I guess for UNT he was a great coach, but when you look at the whole picture (OOC record and bowl performance) I think it really just shows how bad UNT football has been over the years and how bad the Sun Belt was in the early 2000's.

I never said you can't get someone to be involved on campus, it's just a whole lot easier when they come in already excited to be there. And on the camps freshmen go to before school starts. UNT needs to completely overhaul theirs. Everyone I've talked to that went to Camp Crimson at OU or Fish Camp at A&M say those few days are some of the best days they had at school. Meanwhile, everyone at UNT seems to consider what we have some of their boring-est days at UNT. I helped work a few of them once and they were pretty dull. Let's change it up a bit and get kids excited about North Texas

I sorta agree with this statement and I think it's a reason why student participation is low on campus when it comes to student organizations and athletic events. When you have a bunch of kids coming to your school just because its the only one they could afford or its close to home you're going to have a harder time getting them involved compared to a kid who had in interest in the school since they were little.

What an Alabama Writer has to do this Season
UNTcrazy727 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Sorry, forgot our first game was on a Thursday. And I never wanted to argue anything. I was just saying what I've been taught since I've been at UNT, which is Mean Green is the name we go by and the Eagle is our logo and mascot. No one has to tell me the history between the two. Trust me, I've had to explain it to what seems like a thousand people. Like one of my fraternity brothers says, "I came to UNT for the pride and prestige of the Eagle and Go Mean Green!" -

That when referencing our athletic teams in the media it should be the Mean Green not Eagles. It's confusing when your football team is called by two different names. -

I think a lot of people have completely misunderstood what I'm trying to say. I know our mascot is the eagle and I know that's what we were known by for a long time. All I'm saying is that when talking about our athletic teams it's the Mean Green. -

Because the NT Daily is known for being right all the time... I forget, what's our new stadium called? Eagle Stadium or Mean Green Stadium? -

Not sure, but I know that they're not the Lady Eagles. -

This seems to happen once every football or basketball game. -

Not sure how you think I'm being combative. I'm just simply stating that "Mean Green" is the name that represents our school, not "Eagles." I know that the Eagle is on all of our products and I believe it will always be apart of the school's culture (as I said in my previous post...) -

Maybe if you would have kept reading my post you would have saw what I think about this. -

Look, I know when most people on this board went to UNT we were known as the "Eagles", but that isn't the case anymore. You'll be hard pressed to find any UNT apparel with Eagles on it and they'll only become more rare over time. The eagle will always have it's place in UNT culture (ex. Scrappy, logo, and being in the fight song). However, the name of our athletic teams is the North Texas Mean Green, not North Texas Eagles. -

Dude, you proved my point. Our mascot is an eagle, and our school nickname (what your teams go by) is the Mean Green. Our nickname was the eagles, but didn't the school officially change it to the Mean Green in the early 2000's? -

Ugh...we're not the eagles. -
I'm pretty sure they sell the 9x9 in the union bookstore. They did last year.
-
No, because in real life when we're on tv "North Texas" will be said by the announcers and most likely on the front of our jerseys. I think people will figure it out
-
If they broadcasted to an area with a population as large as DFW then yes they would. Like I said before, KNTU broadcasts to DFW, not just Denton. DFW is a pro sports town and one could argue so is Denton with the lack of support UNT receives.
-
Ugh...that's even worse than Green Lantern
-
I had high hopes for Green Lantern, but it sucked lol. It seems like Warner Bros can't make a good DC film outside of Gotham City.
-
KNTU is a metroplex station, not just Denton. While the coverage will be mostly centered around UNT they will cover any sports story that has revelance in DFW.
-
I heard the same thing too, but it seems like if anything as big as a concert was being planned we would have heard something by now. Hopefully, they can surprise us.

What exactly is there to report about the UNT team right now? I'm sure they probably needed stories to fill time and a couple came up on the wire about UT and OU. I would rather have something about UNT too, but our football team isn't exactly a hotbed for stories during the summer.
