Biggest Victory in UNT Sports History?
Charlie NT 73 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
The NO bowl win over Cincinnati was huge! Very discouraging to lose the other 3 NO bowl games though. There have been many other big wins for North Texas football, too many to mention. I saw the big win over Bill Yoeman's Houston Cougars and their powerfull veer offense at Texas Stadium. NT ran up and down the field on Houston. NT won 28-0. I saw NT defeate # 16 San Diego St at Fouts. MLB David Deton returned 2 SD St Ints for TD's! Fast forward to present day-The only other big football game win I remember, would be the Indiana game last year. Coach McCarney's first win at North texas and the first win over a Big 10 team! -
South Alabama 6 over Tex San Antonio Troy 5 1/2 over Tulane Duke 4 over FIU Tulsa 1 over Iowa St Oregon 35 1/2 over Arkansas St Tex A&M 6 1/2 over La Tech Houston 37 over Texas St Interesting predictions.

NT makes OT JC offer Brandon Garrett, Trinity Valley CC
Charlie NT 73 replied to OldTimer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
East Carolina signed a 6-8, 325 JUCO OT. I would like to have Garett on the team. Souther Miss signed a 6-6, 290 DT. Garret could match up against the S Miss DT. -
I was checking the current football roster on Meangreensports.com. Looks like player information has been updated. Check it out- I hope this link works. I used the "sort by position" tab http://www.meangreensports.com/SportSelect.dbml?SPSID=9053&SPID=562&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=1800&SORT_ORDER=6&q_ SEAON=2012&PRINTABLE_PAGE= I count 16 DB's, 9 DE's, 7 DT's, 13 LB's, 14 OL players, 1 Punter, 1 PK, 4 QB's, 8 RB's, 9 TE's, and 11 WR's. Total 93 players Note the weight gains and the weight loss on some players. With 16 DB's on the roster, plus any incoming walk-on's, I certainly hope the secondary coaches can find the starting players they need.

As North Texas enters into C-USA football, I see Southern Miss, East Carolina, and Tulsa as our greatest competition. I have been watching Rivals.com to see how these 3 teams are recruiting. Here are the Rivals.com listings for football commitments. Southern Miss has 10 commitments, including a 6-6, 290 DT, a 6-7, 275 DE, and a 6-5, 315 OL JUCO. http://rivals.yahoo....outhernmiss-105 East Carolina has 10 comitments, with 4 - 3 star players. Included in this group is a 6-8, 330 OL guy. http://rivals.yahoo....eastcarolina-99 Tulsa has 9 commitments, including one 4 star OL guy, and 3-3 star rated players http://rivals.yahoo..../2013/tulsa-107 For North Texas, I am confident that Coach McCareny and his staff will successfully recruit for North Texas, the C-USA talent needed to be competitive and win C-USA games. I believe our greatest asset is the coaching staff itself. The 2014 North Texas class is off to a great start with recruiting for our first year in C-USA. Our staff has 6-5, 6-4 linemen commited now. It all starts in the trenches!

New Names Added to Roster

At the spring game, who was the walk on player returning punts? I think his number was 87. Same guy that made the amazing flip on the sidelines. Someone in the stands said this player was a WR from South Lake Carroll HS. -
UNT Announces new Deal with 95.3 KHYI FM (The Range)
Charlie NT 73 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I tried listening to 95.3 FM last Saturday down in Grand Prairie. The signal would fade in and out on both the car radio and my home radio. I can receive 88.1 on the car radio. On the home radio, other station signals over ride the 88.1 signal. fades in and out. -
UNT Announces new Deal with 95.3 KHYI FM (The Range)
Charlie NT 73 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Our UNT Radio Network is one FM station based in Howe Tx, and KNTU? I guess two stations can create a network. I do not know how the radio business works, so how can a customer like UNT, secure more radio stations across the states market areas. Houston, San Antonio, east Texas and west Texas have many UNT fans too. How does $MU have their games on 1310, the TICKET ? -
UNT Announces new Deal with 95.3 KHYI FM (The Range)
Charlie NT 73 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I love country music, and I listen to the 'Wolf" KPLX 99.5 FM and KSCS 96.3 FM. I have never heard of KHYI FM 95.3. I live in Grand Prairie. I always had fair FM reception for KNTU 88.1, while the Word 100.7 would come in sharp and clear. I will test 95.3 for recpeption on the car radio and the radio at home this afternoon. I would like to know more about the "UNT Radio Network" The only radio network I know is 88.1 and 100.7. Are there other radio stations arcoss the state that carrrier NT football and basketball games? Where are the other stations in the UNT Radio Network located? -
If he goes, why not interview Shawn Forest. Heck of a recruiter for the DFW area.

From the C-USA board on csnbbs.com, "SMU going after Rick Masjerus", check out post # 10, from "CalallenStang" "Johnny Jones has campaigned for the job" at $MU. Man, what kind of $MU fansty world do the $MU fans live in? See post #13, #14, #20 too. I quit reading the postings after # 20. http://www.csnbbs.com//showthread.php?tid=565475

Did You Have A Tornado In Your Backyard Today?
Charlie NT 73 replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I work in Coppell, near Belt Line Road and 635, on Airline Drive. Baseball size hail and larger, hammered our facility and surrounding area. My poor car got beat up badly, as well as every car/truck in the parking lot! My car windows look like cannon balls were shot through the car! Big dents all over the car body! Heavy cloud rotation while the hail was comming down. Looked like a tornado was about to spawn, but, did not form. I guess myself and co-workers were lucky the tornado did not form over our facility. My home was hit by a tornado back in '89. I do not want to do that again! None of us were injured but the house was ripped apart! -
I have been thinking about our 2012 class members possibly playing at other postions, like WR. Here are two guy's that I would not mind working in at WR. Jamal Marshall, 6-3, 185. 4.4 speed, was recruited as a DB. Would the staff allow Marshall to try out at WR? At 6-3, and 4.4 speed! Big body with speed! Same for RB Rex Rollins, 6-1, 185, 4.5 from Tyler's Chapel Hill HS. I beleive Rex was recruited to play DB/Safety for North Texas. Either defense or offense, both Marshall and Rollins will be great for North Texas!

The OT # 72 caught my attention. Sell him on coming to North Texas too.
-
Mustafa Habol also played full back in Arlingon Martins offense. Mustafa scored a TD and a two point conversion his senior year. Great blocker out of the backfield. In the NT recruiting offers, there were a couple of true full backs the staff was recruiting and offered schoarships to. No true FB's signed with North Texas. Just wondering, would the staff try Mustafa at Full Back? I would not mind having a 6-1, 250lbs fullback on the team.
