  1. Schools can't use their endowment for whatever they want. Most of it is earmarked for specific departments, research, etc. by whoever gave the money. If people wanted their money to be used for athletics they would have given it to the athletic department.
  2. They're more interested in being compared to Ivy League schools than Big 12 schools. There's no benefit for them to spend tens of millions on athletics. They're already a world renowned institution that gets the smartest kids and their alumni donate at a level most schools couldn't even imagine. They'll continue to support athletics enough to remain in the picture of Texas collegiate athletics, but they understandably have more important aspirations.
  3. How dare a university put a higher priority on education and research lol
  4. Yes, and I do it to support the program and to make sure I can sit next to my friends in the best seat possible. I don't do it to get the best deal possible. I know there are going to be a few games each year when the athletic department is going to discount tickets to sell as many as possible. And guess what? I don't care. I hope they're doing everything they can to increase attendance. If it bothers some of y'all so much then buy cheaper season tickets or don't buy them at all. There's nothing stopping you from getting the discounted price for a single game ticket.
  5. They only have 1 type of stadium seating that’s mesh. It’s called “Zephyr” and is what the Houston Dynamo have. I’m not 100% positive but I think it’s safe to say that’s what we’re getting.
  6. So you want the AD to block off those sections from being purchased for individual games? That doesn’t make $en$e.
  7. Kick Time Guarantee started last year… If there’s a game you can’t attend, you can exchange it for an extra ticket to another game. For example, let’s say you can’t make the SFA game. With Kick Time Guarantee you can exchange it for an extra ticket to the Wyoming game. It’s actually a really good deal that allows you to get the full value of your season tickets.
  8. Guessing these are the seats being installed. These are the mesh seats with cup holders DreamSeat installed at Houston Dynamo’s stadium. A big upgrade over the metal bleachers and the temporary seatbackings offered in the past.
  9. Corporate released a statement saying they're working to reopen all DFW locations ASAP.
  10. Obviously, this can only be a net positive for student attendance. I just think it will be a VERY minor positive as long as the team is mediocre to bad. I have to assume the "Maniacs" were already going to football games and encouraging others to do the same. I think this announcement just means the leaders of the "Maniacs" are now getting paid by the AD to use the official Maniac's social platforms to increase student awareness of football games.
  11. This is confusing to me. Weren't the "Maniacs" already going to football games?
  12. Ah, the mighty Darrell Dickey who went 2-7 against G5 competition outside the Sun Belt between 2001-2004. And that's not even counting 2 losses to TCU, who was G5 at the time. #StirringThePot
  13. Where do you think SMU and the other lower level P5s are going when the top 40ish programs break away? I guess technically it will be better since there will be other P5 castoffs, but in terms of hierarchy, SMU will be back at the kids table with other G5s.
  14. Assuming its per every new NCAA game (IE per year).
  15. Hate to nitpick your point, but Kansas? I don't see it right now. They're still so far behind in football. I know they've been improving and have a stadium remodel on the way, but other schools are better positioned to compete. IMO, schools like TCU, Okie St, and Texas Tech are in better position to move up if the SEC/Big 10 kicks out members.
  16. This is what the G5s need to be doing. Using every legal option they have to keep their lone spot in the CFP, while having their own G5 postseason tournament. I imagine it would generate a lot more interest and money than random bowl games played in empty stadiums. The top ranked G5 team should go to the CFP, and the next 12 best teams should be in a tournament that's played on campuses. The only game that's off campus should be the championship. Maybe rotate it between Atlanta, NOLA, Dallas, and Houston.
  17. This will still happen if the G5 forms its own league. The only thing that will stop it, or slow it down, is player contracts.
  18. Texas Monthly ranked Truth #3 in Texas in 2021. Of course this is all subjective, but Truth is definitely one of the top spots in Houston. Personally, it's my favorite. Pinkerton's and Pit Room are also very good.
  19. Probably could have won if our Scrappy costume didn't look like something we rented from a mall costume shop.
  20. I agree with you. Metzler's isn't great.
  21. Texas Monthly did not put this together. Whoever runs the TXFB twitter handle just grabbed the BBQ spot closest to each school that was ranked in Texas Monthly's top 50.
  22. Not sure when it started, but at least a decade ago. There's a massive mural on Hickory St where the coffin races take place.
  23. No reason? How about losing 90% of our offense to the transfer portal and a defense that still looks extremely weak.
  24. Yes. Outside of the Jazz Festival its the biggest event Denton has. Part of the Square is blocked off to traffic. Logistically and financially it doesn't make sense to have the events on the same day. I know some really want the homecoming parade to return. Well, its not going to happen if they keep scheduling Homecoming the same weekend as Day of the Dead.
