  1. I think that Lance, alone, is worth the price of admission!
  2. Also, how about Lance Dunbar???? The best back we've had in quite a while, IHO.
  3. First, Dodge as head coach is responsible for all aspects of the game. Second, he is responsible for the quality, or lack of quality, of the recruits. Third, having such an inconsistent and mistake prone offense, puts additional pressure on what is an average defense. Dodge, gets the blame because the last time I looked he was in charge. He also wasted much than a score of scholarships on players who simply were inadequate and did very little defensive recruiting for the first two years here.
  4. At the rate we're going, the other schools will be the ones envying us.
  5. I think what we need is Riley's running and Tune's arm. Anybody know where we can find that QB?
  6. GMoney, Actually you are thinking of Scott Davis, who came in a half-time in the 1987 game against OU (I was painting a fence and listening to the game on radio). He actually moved the team quite well, though we still ended up losing 60-14. Still, the OU radio announcers were impressed with him.
  7. But, Hogan will be coming in.
  8. The entire team needs to have a break-out performance. They have improved to the point where they can stay in the game with most...now they need to figure out how to win and/or how to blow someone out. If they play to their potential, they can do it.
  9. Lindy's picks us to wind the West also.
  10. Full Court Press had this to say about Alzee Williams: "Alzee Williams 6’2” 2009 Mississippi Elite (Jackson MS) Gritty off-guard is an excellent slashing scorer." He made the All-Tourney Team for the National Prep Alliance. This is from a newspaper: "Other action: Mississippi Elite Christian Academy won a close one with Rend Lake College, 74-66. Guy Landry Edi paced the winners with 19 points. Alzee Williams chipped in 16." Also this: http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/...9.6feaadb0.html
  11. Good points, if this is all that is going on. But, based on past history, I suspect Jones & Co. are working on a "big" transfer or two. We've had one each year for the last 3-4 seasons.
  12. Well, unfortunately, we were not a very good team Saturday night. It was not so much a matter of talent as execution.
  13. It's ironic, but I think that Riley Dodge would have been an ideal quarterback for Dickey-Ball, something of a quicker Scott Hall. He generally reads defenses fairly well, can spot open receivers and has the speed to take off when necessary. It's a moot point, but I wonder how he would have done at the helm during the glory years from 2002 through 2004? Oh well, back to the present! I guess the question now is what can get this offense back on track?
  14. I've been pleased with Carey for sure. And, I'm puzzled about the other player who shone in fall camp....BJ Lewis. I know that he reportedly is injured, but it must have been one heck of an injury to keep him out this long...especially when they were singing his praises all throughout fall camp and had him penciled in as a starter. Wonder what his true status is?
  15. This is not directly related to football, but does have major indirect significance for both the university and the football program. This morning's Houston Chronicle compared the seven state universities bucking for inclusion in Tier One status. Here are their rankings on the various categories. Enrollment: 1. UH-37.006; 2 UNT-36.206; 3.Texas Tech-30.000; 4. UTSA-29.133; 5. UTA-28.084; 6. UTEP-21,001; 7. UTD-14,944 SAT scores (2008 freshmen enrollees); 1. UTD-1,248; 2. Tech-1,113; 3. UNT-1,098; 4. UTA-1.065; 5. UH-1,061; 6. UTSA-996; 7. UTEP-982 Ph.D's awarded-1. UH-262; 2. UNT-212; 3. Tech-184; 4. UTA-153; 5. UTD-127; 6. UTEP-59; 7. UTSA-49 Here are the categories where we do not rank well and need to improve: Endowment (in millions of $): 1. UH-$458;2. Tech-$350; 3. UTD-$198; 4. UTEP-$108; 5. UNT-$76; 6.UTA-$53; 7. UTSA $46 Research Funds: 1. UH-$110.4; 2. UTD-$59.3; 3. Tech-$58.7; 4. UTSA-$51.8; 5. UTEP-47.9; 6. UNT-$37.6; 7. UTA-N.A.
  16. The tackling needs to improve and I never want to see another WR bubble screen, but hey, it was Alabama and we are not ready for that. Yet.
  17. I noticed that as well. Also, Jeremy Phillips looked pretty good when he was in.
  18. Or...looking at it positively...if we've got a good young DT
  19. From what I saw (focused on him once I noticed he was in the game), he looked pretty good. Makes me hopeful for the future.
  20. Kyle White, our 309 lb, freshman DT, played in two series in the 4th quarter. Guess that means we are burning his redshirt. On the other hand, I thought he looked pretty good, even if it was against the 2 team Bama OL. I thought Weber looked fairly good today as well. Maybe, we will have more depth in the DL than we thought. Overall, the this was not the best game by either the team or coaches. On the other hand, I saw nothing that would convince me that we can't beat MTSU next week, though we need to correct some obvious things like tackling, pursuit angles, offensive play calling and staying in position.
  21. I and my friends will be there rain or shine. Shame on the wimps!
  22. No. Unfortunately, it was Tubby who unfairly got blamed for the loss.
  23. Next biggest crushing blow was the fumble by Coleman at the A&M game in Texas Stadium in 1997. We were tied with the Aggies 10-10 at the half, we stop them 3 and out on their first offensive drive of the second half and the North Texas crowd is going crazy and the Aggie crowd is totally silent. The Aggies punt to us, we try to field a punt that should have been a clear fair catch at the 40, get creamed, fumble and the Aggies suddenly have the ball back at our 31. You could see the air deflating out of our balloon. A team that was inspired one minute and had momentum, suddenly was completely flat. The rest, they say, is history.
  24. The Ohio game notes have now been posted on the official site: Ohio game notes BJ Lewis #9 is listed as starting WR, but still no real clarification if he will be able to go for the game. I sure hope he is, though!
  25. 19 supporters buying 1,000 tickets each. I guess they would call it a sell-out if 33 buyers bought a 1,000 each and all 33 showed up (which is highly unlikely).
