  1. Happy Birthday to you Mark! Charlie
  2. My biggest worry, is the defense getting pulled in the Rice zone read option, with RB Ross 6-1, 230 or RB Peterson, 6-2, 235. Then a surprise pass over the top to 6 ft 5 in WR Jordan Taylor (a former North Texas recruiting target). Huge mis-match for our CB's and Safety's. Taylor leads Rice with "explosive plays of over 20 yards, with 3 TD's".
  3. Count me in! Charlie
  4. During my lunch hour, I was reading postings on the Southern Mississippi fan board, Eagle Post, for fan postings regarding our game this Saturday. I found one posting that I need to share with all Mean Green fans and our Football Team Warning- this posting contains "XXX" language, and insults about North Texas and North Texas fans! One of our Mean Green fans, MeanGreenFan" posted a message about looking forward to the game, mentions Rick Villarreal, and for Southern Miss fans to sign up on our GoMeanGreen.com fan website. MeanGreenFan's posted message was very polite, and in very good taste. You have to read the reply posting from a Southern Miss fan named "99Beers" for your self. Note- many of the "good" Southern Miss fans are embarrassed by postings from 99Beers, and offer apologies for the 99beers postings. The Southern Miss fans are great people and great college football fans. But, there is always a bad apple in the basket somewhere! I hope this posting ends up as "Bullentin Board Material" for our Football Team! go to "eaglepost.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=2 go to the "North Texas Fan Checking In" posting Scroll down to post # 11, from 99Beers. The fan postings are not number so you have to count the postings. Try "eaglepost.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=36377" works the best. I see 99beers has over 5500 postings! Why does eaglepost.net allow 99beers to continue posting?
  5. For get this guy! Move on! Trust the staff to put their recruiting efforts into guys that want to come to North Texas! February 2014 is a long way off. There will be new recruiting opportunities coming our way before February! Just think how a bowl game victory will help the recruiting efforts!
  6. Good News! I will be there! Charlie
  7. Scroll farther down the DCTF report to the "Odds and Ends" section. North Texas RB Brandin Byrd had his first 100 yard game of the season, after getting 3 last season. Congrats again to Brandin!
  8. Thanks Emmitt! You are probably right about a grad assistant handling the 7 recruits. Who ever the "coach" was handling the recruits, the coach was handling the recruits very well. All of the recruits were very happy, joking with each other, and clearly having a good time!
  9. At half time, I went down to the concession area to check out the scene, and to get a BBQ sandwich. I noticed a man who looked like a NT coach, but I am not sure who he was. This guy had 7 recruits with him, goofing around. The coach was on his cell phone several times, telling someone where he and his recruits were located. I kept trying to see the recruits name on their name tags, but the writing on their name tags were to small to read. I was standing a few feet away. There were 3 other MG fans standing close by trying to figure out who these recruits were too. The 7 recruits looked like 3 line men (big guys 6-4 range), 2 WR/DB types (tall, 6-2, 6-3, solid builds) and one recruit that looked like big LB about 6-3, 240. I am 6-1. I was shorter than all of the 7 recruits. I am puzzled as who the "coach" was that was handling these 7 recruits. I checked the MGS board, coaches, and did not see the guy handling the recruits listed as a coach.
  10. Thank you Todd for another great "Game Watching" party at the Down Under! I like this place- plenty of room to move around, good food, and the Down Under staff is very helpful! I see more and more Mean Green fans showing up for these events! Thank you again! Charlie Side note- the folks from Missouri that came in and sat down beside our group, certainly now know, we are the "Mean Green"! The Missouri group were into the game too! Cheering for the Mean Green! Outstanding!
