If...IF...we add baseball, it will be done on the cheap with a ballpark nowhere near Baylor, Rice, or TCU. We'll end up with some cut rate facility like the initial designs that RV was so proud of.

Rangers
ColoradoEagle replied to NT91's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Had a rare chance to sit and watch two full games this weekend. That game yesterday gave me them 2011 feels. Chi Chi Gonzalez looks legit. Could the Rangers make a run this year with more than half the pitching staff occupying the local hospital wing? -
After a decade of talk and/or insinuation from RV about how baseball is 'just around the corner' my eyes roll whenever the topic is brought up now.

Growth in MGC and Season Tickets 2002-2014
ColoradoEagle replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
With the way this athletic department pats themselves on the back and writes up 'feel good' stories after all of our basketball and football losses, the resume bullet point there is: In his tenure as Athletic Director with the University of North Texas, Rick Villareal increased season ticket sales almost 400% and the number of athletics donors by over 500%! -

Smithsonian is very good, and yeah, like all three networks combined. You can actually get it free if you have a Roku, Apple TV, or Fire TV. -

A historically and geographically inaccurate dramatization is still a gigantic improvement over their various pawn, car, and aliens shows. That network is an absolute train wreck outside of Vikings. -

It's the same as having a coach. Either you're happy with where you've peaked, and make no mistake, we've peaked under RV, or you see potential for more. There's no guarantee that whoever we bring in would be better, but it has been proven through the numbers in the first post that we've seen the best we're going to out of this AD. -

MGB: Interesting report on C-USA football ticket sales
ColoradoEagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I've gotten 3-4 calls in the past month (usually during business hours so straight to VM) for renewing season tickets, Coach's Caravan, and joining MGC. Maybe they just really love me. -
MGB: Interesting report on C-USA football ticket sales
ColoradoEagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I see this, "I'm not going to buy tickets until someone calls me and asks" reasoning a lot on here. Makes no sense to me. If you know you want tickets, call and get tickets. -
MGB: Interesting report on C-USA football ticket sales
ColoradoEagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm absolutely astonished that our horrible marketing department, and RV's bare minimum expectations of his employees does not produce results. This stuff will never change under RV. You can throw out thousands of excuses, but in the end, it's the man at the top that sets the example. He's kept Paul Batchelder on staff now for over a decade, despite incredibly awful marketing and advertising. Why try now? -
Could SMU with Morris become a problem for UNT?
ColoradoEagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
In the bigger picture, the separation in G5 is pretty minor compared to the gulf between G5 and P5. It may be a step up to the AAC, and a step up from there to MWC, but it's a grand canyon leap between the MWC and the ACC. -
Could SMU with Morris become a problem for UNT?
ColoradoEagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Projection? Nah. I've seen plenty of angst from fans whenever SMU loses to the old SWC schools. When they lose to schools like UNT, the world is ending, despite both schools being at the same level of competition (G5). -

You took my post to mean "We shouldn't expect any results from coaches!" When what I said was SMU fans' expectations are unrealistic. -
Could SMU with Morris become a problem for UNT?
ColoradoEagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
The issue is and will continue to be expectations with that program. At UNT, we want to make bowl games and compete for a CUSA championship. Getting ranked would be amazing, but most of us are plenty satisfied with competing at our level. SMU wants to compete above their level. I imagine the reason JJ eventually lost interest was because no matter how many bowl games they went to (and won), the complaint was they lost to A&M, or they weren't ranked, or they weren't in a BCS bowl like TCU. That kind of attitude eventually takes a toll on coaches and players. Like having a girlfriend or wife that berates you for having a $250k house instead of a $500k house and a Jeep instead of a Mercedes. Especially combine that with their attendance. Why even try. -
Report: C-USA won't keep UAB without football
ColoradoEagle replied to StealthEagle84's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't care about FIU's campus. At all. What I care about is football games with a hundred people in the stands. Losing to FCS schools. Playing in a glorified soccer stadium with no proper media booth. They have shown even less of a commitment to FBS athletics than we have, something I thought was near impossible. They belong in the Sun Belt at best. -
Report: C-USA won't keep UAB without football
ColoradoEagle replied to StealthEagle84's topic in Mean Green Football
Exactly. There had been a commitment made to athletics at TCU well before they joined the MWC. We're still waiting on that commitment from UNT. -
Report: C-USA won't keep UAB without football
ColoradoEagle replied to StealthEagle84's topic in Mean Green Football
Disagree. We're talking about a school that made a full commitment to athletics vs. a school that won't bother to get rid of a bad basketball coach until it's a minimal financial impact or an offensive coordinator that specializes in QBs, but can't seem to find a QB. -

I really like the idea of going hard after NIU. Wish we could drop FIU. -

Can someone explain the popularization of the term 'leftist'? Is it just something that's repeated daily on Fox News, Glenn Beck, Rush, etc as an insult? -

Fox News is national news as much as Star Wars is a space documentary.
