  1. If you look at film of him as a freshman and video of him today, you see two different players. His quickness, reaction time, ability to move into a hole (which I assume includes field vision) was miles ahead of where he is now. It's a shame, because he could have been all-world. But, unless he gets those attributes back, he won't be.
  2. It's broken out in the game notes, by participation (you can find position in the roster) and stats. For instance, DeSoto had one assisted tackle during his first college action at DT as a true freshman. He was in only 2 series.
  3. The CUSA ought to be ashamed of that schedule. No wonder the basketball schools would like to bolt the conference.
  4. I'm not worried about Dodge's offensive system. Frankly, it looked reasonably good considering how new it is. I AM worried about our defense and defensive schemes. Many of the problems I spotted had nothing to do with OU or the talent difference. That is what some posters as well as OU staff and players were alluding to. They weren't just blowing smoke. If we don't fix those before this Saturday, it could be a long, disappointing day for all of us. I support the players, coaches, and university. But, if I see a problem, I'm going to mention it. I did this with DD and I'll do it with TD. On the other hand, I will praise the positive as well. As I said, I actually was encouraged by much of what I saw on the offensive side of the ball, including how routes were run, overall effort, center play, call selection, etc.
  5. To be honest, he wouldn't been all that impressed if he were at the UT game this weekend. The Horns didn't exactly look like destiny's darlings.
  6. I thought he looked good, except when he tired to make some high school moves instead of hitting the hole. He'll learn that he could get away with some of that last year, but not in college.
  7. I don't understand this picking on Roman. He wasn't the only one missing tackles, being out of position, taking horrible angles. The linebackers, especially, were disappointing.
  8. Exactly. Wins don't just happen. We couldn't stop the DeMyron Martin-Willis combo last year. They were eating our lunch until Martin went down. What makes you think we can stop them this year, especially given our poor tackling and overall cluelessness on defense? I want to win. I want the team and coaches to expect to win. But, I'm not so foolish as to count the SMU game in the win column until I see how we are performing on the field.
  9. I'm more than willing to grant them some time, but tolerance on the fundamentals, should be very limited with any coach. Again, I am very hopeful, but some areas should be addressed right away, no matter who is in charge of the team.
  10. I'm sorry, but that is too easy! (“The journey is on,” Dodge said. “Myself, my coaches and my players have to make sure we don’t knee jerk in the face of adversity.”). Sure, I do not want them to "knee jerk", BUT I DO WANT THEM TO MAKE INTELLIGENT ADJUSTMENTS based upon the personnel they have, the team they are facing and the tempo of the game. I expected that of DD and was disappointed when it didn't appear and I now expect that of TD and his staff. No, I don't expect miracles and fully anticipated this season being "tough", but I saw some things (like poor tackling, being out of position, failure to adjust) that I expect to be addressed. My hope, and belief, is that Todd Dodge has enough pride and competitiveness that he will not tolerate anything less.
  11. We (our team) better want this game MORE than SMU or we LOSE. It's a simple as that. SMU has more than enough talent to win if they play harder than we do.
  12. I should mention that each week's show is on kntu. I don't think you can find last night's show on there, but you can catch future shows.
  13. You can listen to the show on your computer by going to kntu on-line.
  14. You can guarantee if the situation had been reversed the refs in Austin would have never thrown that flag against the Horns. And, the Longhorns are my second favorite team, but I saw us get homered big-time in 1988 and have seen calls favor the home team in Memorial Stadium for many years. But, that is probably the same with most BCS teams against non-BCS.
  15. A lot of locals, like myself, were watching with friends at their homes. If it had been a pay for view and not Labor Day weekend, it might have been worth fighting the Houston traffic to see the game with fellow Mean Greener's. But. given the situation, home viewing seemed like the best option and I know of a few others closer in who chose the same option.
  16. Looking for sparks of hope. I must say that DeSoto looked really good at DT on the 2-3 series he was in last night. I was kind of surprised that TD burned his redshirt, but from what I saw, he will be able to help us this year. And, being a freshman, it is nice to know that we have some talent waiting to pick up the slack next year with the interior line.
  17. I don't think anybody on this board disagrees with you. If there is any hope after last night's debacle, it is: 1. TD has said the same thing (not content with just Sun Belt glory); 2. he has a tremendous amount of pride and football savvy. Last night will only motivate him to work harder and to lead the team to a much higher level of performance; and 3. TD DID say it would take 2-3 years to get even close to where he wants to be. I know we didn't want to believe that, but that is the reality.
  18. At least Dickey did have a couple of QB's who could complete a pass in Hall and Smith. If ULM can't develop at least a modicum of a pass offense, then defenses will begin to stack them just like they did us in our last couple of years.
  19. Even though it kind of reminds me of Dickey playing Dodge.
  20. A draw in a double tight end set. Why not confuse the hell out of them.
  21. Yes, Owusu-Hemeng looked very good in the Texas High School All-Star Football game a couple of years ago, playing DE. In fact, he thought he should have been named defensive MVP, but it went to somebody else.
  22. Great. I hope that is the case. He's somebody we need and want in the program.
  23. Why Eddrick Gilmore didn't make the traveling squad for the OU game? Not to make the two-deep is somewhat of a surprise. Not to make the traveling squad is a shock? Injuries, other?
  24. Well, at least he is on the traveling squad. Eddrick Gilmore isn't.
  25. Like I said, a lot of surprises. Mosley running 2nd team, no D. Green, no Dawson, Roman running 2nd team, no Cam, Draylon Ross not even on the traveling squad, etc. etc.
