  1. The two-deep for the OU game is now official. Here is the lineup: QB-Meager, Vizza; RB-Thomas, Mosley; WR-B. Jackson, Dibrell; WR-Stickler, Roderick Johnson; WR-Washington; B.J. Lewis; WR-Fitzgerald, Breece Johnson; RT-Peachey, Venegas; RG-Santiago; Venegas; C-Drake, Glass; LG-Bailey, Rose; LT-Menard, Gill Defense: DE-Buruss, Davenport; DT-Thomas, Miller; DT-Stevenson, Stewart; DE-Chapman, Owusu-Heming; OLB-Monroe, Robertson; MLB-Mendoza, Nwigwe; OLB-Holman, Mahan; CB-Nurudeen, Oubre; CB-Bush, Roman; S-Agbottah, Cotton; S-Weathers, Higgs.
  2. Both Bradford and McCoy were redshirts so neither was a complete rookie. Now, if we had started Vizza, that would be a true rookie.
  3. How did it come to that? Part of the reason MUTS consistently got high rated Sun Belt recruiting classes is that they continually signed prospects who either couldn't qualify or couldn't stay in school if they did. That's not the only reason, but when you throw that factor in with the periodic round of back luck that all programs had, it left their cupboard pretty bare.
  4. A small group will watching at our house.
  5. Island Eagle- Section E, Row 25, seats 7,8,9
  6. The two deep will be posted in the game notes on the official site. I assume that the notes will be up by Tuesday afternoon, if not earlier (don't want to use sooner for my word).
  7. I think those, including myself, who worry about the OU score, do so not because of our defense, but because of turnovers. We are unveiling a new offense with a lot of inexperience and a type of offense, where a bad day or just misreading the speed of the opponent can lead to turnovers, especially int's. Meager and the offense will really HAVE TO BE on their game in order to make this respectable. I hope they are, but it is asking a lot.
  8. I want to listen to it on my computer.
  9. yes. He is with the team and trying to work his way back into playing shape.
  10. I'm not sure of that. Vizza brings a lot to the table. I don't see him quitting because, wisely, TD made the decision not to start a true freshman.
  11. "That freshman kid is the real deal. In fact, I think Dodge knows exactly what he is doing.....that OU is no place to start a 18 year old kid regardless of his talent. Smart decision for the long run. I believe now that Dodge knows exactly what he is doing. He would have broken the spirit and heart of Meager by not naming him the starter. Wise decision by TD." No argument here with that statement. Whether or not he is the real deal, OU is no place to start a TRUE (not redshirt) freshman at QB. I don't know many coaches in the US who would do that to an 18 year old. That being said, I wish Daniel the best and hope that he dazzles us all.
  12. DM, we're pulling for you and the MEAN GREEN!
  13. Good analysis and summary. Not much I disagree with. Gill might be good at DE, but our need is not as great there. But I'm with on the fact that he really needs to bulk up if he is to play OL.
  14. Bradley Davidson was 1st team all-district in 5-5A and Blaine McBride was 1st team all-district in 6-5A. Both made the all-district teams as centers.
  15. Initially, I heard that Scoggins was doing good at DT, but haven't heard anything in a few days.
  16. I know that Charley kept weight down some to play TE. Has he bulked up since the Spring?
  17. Amen, brother!
  18. Arkansas, October, 1968. Nearly beat the top 10 ranked Razorbacks. Lost 15-17, no thanks to a North Texas fumble at the Arkansas 2-yard line (right across from where we were sitting....saw the whole horrific play as in slow motion...a botch handoff to the halfback). Still, it was fun seeing the entire stadium get silent as the fans realized that North Texas was just as good as they were and that it was not going to be any easy victory. Fortunately, the game was lost on the field and not through the ref as in Ausitn in 1988.
  19. If you think about it, you will be able to guess what it is. It's not an uncommon problem.
  20. Your idea makes sense because there are only 99 numbers and if you retire more than a few, you get short of jersey numbers. If you retire some and then stop because of a number shortage, then you give the early stars an unfair recognition advantage over your later stars.
  21. Good summary of the facts. I'm not sure Daniel will "definitely" be our guy at QB this year, but he definitely has the inside track going into the Fall. All our QB's will be improved with the better hands on coaching. If I have a concern about Meager, it is his durability. Our QB's are likely to get some hard knocks until the offensive line can jell. Also, whoever starts, may have to have a really tough psyche, because the first half of the season could be very tough and any starter may have to deal with adversity. It may be that whoever can manage that may prevail in the end, regardless of who comes out of the gate as starter. Either way, I am 100% behind whoever takes the snaps.
  22. Three North Texas recruits will play in tonight's game- WR Sam Dirbrell for the South (#82), LB- AJ Penson (#10) and Center- JJ Johnson (#54) for the North. The game is on Fox SW at 7:30 pm.
  23. Frankly, Tune may have more upside, though we won't know that for sure until he has had a little more coaching and gets more familiar with the offense. He is, by far, the least experienced of all the QB hopefuls, therefore the most difficult to assess.
  24. Didn't mean to sound like I was coming down on you, I was just curious about how you came to that conclusion since I see UT recruits in every all-star game.
