  1. As weird as it is to think, I would expect to see Texas Tech and Iowa State get left behind before TCU at this point. Their administration and AD really put forth the money and effort to make that program big time in a way that the ones above haven't recently. Texas Tech is incredibly in debt, and even after a year they haven't been able to finance their campaign for south endzone renovations and an IPF. They're definitely feeling the heat. Iowa State at this point probably just knows they need to enjoy the party while it lasts.
  2. If we end the football season anything short of 5-7 (incredibly likely), and Benford isn't gone at the end of the season, I'll be taking a step back. I can stomach a bad season (I am a UNT fan), and I can stomach .500 basketball. If we have a 2-10 season and Benford is gone, I'll stick around. What I can't do is support something where so little effort is put into caring whether we win or lose, grow, or generally improve in anything outside of facilities. This department has twice the budget and a much more prestigious conference than a decade ago and has exactly zero to show for it outside of new buildings.
  3. Watched a few minutes. If you love talk about Iowa and Iowa State, this is the press conference for you. North Texas even gets a shout out once in a while!
  4. Honestly, my expectations (outside of some crazy moments) have always been to be competing for conference championships. Obviously that won't happen every year, but we should always be in the mix to win the conference in football and basketball. When we play teams like Iowa, Tennessee, Georgia, etc I want to take it down to the wire and even win once in a while. What bothers me is we're actually further away from those goals today than when I started school back in '03. Outside of the perfect storm of '13, we've been nowhere near those goals for the past decade in football and ever since hiring Benford. RV is really bad at hiring coaches, and I've never been impressed with his staff hires either. In the off chance that he hires someone truly ambitious, I see them leave after a year or two of dealing with all of his hires that know working for the UNT AD is a job for life if you want it. No expectations, no consequences, no ambition. Makes it easier to understand why this school, Denton, DFW, and the majority of alumni are so apathetic about the Mean Green.
  5. I got so excited yesterday when I saw a Rosa's sign on the pillar next to a concession. And then I found out there was no Rosa's, only stale chips topped with nuclear cheese. I would've cried if not for Rudy's.
  6. They've put up 10 videos on YouTube in the past week. Beyond the Green was next level quality, but they're not lacking in content currently. I wish they'd do Periscope more, not less.
  7. North Texas - 34 Rice - 10
  8. Considering right now we seem to be shooting for being better than UT-Arlington (and failing in some cases), that's a pretty lofty goal.
  9. I would die a happy man if we got to Texas Tech's level.
  10. Serious question, then. If we can buy people out when we need to, then why is Benford still our HC in basketball? It was obvious to almost everyone in year one that he wasn't the guy. Year two absolutely confirmed it. Why do we give more loyalty and benefit of the doubt to coaching hires than we do the fanbase who has dropped off the map since the JJ years? Why go into the fourth year with a guy whose record here is 42-53 (.447), buoyed mostly by patsies (21-33 .389 in conference play)? Either we're broke and can't get out of contracts, or we're not broke but are masochistic.
  11. How much would you be in for the "Todd Dodge Cardboard"?
  12. Point taken. But if quality and distance is the measuring stick here, I've gotta go with oldguystudent and side with NYSH. Which Wich is the chain where the kids at Alliance stole my sunglasses the first day I moved to Fort Worth. I can't get behind a chain that supports that quality of customer service. Just can't. Now I understand. We're trying to teach RV to make decisions, and to live with those decisions. If he got a bad sandwich, it's because HE made it bad. He has to learn how to correct his own mistakes. But then I think the discussion needs to move to providing a means of transport for RV to the Which Wich multiple times, and keeping track of his progress. No?
  13. The number of people in this thread who've never had Great Outdoors... It's just sad.
  14. I would say it was half full at the very most. Plenty of empty seats.
  15. What I saw today was a first week team that hadn't worked out the bugs yet. Not really worried yet based on that. Next week will be the real test of what kind of team this is.
  16. Still taking signups for about 30 minutes. PM your email. I may get stuck auto drafting as well...really hoping to at least do the first few rounds.
  17. Still up to 6 spots left. PM your email today or tomorrow if anyone wants to join.
  18. Up 20-3 now. Bottom of the SBC can't compete with the bottom of CUSA.
  19. Watching Charlotte @ Georgia State and I'll tune into the Rape of Lucretia later. The best game of the day will be dub @ Boise. I'll have to see what I can catch at the bar (no STD jokes).
