  1. It's not a self inflicted insult. Anyone who follows or has followed UNT knows that the history of this program has been to have a few really good years, followed by more than a few really down years. The insult is that for all the talk that UTSA fans like to do about how great their program is, how they deserve to be where they are, and how heads are going to turn, you've won one game against someone with a winning record. You will win some more in the future, but you're not a big deal, and that's why you're not respected by a majority of this fanbase or any other. If you came at it humbly and more in line with reality, that you're a very young program, you're ecstatic to be a part of CUSA, and the future looks like it could be bright, I don't think you'd run into much resistance outside of the few who truly resent being associated with a startup program. Truth is that your fanbase approaches most situations like this is your training ground for being in the Big XII or SEC in a few years and that no program's history matters because you have none, and it's off-putting.
  2. I'm not a UH fan, but I've got my money on UCF winning 19-14.
  3. A lot of times, it just depends on who was played. In 2003, every single one of our 9 wins was against a team with a losing record. 7 out of 8 wins in 2002 were against teams with losing records, and Cincinnati ended the season on a bowl loss to us, making them 7-7. Out of the two years, we had 9 chances outside of Cincinnati at teams with winning records. Arizona (4-8) and Air Force (7-5) were arguably games that should have been won. The other 7 opponents combined for a record of 70-19. Same as this year, we cannot control the records of UTSA, UTEP, Southern Miss, etc. UTSA is currently averaging half a win against winning FBS competition per year.
  4. How can you say La. Tech will never be ranked when they were ranked just last year?
  5. Reminds me of watching Tulane's games in the Superdome. It's almost like watching a practice. I have no doubt that for some of the people coming up next week, it will be their first experience at a college stadium.
  6. The problem is that a lot of UTSA posters drop hints that they're better than they are. Little Sun Belt championships as if to say the Big XII is in UTSA's immediate future. The problem is that most of them were/are UT-Austin fans that have seen UTSA move from playing Division III schools to being part of an FBS conference in a short period of time. What they don't realize is they've hit the ceiling, at least for the foreseeable future. I'm sure plenty of Longhorn and Aggie fans would take the same smug attitude about winning a Conference USA championship, but you can be sure that if North Texas wins it this year, the trophy will go right next to what we earned in the Sun Belt.
  7. Really seems like Ball State was out coached tonight.
  8. 1966 as a D-1A/FBS program. A lot of 4 and 5 home game seasons, though.
  9. umm... how was that not a safety?
  10. We're currently #3 in the country.
  11. Threw a +1 your way to offset the -1. Good post.
  12. You're right. I had to look at the trend line to confirm.
  13. UTSA has dropped 90% of their games against FBS teams with a winning record.
  14. You're right. It's impossible to compare a program that's been playing college football since 2011 to one that started in 1913.
  15. One time I complained about Hampton Inn's breakfast on Twitter. Came back after work and there was a voicemail on my room's phone, "We're sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the breakfast..."
  16. Most people on here know that I like doing research and plugging the numbers into spreadsheets to come up with some interesting statistics. I decided to turn my attention towards UTSA football. Below is a list I compiled of wins that UTSA has logged against FBS programs with a winning record: Tulane Here's a graph I made: This post has been promoted to an article

Below is a list I compiled of wins that UTSA has logged against FBS programs with a winning record: Tulane Here's a graph I made:

  19. I'm not going to go around on this. You have your opinion that Benford is a good coach. I have my opinion that he's almost as bad of a hire as Todd Dodge. It will take a couple more years (because you know he won't be fired before then) to figure out who was right.
  20. Well, when you said you're willing to give him 3 years, that to me says we should be ok with 2 years of losing, because the third year is where we see whether or not he can win. Maybe you meant something else. I don't know how we'll end the year, but I do know that OU isn't expected to set the world on fire, and it never once looked like we were going to win last night. We had the same coach for 11 years before Benford. I wouldn't classify that as 'consistently changing'. You're egging the wrong guy on when it comes to supporting UNT basketball.
