  1. They have us at 15 seed against Ohio State in Milwaukee. Not the worst match up at all.
  2. While it does look good for next year, replacing Tramiel will not be easy. Hogans, Holman and the new signee will really have to step up. Also, ASU looks to be quite a contender in 2011.
  3. LJ = yet another one of you know who's "splendid" appointments.
  4. According to the official program (which I still have in the attic), 88 was Wayne Wilkins (LDE). 71, making the tackle was Wes Ballou (we sat next to his parents). Leo Taylor was 21, Ron Shanklin 31 and Steve Ramsey was #17. Our starting defensive line was Wlkins, Greene, Gill, Ballou and Atchley. We had Williams, Glen Holloway, Mike Marr, Robert Fisher and Jim Brewster in the starting offensive line. Our receivers were Shanklin and Barry Moore. TE was Bob Helterbran.
  5. No, we lost a close one 15-17. I made the trip up to LR with my wife and a friend. We were sitting on about the 5 yard line and saw the North Texas fumble at the 1-yard line that ended one of our offensive drives. Nevertheless, the Razorback fans were very quiet after the game. They knew they were lucky to have won. By the way, I didn't realize at the time that Deep Green was at the game, but of course, see him at the games often now.
  6. Haven't you heard? We are replacing UT in the Big 12 when the Horns move to the Big 10/
  7. Good analysis, but my answer is still BOTH.
  8. Like you, I miss the Valley too. What I really miss, though, is the student spirit we had in the Pit when we were in the Valley. Of course, if we were in the Valley (or something close....CUSA?), we might have never made those trips to the NCAA. As for progress, I think there has been some for sure. Whether we (or JJ) can take it to another level is a good question.+
  9. Would be much better with a couple of more DE and DT signees or transfers.
  10. Graham was recently named first-team All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association after leading his team and finishing 18th in the nation in tackles with 96. He helped his team to an 11-1 record in 2009 and a win in the CHAMPS Heart of Texas Bowl. His team finished the season ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA poll.
  11. The coaches need to read this and reassess themselves SERIOUSLY before spring practice.
  12. I recall that they all seemed to come at crucial times. In addition, that doesn't tell how many wasted time-outs we had this fall because the clock was about to run out. I know it happened several times. In fact, twice in a row in one of our games.
  13. Being that close to the National Championship deserves a 10-year extension at least.
  14. Are we watching re-runs of the "Keystone Cops"?
  15. So, you are saying that getting "close" in the third year is acceptable progress? It's not at most major programs, which is what we supposedly strive to be. Second, many of those losses appear to be the result of poor coaching, decision-making, etc. The bar has been set MIGHTY LOW, if you ask me and I have been a season ticket holder since the dawn of time and I've yet to see (in more than 45 years of following the Mean Green) such a sloppy performance overall as I have seen this year. I like Dodge and want him to succeed in the worst way, but personally see no evidence that next year will be any different.
  16. where was this effort during the first half?
  17. Pathetic is the word for it. I quit watching a North Texas football game for the first time in my life. I guess I don't have enough masochism in my personality.
  18. You can order one too from MeanGreenGear.com
  19. I'm crying, too. It's a crying shame what happened as our football team shot itself in the foot once again.
  20. He has been a loyal supporter of North Texas. Two of his sons played football here. So what if he was visiting UT and giving out some advice. He is a coach by profession, after all.
  21. He came in replacing Kylie Hill, who was injured in the game. His upside is tremendous and he is being groomed to take the position over next year. He has been compared to Cody Spencer and Brad Kassell. Considering him, Obi, Dunbar and Carey (just to name a few), we have some really nice players for the future.
  22. Or, 25 points from being 6-2...if you throw out the two blowouts. In other words, you can prove whatever you want with statistics.
  23. My heroes for the game: Riley, Dunbar, Obi, Phillips and Gilmore.
  24. In addition, we are still paying dearly for Dodge's inability/refusal to recruit legitimate defensive talent his first two years and wasting scholarships on mediocre receivers and other marginal recruits. I'm sorry, but the buck stops with the head coach. I will be more than happy to support TD if he produces, but time is running short by any Division 1 standards.
