UNT finally changes logo on ESPN
UNTcrazy727 replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
They have to make a request for ESPN to change it. Initially, ESPN grabs whatever logo they think we want to use. They probably used the UNT Eagle logo because we use it so much (which needs to stop). So glad this was finally fixed. It has been bugging me for years. -
Yes, exactly. How good your opponents are is a big factor in how many games you'll win. There are 4 teams on our schedule also going through "rebuilds" and there are 4 teams most would say we are better than. I don't think we'll be great this year, but we have 8 very winnable games. To think we are only capable of winning 2-3 of those games is very pessimistic, IMO.

Cal, Navy, Tulsa, and UAB are in the same situation as us. And I don't think its a big stretch to say we have better talent than ACU, FIU, La Tech, and Temple.

2 or 3?! We should cover that in OOC. We will likely be favored or only a 1 score underdog vs FIU, La Tech, ACU, Navy, Temple, Tulsa, UAB, and probably Memphis. IMO, there's little reason we shouldn't win at least 5 games.

Yeah, that's not great... I can't say I ever hear anyone refer to us as the "Mean Green Machine". The one I hear is "Aren't y'all the Mean Green Eagles?"
-
This is the only time I can recall it being said as well. Didn’t have a problem with it. We “wrecked” brackets by beating Purdue. Not sure where OP is seeing other references.
-
They are extremely hard to find. I've been pushing Voertman's and UNT to get more golf gear on shelves, but haven't had much luck. UNT golf towels, tees, ball markers, head covers, and pitch mark tools are all RARE finds.

Exactly! Even UTSA was smart enough to figure this out. Doesn't take a graphic designer to figure out which one looks better. University: Athletics:

This is a score bug. Most of the time there's not enough space to write out "North Texas." What I think Jared is saying is instead of having "North Texas" shortened to "N.Texas" we'll use "UNT" instead. The logo should just be the Diving Eagle.
-
Reading between the lines, get ready for a lot more “UNT”.
-
I don’t think that’s what he’s saying. He’s referring to the score bug on TV broadcasts saying “UNT” instead of something like “N.Texas”
-
One game suspension seems very light for a crash caused by a DWI. I think you’re right though. Doubt we see another punishment.
-
What's funny is during our NIT run Ryan Peck confirmed the AD does not want the UNT Diving Eagle logo used on TV broadcasts, score bugs, ESPN App, etc. It should always just be the Diving Eagle. I totally agree with that. However, if that's the case, why do we use the UNT logo all the time??? That's going to make people think its okay to use as our primary logo.
-
I think you’re right. If I had to guess, the UNT System is forcing this on athletics. They’re trying to grow the UNT system into a monster and they know athletics is the best way to promote the university. So instead of allowing athletics to keep the “North Texas” branding they are forcing it to adopt the UNT name. I’m sure some marketing consultant convinced UNT admins people are too stupid to make the simple connection between North Texas and UNT. Never mind schools like Oklahoma (OU), North Carolina (UNC), Texas State (TSU), Boise St (BSU), and San Jose St (SJSU) make it work.

“But U-N-T (Who!) U-N-T, we love” doesn’t work for me either

Is UNT Changing Their Scheduling Philosophy?
UNTcrazy727 replied to Side.Show.Joe's topic in Mean Green Football
Okay, it’s still a G5 program. And Houston was just an example. The point is, I’d rather stay at 6 home games and schedule H/Hs with known programs than buy 7th home games with FCS opponents. -

We play at Army in 2029. That's a road G5 game. And what makes you so sure we won't schedule road games as part of a H/H series (especially in '28 and '29) that see us getting a return games in 2031 and beyond? For example, I'd much rather schedule a H/H with Houston that sees us on the road in 2028 and the Cougars coming to Denton in 2031. -
Add Florida Atlantic to that list. They just announced they’re dropping FAU from athletics branding and only using the Owl logo, Florida state outline, and Florida Atlantic.
-
Because it’s another leadership group wanting to put their stamp on the university. They couldn’t care less that it’s abandoning decades of established branding and tradition. What pisses me off about is the total lack of communication from the University and Athletic Department. We’ve been trending towards this change for 4-5 years and there hasn’t been one official announcement.

We’re in the best G5 conference. Beating an FCS school isn’t going to hurt our chances as long as we win the AAC. -
What Bugs You About Today's State of College Football?
UNTcrazy727 replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Football
I said Players Transferring. It's the worst by-product of NIL. Players should only get 1 free transfer. After that, you have to sit a year.
