Trump negotiated directly with the Taliban and cut out the recognized Afghan government from conversations. The first three things you listed happen in every war. It's not unique to this one. The last two make no sense. I'm sure there'll be plenty of insight into the evacuation as time goes on. There was no "right way" to leave the country. You can't both say, "We should've taken our time and made sure every last soul was out" and on the other hand say, "I can't believe there was a terrorist attack at the airport!" They'd been letting people know for a long time to start making their exit plans based on the knowledge that the Taliban had been emboldened and it was just a matter of time before they retook the country. Biden's choices were to either draw down by the already extended deadline, or to double down and send in more troops and extend the war.

Yes. I agree we needed to get out, and the options for doing that were limited by previous administrations. It was never going to be pretty leaving. That's why Bush didn't do it, Obama didn't do it, and Trump didn't do it. Two trillion dollars later, the government we installed fell within 24 hours. I think that's a pretty good case against continuing to spend money and sacrifice American lives in that country.

Nothing says informed medical opinion like someone who doesn't quite have the time to Google whether or not they spelled the name of a medication correctly.

Not even wearing my homer cap, North Texas brings more to the table than SMU. And before people start hacking out their replies, we're not even close to contention for moving to that conference. There's just no reason that any conference will be chomping at the bit to add a school whose football games regularly see 10-12k actual attendance unless they're playing a B12 or local school. Anyone who was actually in school around the time of the death penalty is in their mid-50s now. Those there during their heyday? In their 60s. Some people just love making a big deal out of that school when in reality, they're no different from Rice.

Immunity. Not total immunity. There’s no such thing as a vaccine with 100% efficacy, doctor.

CUSA East schools looking to break away
ColoradoEagle replied to GreenFlag's topic in Mean Green Football
I would expect some major reorganization between CUSA, AAC, MWC, and SBC after the P4/5 make their moves. Some schools should take the opportunity to move to FCS, but they won't. -
Only because it's a wedge issue. It's just another thing to get outraged about that actually has no bearing on anything ever.

Nothing wrong with it, it's just kinda weird and no one honestly cares. I've been to enough events in my lifetime (NT and otherwise) to know most people are shuffling around, checking their phones, eating, talking, chasing their kids, etc. Most countries only play their anthems during international events. I'm in the boat that would reserve it for special events. As for the specifics of why Mark Cuban temporarily removed it, who knows.

While we're changing this stuff up, can we please get Take Me Out to the Ball Game back for the 7th inning stretch at Rangers games. Been putting up with God Bless America now for almost 20 years.

I really looked hard at electric cars for lease this last time around (May 2019), but, at least at the time, it felt like they're not worth the extra cost unless you drive quite a bit. I've put on about 6500 miles in a little over a year and a half, so I'm not in that group. Some of the new models from major manufacturers are starting to look pretty great. The Mustang Mach-E seems like the first serious competitor to Tesla. Kia is supposed to roll out some new EV this year and next. Do you drive a lot? Have you calculated savings, if any? Also congrats on the new car.

Media bias chart
ColoradoEagle replied to 97and03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Once in a while I'll throw on CNN just to see if there's anything new, but I can't watch more than about 15 minutes of it. Too much "analysis" that is basically "spin alley" 24x7. I prefer to just get news updates from NPR or watch PBS NewsHour while making dinner.
