments in the future. All of these young kids are our investment in the future.
  12. I do beleive this group of WR's are very talented, and will provide many opportunities for the offense, plus many headaches for the opponets defense. These guys are going to fun to watch the next few years. Forrest Rucker had a very good spring and fall. I beleive he was going to play this year until he broke his collar bone at the end of fall practice. 4-6 weeks to heal, plus rehab time. I am glad he was redshirted. At 6-6, and now 225, runs a 4.5, I sure would hate to be DB coving this guy! Deep threat guy, goal line, you name it he can do it! Kenny Barret,6-4, 195, # 8 ranked player by Waco Tribune, 200 meter dash champ. Size and speed, terriffic athlete! Position receiver for sure! Desmond Bingham, 6-1, 176, HM all state by AP, various all state honors. Another speed guy and deep threat! Greg Brown,6-0, 190, took R/S for 2008 Chase Baine,5-11,200, reminds me of Fentriss (sp?). A sleeper player? Kevin Dickerson, 5-10,190, JR, good player Jamel Jackson, 5-9,167, transfer from Northwestern St, fastest guy on the team, broke his collar bone, out 4-6 weeks, was going to handle KO/Punts. I would like to know if he could get a R/S for 2008. Breece Johnson, 6-0, 170, all types of DFW honors, First Team All State, Class 5A played last year, and is on special teams- will have more opportunities in 2009 Bryan Lockhart, 6-2, 195, Tyler JC, dad is Eugene Lockhart Alex Lott, 5-9, 165, Soph, what a surprise at Slot Receiver. This kid is very good. I hope his brother can come to NT too. Sam Roberson, 6-4, 217, red shirt 2007, all types of state honors, first year to play. Look for this guy to go deep alot in 2009! Recruited by Alabama/Auburn This guy will be a star! Casey Schutza, 5-10, 170, another Euless Trinity player, Willie Taylor, 5-10, 165, DMN top 100, speed guy, R/S 2008-? Very quick-perfect slot WR guy! All of these guys make one hell of a group of WR's, Geez!!! These WR's are great talents that will be here for years. I am already fired up to see these guys on the field! These WR's are serious, big time, game breakers!
  13. I wish someone had helped the great Andrew Smith!
  14. Lifer- best reply of the day! Could'nt close the casket shut! Geez!
  15. Did you miss something? Looks like you have missed the boat- Try again.
  16. I see that the Bottom 10 waiting list is well represented with CDOA winners. $MU Tulate Greenwave goodby UA-B team southern Ole Miss middle florida/Central florida/directional locations. Also waiting, another florida directional favorite, Smelly's own, FAU.
  17. Really, damn right these kids are learning, gaining experience, and becoming a very good football team!
  18. The Viagra TV commericals say there are possible side effects when using this recreational drug, such as errections lasting over 4 hours. If this happens, one should call their doctor immediately. If I were using this recreational drug, and I had that possible side effect, I sure as heck would not call my doctor. I would call the pron studios and ask if they are hiring!
  19. Ole Green Guts! Great to hear from you and see your postings! I really like to hearing from a coach that knows what it takes to build a football team! I agree with you, so you are not alone, on giving the coach 3-4 years to implement his system, get his coaches and kids in place, train these kids, and having the kids buy into the program. I beleive Coach Dodge and his team will overcome all this adversity, and start winning again. These kids are learning and gaining confidence, paying their dues now and investing for the future of North Texas football.
  20. So, Got 5 on it, you are saying that if North Texas was a SBC contender, these test would not have been authorized? Are you saying, that if North Texas was 8-0, and Coach Dodge suspected drug use on his team, that he would look the other way? Any coach of character would address the drug problem immmediately. Do you think Nick Saban would look the other way if his Alabama team was smoking weed? Same for Urban Myer at Florida, or how about PaPa Joe up at Penn State? Geez, what planet are you from?