  11. Adman, I wish you would have been with me. I would have been much safer with you! Since I was all alone, at 930 pm! I was stereotyping the guy, oh what a nice man I thought. Coming out of the darkness. Gee, he sure is big, about 6-4, 270 lbs, blood shot eyes, kinda jumpy and looked like a CRACK HEAD! Yeah, I was stereotyping the guy. I was robbed once before, so I was very concerned about this guy and the situation I was in. My mind was running, what should I do, how am I going to handle this guy, how can I get away? This guy had came up behind me, out of my sight. I was caught off guard and surprised. I was searching for an escape route. The guy was right beside me in an instant. Started saying he needed money for a motel room. He put his hand in his pocket, like in the old gangster movies. Maybe he has a gun or knife? I played up to what the guy wanted, a room for the night. I asked him how much does he need to get a motel room. He said $20.00. I told him all that I had was $15.00. I pulled out my wallet ( I was thinking about throwing the wallet as far as I could away from the man and me, to give me an escape route). I pulled out the 10 and the 5 dollar bills. I told him I hope this would help him get a room. The man could see that was all the cash I had. I handed the man the cash, then he turns away and starts walking towards Royal Lane. I walked quickly to my car, looking around for the man. He was gone. How did he vanish so quickly? i got in my car, locked the doors, and drove away. Was I hustled? Only the Adman can judge that. I was not taking any chances with this big bad man. Next time, maybe the Adman will be with me. The Adman would have punched this guys lights out, since he is an expert on how to stereotype bad guys, or sees threats as a hustle. Man- you were not there! So how dare you say I was hustled! Some day you may be in the same spot like I was. Lets see who gets hustled then!
  12. I used the train too. I was running late so I drove over to the Royal DART station. Long stairway to the train platform. I waited about 15 minutes before the DART train arrived. Met one Mean Green fan on board. This car was clean and had very good air conditioning. The train driverput the peddle to the medal. This train was going 40-50 mph in the parts of the track that were in a straight line. Arrived to the Trinity station in no time. The A-train train arrived about 10 minutes later. When the train arrived to the Denton station, the UNT shuttle bus was waiting. The bus had to go the back roads around down town Denton because of some event going on in downtown Denton. The shuttle bus arrived near the Fouts parking lot on Eagle Drive. Long walk to the cross over bridge. The shuttle driver told me the last shuttle would leave at 7:00 pm. I did not get to see the last 3 minutes of the game because I was rushing out of Apogee to catch the last shuttle. There were two other MG fans on board who also believed this was the last shuttle. The shuttle bus leaves and arrives to the Denton station in about 10 minutes. After my bus arrives, I see shuttle bus after shuttle bus arriving with MG fans. I could have stayed at the game to the end. One homeless person was hitting on everyone for money at the station. The A-train arrives early but waits until 7:53. Several non UNT game people get on board. Two UNT fans get on this train. I saw several UNT fans who parked at the A-train station, who were riding the shuttle buses to the game, and the return back to their cars. The A-train's had good crews, helpful, and the rail cars were clean, no strange ordors. At the Trinity station I got on the DART train. This car was dirty, smelled bad, and no crew. The PA system announcements were distorted. I got off at the Royal station around 9:00 pm. I was the only person there. I carefully did a look around recon from high on the Royal station platform. I could see my car in the parking lights below. I looked around carefully for possible trouble. All clear. I went down the two flights of stairs, started walking directly to my care and then it happen! Out of now where this really big bad looking guy comes up from behind me. He wants money to get a room for the night. Looked like he had a weapon in his pocket. I gave him the $15.00 I had. He takes the money and walks off. I jumped in my car, locked the doors. The guy disappeared into the darkness. I did not call the cops, just let this be lesson. Never get on a train near Denton Drive that arrives back late at night. Going to the game on the train was great. I liked the riding the train. I just need to plan my trip better, leave earlier, and group up with other MG fans. Next time, I will catch the Mockingbird station DART train. Last note, the A-Train crew stated UNT and the A-train office were working out a plan for the home coming game. The crew also stated to write a note to Rick Villarreal, and to the Denton County Transportation Authority on the good and the bad of the train service, and what service UNT fans want to have.
  13. Thank you all for the train advice. I am really thinking about trying the train. I can park at the North Central/Mockingbird station, catch the Blue or Red line to the downtown Dallas station, then catch the Green line to Denton. I could also driver over to the Bachman station, and catch the Green line right there, to avoid the Down town hassel. This sounds like a better plan for me. I could drive over to the Inwood/Love Field station too. I never liked driving back to Dallas late at night because of the speeders, tailgaters, and drunks on I35 and or Hwy 75. I was returning back from the Down Under in Allen last Saturday night and was narrowly missed by a speeding knuckle head probably going 95 MPH!
