  1. Sorry, but this is going to be a multi-year project. Anyone who thought differently was kidding themselves. That is where we are talent wise and it will take 2-3 recruiting classes more to get us where we need to be.
  2. Giving him some game experience is how you get him ready to play. He'll come around.
  3. Absolutely. We were facing a top 20 team with 9 players who had played together with a team that has hardly played together at all. It's not where we are now that counts, but where we will be in March. Sure, I'm disappointed, but not surprised. A good team will take this and learn from it.
  4. It surprises our DB's and Linebackers when they are out of position, take bad angles to the play and miss tackles. Some of it is inexperience, some of it appears to be being a step too slow to get away with such mistakes and some it is either the coaches or the players responsibility and I'm not privy enough to know which it is.
  5. That may be, but the only thing that will matter in the end is how we are in March. If we do well then, early season won't matter. In fact, having others with more playing time right now might pay off in the long-run.
  6. I understand that Rome wasn't built in a day. If he is high on the red-shirts and transfers, then I believe he has a pretty good reason. It is not so much giving up on this year (as I see it), but keeping an eye on the future.
  7. Rice game (2208) was the worst I'd seen in 50 years of watching North Texas. However, yesterday's game made me quit watching for the first time ever as it was very bad.
  8. We were all one (freshmen) once. Personally, would love to have some students on our side, instead of alumni who sit and complain about everything from the weather to the game and who act like yelling and enthusiasm at a football game is a crime. Glad they come, but if they cannot enjoy themselves, wish they would pass their tickets on to those who can.
  9. Based on the comments I've gotten locally (out of DFW area), this was the biggest win. People (several of them UT fans and graduates) have mentioned to me about how impressed they were by: 1.The noise and enthusiasm of the crowd...made us look and sound like we belong in the big time; 2. The quality of our athletic complex and 3. the comeback victory and the remarkable plays by Jimmerson. Nobody here even noticed when we beat Indiana. We had a big stage and played it to the maximum and impressed a lot of people who knew little or nothing about us as a football program.
  10. You've got it. First, they are not "debates", they are not even semi-intelligent discsussions of the real issues facing us. Anyone who would base their vote on that farce is a blooming idiot. Second, the politicians know that they cannot tell the truth because people would toss both parties out of Washington so fast they wouldn't know what hit them.
  11. Bingo. This discussion is getting OLD. Lets see what Spring ball brings.
  12. It is obviously a combination of factors. DT would certainly look better with a better receiving corps, but he still has a problem with overthrows. The second can, theoretically, be fixed this year. The first means that we need to recruit some top notch receivers this winter.
  13. Sorry, but we have won before on TV (not national) with empty stands and it did not advance the program. Certainly winning helps, but winning before a large, enthusiastic crowd is what really impresses other people.
  14. Regardless of how the season has progressed or what you may think of the coaches or players, one thing is VERY clear. Next Tuesday, North Texas and the program will be getting priceless National exposure with almost no competing football competition. All students, fans and alumni need to be out in force to make a statement to the world that our program is serious and is bound for better things. A good turnout will do wonders at advancing the image of our school and our program, as well as influencing future recruits. This is something we can all contribute to!
  15. I agree with all of the above. Now is the time for the coaches to get cracking on finding new talent and developing what we do have.
  16. Makes entirely too much sense. It will never happen. Of course, they did just discover that a compound in marijuana inhibits cancer cell growth. Even more reason to keep it illegal.
  17. Me and six others.
  18. Received my seven tickets yesterday.
  19. This defense is focused on creating a positive turn over ratio. So, hard to consider the other possibility. While true, some programs excel in getting a positive turn=over ratio. if thats what we have, then it doesn't matter what the score "might have been" . If Whitfeld have held on to his two potential picks, it could have been a blow out. The bottom line is the team won on the road in a must win situation for the team.
  20. Ugly wins are the bread and butter of good programs.
  21. Class act. We won a conference game on the road. We have work to do, but this was a necessary win.
  22. Hopefully a life lesson for all concerned.
  23. And some fans at WKU were calling for his head. Strange business.
  24. I'm sorry, but have to tell it like it is. Your type of attitude is the biggest problem facing this program, not the players or coaches. If we had consistent fan support, we already would have been a lot further down the road than we are.
  25. ULM traditionally has had pretty apathetic fans. The test will be whenever they lose to FCS and Sun Belt teams. How much fan enthusiasm will be see at that point?