  21. Coach Dodge and RV wasted time and money on the testing? RV was not supportative of the testing? Coach Dodge must have had some type of indication, or saw something, that made him want to investigate futher. I do not think Coach Dodge dreamed the testing up on his own, then ordered the testing. I would say Coach Dodge did consult with RV, who in turn consulted with GB. I would also say both RV and GB gave their blessing and approved the testing process. Coach Dodge could not have done this alone. The whole point of the testing was not because the team is 0-8. The testing was done to help these kids, protect their health, protect their futures, correct the problem, provide counciling, and to make sure the kids understand any substance use or abuse will not be on the football team. This does not matter how the courts view the use or possession of weed. What matters is, some kids were using weed on a regular basis and Coach Dodge took measures to correct this situation. I do agree with TFLF on one point. If you test one group of people, then you have to test all groups of people. Like TFLF said, no one will go down that road. If this type of testing were possible, the results made public, life in America would change over night.
  22. Brown, Stoops, yes all college's test players. One here, one there. I would want these coaches to test their entire team, at the same time. Yes, Brown and Stoops already know how the test results would turn out. These coaches do not have the balls to test all of their kids at the same time. I bet every coach in America is following this story, along with all school adminstators. I commend Coach Dodge, for wanting to help these kids, first and foremost. Coach Dodge wants every one of his players to be successful, on and off the field. Coach Dodge did not order the testing because the team is 0-8. Coach Dodge ordered these tests to protect the health of these kids, to give these kids guidence with their lives, and to show he will not tolerate drug use. Coach Dodge pledged to the parents of these players that he will take care of their kids, and be their parent while these kids are at North Texas. Looks like to me Coach Dodge is handling his team the right way again! This testing is a first in NCAA history, where the entire team was tested at the same time. I would like for the NCAA to create a law requiring all colleges test all of their athletes at the same time at least one time per year.
  23. The studies I saw during the seminar I completed, reflects any group of people. At work, at church, at school, does not matter where. The point was 1 in 5 people have a substance addiction, or currently using dope or alcohol on a regular basis. So if you had a company of 100 employee's, and all 100 were tested at the same time, studies would indicate 20 of these 100 would test positive for substance use. I am in the freight transportaion business, and I can assure you, we test all of our drivers on a regular basis. From what I have seen first hand, the 1 in 5 ratio is right on with the health, and insurance organizations studies. With my company, if a employee fails his 1st test, he gets a second testing, one time only. Fail the second follow up test, or another random selection test, that employee is fired on the spot.
  24. I have completed a upper management course/siminar on substance abuse. During this program, a interesting fact was presented. Many studies from leading health organizations, and the federal health organization, have determined that in any population, business, or any group, that 1 in 5 people have a problem with alcohol, street drugs, and or prescription drugs. Within my company that I work for, this ratio holds true. We have found positive substance use or abuse in the same number of employee's. The point is, substance abuse is in every population, whether at school, church, business, or a football team. I would like to see Bob Stoops at Oklahoma, Mack Brown at Texas, Stockstill at MTSU, Snelly at FAU, Blakeney at Troy, or any college coach in America, have all of their players tested at the same time. These coaches will not dare do this because they would be afraid of what the results would prove!
  25. I am deeply disappointed in who ever the players are, that have decided to use "recreational drugs". Geez, all the bad media reports, our competition making fun of us, the national attention, how this affects recruiting, and to the Mean Green Nation. Coach Dodge is receiving all the blame. It is not fair to the coaches, or to the kids that stay clean, work their asses off, and hope to get on the football field, to play for North Texas. I strongly beleive these kids should be held accountable for what they have done to the program, how they have hurt their team mates, and the disgrace these knuckleheads have brought upon the University of North Texas. If I were the HFC, I would run their sorry asses off, period. There are other athletes that can use the scholarships! No drug counciling, no special treatments, no passes. Rules are rules. Period.
