No UA jerseys coming. Spoke with UA, they do not produce college jerseys for the public. UA contracts with Gear For Sports to embelish the UA jerseys. They have had several inquiries to purchase jerseys but not enough volume to justify production. Jerseys (anyones) have to be ordered in Feb (one time, once a year). I could have ordered but would have had to spend many thousands to do it and after I took the bullet for that then the sales rep would be selling them to everyone else as fast as possible. The ONLY way to get jerseys from UA for the 2009-2010 season is for enough people to commit to buy before Feb. Mean Green Gear (the official supplier for NT Athletics) needs to pony up and spend the cash. From what I can tell so far...buy knock off cause UA ain't comin!

Poll On Cusa Board - Favorite Expansion Candidates
ShopMeanGreen replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Good point but I always use a non UNT alias on other boards. -
I guess to turn all of the red in the stands green you have to turn the green field orange. I would take Nebraska's stadium also.

OR...gets their butt kicked! What a snob. I could understand that statement from LSU but come on, LaTech is NO LSU.

Tulsa World - Cusa Rumored To Lose Ecu, Memphis
ShopMeanGreen replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Does this get us a whole lot more than we have now? Yes there are some slightly bigger names but without strong conference leadership to get more bowl games, TV time etc what would we really have. Taking existing bowl games is fine but trying to add more won't be a good situation. Unless C-USA goes away to form a new conference I don't think it will be any different than the Sun Belt. -
Tcu To Get $15 Million For Football Field Renovation
ShopMeanGreen replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Football
Texas Tech did the same thing a couple years ago. The field and the lower level are unchanged but a bunch of nice indoor/outdoor boxes and a nice facade was added. I think about 62M worth. No seats were added other than the boxes but they sell for a much higher price. -
What Do We All Want From Stadium Santa?

After the WKU game last year I am especially interested in indoor box seats. -
New Proposed Unt Football Stadium
ShopMeanGreen replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
I would guess there will not be a ground breaking anytime before the end of the next football season, maybe 2. There can and should be 2 sets of plans done, 1 of 30K and one with the addition to 50K. If the stadium starts filling up consistently the next 2 seasons then the 50K plan can be used. If 30K is filled up on a regular basis then there will likely be enough money to add on. There is no reason to build anything bigger than 30K if there is no chance to fill it up. -
Residential Vs Commuter Rated Universities.
ShopMeanGreen replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
I remember reading this the first time this topic came along and wondered how in the world Tech could be considered a commuter school. Commuting from where??? I finally figured that larger schools having fewer dorms forced more students off campus but not commuting from a great distance. Believe me there can't be more than a handful of Tech students traveling more that 20-30 miles to school but there are a lot of apartments/student houses nearby. -
Nt Football 1958: Have We Really Upgraded The Program
ShopMeanGreen replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
Makes me a little sad. If Coach Fry had stayed and pushed for the SWC maybe NT would be in the Big 12 instead of Tech or Baylor. Not coming to a vote means nothing, everyone may still have voted no even thought they told NT they were in support. My point was not to dwell in the past but no matter what position we are in right now we must always push forward. We may be in the right spot next time the conferences are shaken up. -
More Answers On Apr, Scary Quote On Future
ShopMeanGreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Equestrian....yes. Most Eq programs are for females to help with the Title 9 issue. There is money out there to build the program and DFW is a hot spot for English and Western sports. The collegiate competitions used borrowed horses from the area, so kids don't have to take their own. A nice facility that would pay for itself could be built for $500K or less. The Denton area is begging for a nice Equestrian Center. Most of the kids that compete in the equestrian word are indeed rich...they have to be to have the horse , care, equipment etc.. Not football but I like it. -
Nt Football 1958: Have We Really Upgraded The Program
ShopMeanGreen replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
Shows how important the conference is. I lay a lot of blame on Dr. Hurley et al for the tremendous short sightedness of the importance of athletics to the overall academic quality of the university. I don't know all of the details, some of you really old people may, about the events that caused Coach Fry to leave but I hink NT was making a lot of noise over the SWC and if things had continued in the same direction NT would not have gone down to 1AA and been in a better conference today. Texas Tech Loses Over $200,000 On Bowl Appearance
ShopMeanGreen replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Boo Hoo. Isn't breaking even on travel what is suppose to happen??? What does Tech get from the Big XII every year? What about all of the other teams in the BigXII that go to bowl games? They may have had to pay out $200K for travel but they did not lose money going to the bowl. Gleason is an assistant AD and the bean counter (CFO) not the AD. Gerald Meyers is the AD. Tech isn't going broke anytime soon. They would gladly go back this year if asked. -
What Would The Answer Be Today ?
ShopMeanGreen replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
The way I understand it, with the relaxation of the bowl eligibility rule and having 12 reg season games, during most seasons conferences will produce about as many bowl eligible teams as bowls. That tells me that the other conferences are doing what they can to get all of their teams in bowl games and increase their financial gain by playing a 1-AA and weaker teams from other conferences. As the quality of SBC teams improves it will do 2 things: 1 may create more bowl spots for the SBC to use and 2. make it harder for SBC teams to schedule the lower to middle teams from other conferences leaving only the LSU, Texas and OUs. Either way looks to me the conference administrators should be doing more get bowl games for the SBC cause having better teams along won't cut it. I have no idea what I am talking about just makes common sense. -
What Would The Answer Be Today ?
ShopMeanGreen replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
With the latest bowl addition and realignment the SBC did not get even a mention, publically at least. It really doesn't make any difference how good the teams have gotten if the bowl tie ins TV time etc. aren't increasing. Are there better teams in the SBC than some teams in every other conference...probably, still doesn't provide the $$$. So I also would say the SBC is in neutral. Not a bad place to hang out until we are ready for the jump. -
Smut Finally Signs Two Game Contract.....
ShopMeanGreen replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
1AA wins count toward bowl eligability. Ponies want to make sure they get a bowl. -
Yes they have. UNT pays CLC to police the use of all of the university branding, which of course "Mean Green" is included. There is always the discussion of what actually pertains to the university. There is a cleaner named Mean Green and a few other products that have nothing to do with the university. The name Mean Green is much harder to protect than "University of North Texas" because there is no question as to what that refers. Nfl Draft By School & Conference
ShopMeanGreen replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
SBC had 3 drafted. Least of any 1A conference. Is that because there were only 3 draft quality players or because the conference gets no respect??? Can't justify leaving the conference at this point but would have the bags packed if an offer comes. -
I would also add that the article reminds me of 6th or at best 7th grade work.

Excellent sugestion, got a new catalog containing magnetic decals just the other day. Pricier than I thought. See what I can do. Todd

I may have plenty of room around me now but some day when the new stadium is built and NT moves into the top 25 my seats will be premo.
-
Not my rule, talk to the Athletic Dept. I have set there for several years and I guess I do think the 50 yard line is better. I want to support the University and have no problem donating the extra money. If it's a big deal sit somewhere else. Tech also has non-premium seats...in the end zone. When the new stadium is built guess where I will sit.

Interestin that TCU attendance was 62K with a low TV rating. Home field and no one else cared??? NO bowl was still the least attended. Seems people would rather watch on TV than go.
