bad press again
ColoradoEagle replied to WIFE2HOT4U's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
She's an idiot. If I were still in school and one of her classes, I'd drop immediately. -
I'm not sure how much I believe this anymore. There was that story about Canales/Smith and how Smith really wasn't ready until a shouting match with Canales where he bought in and started doing the work. Mac probably could've pushed Smith harder, but it sounds like him being ready to start mentally is a recent development.

What's the big obsession with Fritz?
ColoradoEagle replied to cdizzle86's topic in Mean Green Football
I've heard of the FCS success, but the reality is that Georgia Southern is in the Sun Belt now. Low expectation refers to winning that conference, as opposed to winning an FCS championship. It's an even worse situation for him staying there if there's a really high expectation. Either he stays at a place where he may get fired at any moment, or he goes to UNT, doubles his salary, and has a guaranteed five years of pay. Again, if UNT offers him, he's as good as gone from Ga. Southern. -
What's the big obsession with Fritz?
ColoradoEagle replied to cdizzle86's topic in Mean Green Football
He would probably at least double his salary coming here. He would have more money for assistants, a better conference, and a much better chance of being plucked for a P5 program. He doesn't have the connections that the Arkansas State one and dones did with former schools, and Ga. Southern just carries no weight at all. I can see why he would stay there since it's low expectation, but I think he would be stupid to bypass a UNT offer on the table unless he had a P5 school offer. -
2016 UNT Football Non-conference slate is out
ColoradoEagle replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, on the positive side, at least that game will be at 6:00 PM. Not a chance in hell any TV network touches it. -
This is the single best opportunity for a coach who isn't being considered for a P5 job. The facilities, school, and recruiting area are all top notch, and it doesn't take much to compete for a CUSA title. When talking about hires, there are really only 3 coaches to talk about, because that's the recent history. Dickey had very poor facilities and a bad conference to sell, plus he had health issues that ended his run. Todd Dodge was a bad hire, and in way over his head. Mac wasn't a bad hire, but I think his health issues and stubbornness kept him from being as successful as he should have been. If you get someone in here who knows how to coach, can recruit at least to our level, and puts everything they have into it, then we're in the CUSA championship game.
-
Really makes me wish it had worked out. You can argue about what went wrong all day, but talking to Mac you could always tell that he really wanted success for everyone.

It's on the normal FSSW on FiOS (576).

It's almost as if the athletic director should have been a better fundraiser to offer a higher salary...
-
Only 1 winning season in 11 years didn't cause a change. Losing almost the entire basketball fanbase after a bad hire didn't cause a change. Setting a record for worst loss in modern college football history didn't cause a change. Hiring a new president who is supposedly pro-athletics didn't cause a change. What's the worst this banner could do? "We're definitely not making a change now!" Give me a break.

MGB: Villarreal -- "We have things we need to finish here"
ColoradoEagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
For whatever reason, the big donors like RV and that doesn't seem like it will change. They don't see an AD who can't find a winning coach, they see one who tries as hard as he can and luck just hasn't favored him in the coaching search. What RV does have control over (facilities, operations, etc) is going great. Can't fault the guy for coming up snake eyes, and at least we have great women's soccer. It's the kind of slack we give our best friend, when everyone on the outside just shakes their head. The only way we're going to win in any of the major sports in the next decade or longer is pure, unadulterated luck. RV is about to spin the roulette wheel again. Either hang on or leave the table. (I personally don't think finding a good coach is luck, but luck is our only hope with RV at the wheel.) -

Wrong. Winning is the #1 priority. Facilities are great, but no one shows up to watch a loser. That's why you saw a mostly empty Apogee stadium on Thursday. Beautiful facilities with no one there to watch the awful product on the field. I think most fans would agree we'd rather be ranked #20 in the country playing at CH Collins (or whatever other high school stadium is available) than ranked #128 (out of 128, in case you didn't know) at Apogee. Also, facilities were in place when McCarney was hired, so what's the excuse there? -

It's funny that the fan board, the local newspaper, and even ESPN, among others, could call for RV to resign/be fired and he sees that as a vast minority. He obviously is untouchable. Before these comments, I never had anything personal towards RV. I'm not allowed to curse here, so I'll just say I actively dislike the gentleman. -
I will always be a Mean Green fan, but I stopped donating to the MGC years ago. The Benford and Petersen hires really pissed me off. I've always thought this entire Athletic Department (not just RV) is a complete joke, but I've donated money in the past because it's my school. I will buy season tickets for basketball once Benford is gone. I'll buy a season ticket for football once we have a new HC. The MGC will not see another dime until RV lucks upon a major sports hire or he's gone. Whichever comes first.

Would You Give Canales A 1 Year Chance
ColoradoEagle replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Honest question: If he were to fire Cosh, for instance, what DC in their right mind is going to move themselves across the country to work for someone with a one year contract? -
Don't worry. Losing is ok so long as the stadium is new and pretty. Sincerely, The 17

I gotta admit, HFS is pretty good at trolling. Even had me typing out a response.
