Mean Green- 34 Bulldogs- 26

Okay, I assumed his tease yesterday was in reference to Littrell's job security. Guess it just meant we've never looked better than La Tech on paper and an opportunity we shouldn't blow.
-
I’m guessing Zach has heard from his UNT sources what it’s going to take for Littrell to keep his job and a loss to La Tech is going to make it very unlikely. Hopefully, he provides some specifics.

How many wins triggers Seth extension?
UNTcrazy727 replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Football
It’s a hypothetical conversation so I’ll reply by saying anyone who thinks a coach who wins 8+ games and makes the conference championship should get fired needs an even harder kick to the nuts. -

No way we beat them? Hard disagree. We’re going to give them all they can handle. IMO, UTSA has not looked overly impressive this year. Lost to a mediocre UH at home, barely squeaked by a bad Army team in OT, and they were only beating TX Southern by 11 after 3 Qs. Their defense makes them very vulnerable.- 70 replies

How many wins triggers Seth extension?
UNTcrazy727 replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Football
If we finish the year (counting bowl game) with 7 wins there’s no way Littrell is back. 7-6 ain’t cutting it after the last few years. 8 wins probably gets him an extra year and 9+ gets him a couple. -

You would fire a coach who just won a conference championship? Isn’t that exactly what everyone here has been wanting Littrell to do? -

He said we’re currently undefeated and tied for first in conference and to suggest there’s nothing a coach can do in that situation to be retained is ridiculous. How is that supporting mediocrity? -
Have you seen pictures of the crowds? Butts in seats is way closer to 15K-20K. Yes, that's U-G-L-Y for a once proud P5 program.

A Silver lining from the SMU beating?
UNTcrazy727 replied to Tom McKrackin's topic in Mean Green Football
No one was showing up en masse to UTSA games last year until they were about 7-0. They deal with apathy just like us. Stop acting like they’re some giant, unstoppable force in G5 football. They still lack administrative and alumni $ support. They couldn’t even fund an actual indoor practice facility. And the DFW media doesn’t care about us because we’ve never given them a reason to. If we started 11-0 and ranked in the top 25, they would LOVE us. -
Will coaching carousel hit Group of 5 soon?
UNTcrazy727 replied to Greenrex's topic in Mean Green Football
If we go 6-6, Littrell is fired and we have an interim HC for the bowl game. It gets interesting at 7-5. Does Wren give him a chance to win the bowl game to finish with a respectable 8-5 record or do we pull the plug and not potentially waste 2-3 weeks on the coaching search? Because I don’t think there’s a chance Littrell is back if we lose the bowl game and finish 7-6. -
North Texas finishes the year with a winning record
UNTcrazy727 replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
The Sun Belt back then was the worst conference in this history of FBS. Today’s CUSA is a juggernaut in comparison. Dickey’s teams saw little success outside Sun Belt play. Yes, our schedules were full of body bag games, but between 2001-2004 we also lost OOC/bowl games to TCU x2, South Florida x2, Troy, FAU, Southern Miss, Air Force, Memphis, and Colorado St. Don’t disagree with your point about Littrell. I just think Dickey’s success is sometimes overrated.- 40 replies

UTSA game implications
UNTcrazy727 replied to NorthTexasSportsNetwork's topic in Mean Green Football
It’s going to be very tough to beat them with our defense. Luckily, UTSA’s defense isn’t very good either so we should put up plenty of points. I just don’t think we’ll be able to put up the 40 that will be needed. -
These are the best helmets in UNT history!

This has always bothered me. We all know the SOW is too big, but they’ve refused to fix it. -
Any plans for a new stadium? Kanas probably has the worst P5 stadium.

The ones from a few years ago? It's pathetic those were only run once and never seen again. We should ALWAYS have an apple green flying worm polo stocked. Just another example of failed merchandising by our atheltic dept and vendors. -
Yeah, he was clearly checked out when him and Smatresk worked to get us into the AAC

I guess it depends on what being competitive means to you… Are we good enough right now to compete for the AAC championship? No. But are we good enough to win 4-5 conference games and get to a bowl? Yes.

We left about 24 points on the field due to dumb mistakes. I don’t think that happens if we play them now. I also think we’re able to move the ball more consistently. SMU’s run defense has proven to be pretty bad. That said, we still lose by 14-17 pts because our defense would still get smoked.
