Rangers
ColoradoEagle replied to NT91's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I've always felt like the Fort Worth area supported the Rangers more than the Dallas area does, especially in the down years. It'd be interesting to see what the season ticket split looks like. Either way, the Rangers will make the decision that makes the most sense from all angles, and I really think they should go down in stadium size, not up. -
Season over.

We need a coach who can beat the top 75, not the bottom 20.

If Canales had come in and won all 5 of his games, or even 4 out of 5 there would be a strong argument for him. He didn't, which is why he didn't get the HC job. Amazingly, even RV isn't that dumb.

Mac Pre-Portland State Presser

'We haven't been impressed with the 5 minutes worth of play DeMarcus Smith has had, so we're going to continue throwing away minutes in a losing season by playing a senior'. Makes sense. -

DRC Monday column: UNT has tough questions to answer
ColoradoEagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
There's only one tough question to answer: "Does UNT care about athletics or not?" If it does, both RV and Mac will be gone within the next couple weeks. Benford will be gone as soon as it's apparent that he's struggling yet again. My guess is that UNT does not, and that both RV and Mac will return for 2016. Benford will be fired at or near the end of the season. -

Who would your candidates be for AD?
ColoradoEagle replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
This is my feeling as well. This entire athletic department has been subpar ever since I've known UNT athletics. You've got marketing people who can't market, ticket sales who don't follow up on phone calls all the way down to video production turning out products that look like freshman level semester projects and concessions selling stale tortilla chips and hot dogs that taste 6 months past their expiration. There are a handful of people doing excellent jobs, but the vast majority of the department is either clueless, incompetent, unmotivated or some combination of the three. -

If they moved out of Arlington, I'd like to see them in Fort Worth. Honestly, though, they should stay in Arlington. -
Here is the reality of our situation (long)
ColoradoEagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Harry's right, still a lot of season left. On top of that, beer is available at Apogee. Gonna have a good time or die trying at the next 4 games. -

That is all?

Agreed with TTG on both fronts. Dickey was a decent enough coach who was paid in peanuts and recruited kids to something Bobby Boucher would be ashamed of. He was definitely let go for a reason, and I still would not go back and change that. It's the fact that the highest paid coach in the history of this school (by a LOT) can't even hold a candle to DD that's depressing. That's a pretty low bar. The only thing giving me hope at the moment is this should be Benford's last season. I can finally look forward to at least one year of basketball season tickets.

There's no open mic. It's only pre-approved softballs asked by Dave and Hank.- 37 replies

This made me laugh. There was a time on this board where speaking ill of RV would, at the minimum, get your post deleted if not get you banned. The few of us back then who thought he was stumbledoofus had to keep our mouths (at least keyboard mouths) shut. Don't get me wrong, I understand why that was the popular opinion, but it's morbidly funny now.

It's honestly the first time since I started following back in '03 where I've felt like we could see games on a sunny, perfect day with less than 10k in attendance. Maybe even less than 5k if there's a hint of bad weather.

It's hard to invest a lot of yourself when it's obvious that none of the administration/coaching staff does. I invested a ton of myself into the basketball program, just to see it get ripped to shreds by an incompetent hire of an incompetent coach. It takes a special level of masochism to be a UNT fan.

Fun Facts: North Texas-Iowa, Flavor Flav!
ColoradoEagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football

Been mentioning for years that we should do "North" "Texas" back and forth a few times and then both sides do "Mean Green" to end it. Instead we just kinda keep going and going until people lose interest.