  14. What is the cost via DART to Denton? I live in North Dallas, near Greenville and Mockingbird. Where is the closest DART station for my location?
  15. I love my Mean Green but, Ball State is a very good passing team. Ball State 42 Mean Green 31 Ball State has an outstanding QB, and WR's that have been starters for 3 years. Big OL , excellent pass protection. I just hope Ball State does not score on their first offensive play.
  16. Do not take Ball State lightly! Ball State is an experienced team. Many returning starters. Ball State roster: ballstatesports.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=14200&SPID=7633&SPSID=67659 Click the position arrow to sort players by position. DT Nathan Ollie, 6-1, 295 named MAC Defensive Player of the Week vs Army QB Keith Wenning, 6-3, 220, named MAC Offensive Player of the Week vs Army. Notes: OL: has 2 senior OL guys, both are 3 year letter men, 3 year starters; big OL guy's 6-6, 6-7 WR's: has 2 senior WR's, both 3 year lettermen, 3 year starters CB's has 2 seniors, 3 year letter men, 3 year starters Quarterback facts: QB Keith Wenning, started his 35th game vs Army; Wenning has passed for 7994 yards, 1184 pass attempts, 760 completions, 60 career TD passes. 7 games of 300+ passing yards, 11 games of 250+ yards passing. With a 3 year starter at QB, and over 7000 yard passing, and 60 TD passes, I wonder if Ball State will run a pass play on their first offensive play of the game, and score a TD too?
  17. I do Believe in the Mean Green! North Texas 34 Ohio 17
  18. At the Idaho game, I noticed a big guy roaming behind the North Texas team bench that looks like the D-Lineman/Cheer leader featured in the video. From the video, I am not sure about his name? Armad Pierrer? 335lbs NT. The video narrator stated many college coaches are "drooling" over this player. IMHO, this guy looks to be very slow and over weight.
  19. I did a little snooping on the Bobcats board. According to some postings, both of the Bobcat's OL guards are out with injuries from the Louisville game. LG John Lechner and RG Sam Johnson. Believe me, Coach Solich will still have very big and very good back up OG's ready to take over for the North Texas game. This game will be won in the trenches!
  20. I wanted the green shirt with the white worm, not a picture of a football helmet! Sorry, i will not buy this t-shirt!
  21. Thompson to Chancellor on a crossing route for a 80 yd TD pass on the first play-- just like Chacellor's catch and run in the LSU game last year.
  22. Port A Cool, national HQ and manufacturing plant located in Center TX. The company I work for warehouses all Port A Cool fan products at our Carrollton TX warehouse. We ship truckloads as well as less than truck load Port A Cool orders all across the USA as well as international shipments. We did not ship a Port A Cool product to Idaho. Idaho went to Rent a Center for their fan.
  23. Heck, I cannot pick up a good clear clean signal from 95.3 FM on a good clear day here in Grand Prairie. The NT Radio Network is all we have so we will continue to listen. The phrase "North Texas Radio Network" sounds so funny with only two stations, with one being KNTU on the campus of North Texas. I just hope that one day, North Texas has game day radio coverage all across Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. How about one single station that can broadcast all over the USA? Maybe the C-USA Radio Network will offer more radio stations for NT fans across America.
  24. Yes, I would take the train, only if the train made a stop at Apogee. Second problem, when would the last train back to Dallas leave Apogee? I hate driving back to Dallas late from Denton after a game, because of the drunks and knuckleheads speeding, weaving in and out of traffic, and riding on your back bumper with their bright lights on. Jumping lanes instantly, no turn signals, and the "get the hell out of my way" driving attitude. Yeah, I would take the train if the train could get you close to Apogee, and if the train had several after the game trains available back to Dallas.
  25. Is the WR from Vandy still with the team? I do not see his listing on the football roster.
