Buying A Daily Ad To Support The Stadium Vote
ShopMeanGreen replied to rcade's topic in Mean Green Football
I am still offended by the "keep my nose out of it" part of all of this...just smells bad to me. Only thing I can say if we leave this up to the students then they better get the job done. After the vote...and it passes...it goes to the BOR then to the state, but where? HOR or Senate? I will be glad to do what I can to make sure the HOR or Senate gets the message. Todd -
I've got to hear this one.

The Opposition Is About To Begin Advirtising
ShopMeanGreen replied to aprice's topic in Mean Green Football
I understand the point of not having involvement from the alumni but I fought for athletics while attending NT and am insulted by the thought that tis is up to the students and is not my university or my money. I give more in 1 year than any student will be taxed in 4 years total. What if 1 of my kids wants to go to NT, the fee will still be in place. I will stay out of it but don't insult me again by saying this is any less my battle simply because I am not currently a student. I will now take my blood pressure medicine and go back to my old man job. -
I love the stance that a new stadium is not needed because "I don't want it" or "I don't use it". I don't mind people having an opinion but at least think about the big picture, weigh the pros and cons then make an informed decision.

I never feel too bad about what the media says. They write articles based on stats. There is a canned article for this type of "rout". They don't see the improvements we do.
-
What a sad commentary. This may be the exact reason NT doesn't have the support we all want. Where are these people locked up??? Man, I hope thousands don't feel this way but I am afraid to think it a possibility. I left NT 18 years ago and still love to go to campus and look around. Maybe my life is just much better. I hope the students "for" can get out the correct facts and sway a few of the poor miguided souls.

Yes, I grew up there...I can promise you Riley is already having more fun than Tre'
-
Difficult to know what is going through someone elses head. We all (media included) put Riley in the role of QB, maybe he has lost some intrest in QB, maybe the coaches know that Vizza will be truely exceptional the next 2 years. Riley is a great athelete and maybe he can do more in other spots. Why have a great athelete that can do lots of things sitting around waiting for a great QB to retire. We all talk about coming to NT and playing instead of sitting on the bench in Austin. I can promise you Riley is already having more fun than Tre'.

Flyer, any flyers, handouts or signs planned for the day or 2 prior to voting. I would not be opposed to providing a little financial support if needed. Only if legal of course

Tech's offense has not lived up to it's potential in the first 2 games. It is quite evident here in Lubbock that Leach is not happy with the performance. Tech has never let up on anybody. If Tech can score 100 points and get 1000 yards passing to make their stats look better they will. I predict the Tech offense will be more productive in the third game of the season and the SMU score will be Tech by 50 at half.

I got married 18 years ago and went to the Ft.Worth Zoo for our honeymoon then back to work. No matter what happens it's all good.

Alleva Hopes To Make Lsu-unt Decision Wed.
ShopMeanGreen replied to Will to Win's topic in Mean Green Football
What would Atlanta do to travel costs? Atlanta is also in SEC territory so I can see why they would want the game there. Does NT have to agree to whatever LSU wants to do? If not why not... say sorry we won't go to Atlanta, come to Dallas or pay us off. Likely wishful thinking that the little guy would have any say in the matter. -
Ksu's Pre Game Introduction....
ShopMeanGreen replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
I would take ANY one of those with 44,999 of my friends chanting with me. Nothing compairs to Auburn's War Eagle or TX Tech's horse to get the crowd going. -
I'm going. Just hope I can find Manhattan!

Point Spread Already Out...starts At 25
ShopMeanGreen replied to SHOSS's topic in Mean Green Football
25 is likely the "off the cuff" spread with absolutely no information involved. If the pundants had to think about a Big 12 vs Sun Belt game very hard they would get a headache. Picking this game at less than 25 would be unheard of and if the game is close then KSU had a bad game and if there is an upset then OMG how could a Big 12 team get beat by a Sun Belt team. Another example of the process of belittleing the underling conferences. Another good example of why the Sun Belt gets no respect no matter how good the teams are or how well they play. Look for several Sun Belt upsets this year because there are some good teams...just don't wait for any respect too close behind. I think there is a very good chance UNT-KSU will be much closer than 25 points. -

Isn't Chase Daniel and Graham Harrell in the big 12??? Big XII Website From the Texas Tech Website BTW KSU is picked just above Iowa State in the Big XII North. Guess that's why they don't play Ohio Sate etc. for a non conf game. All you have to do is win 6 to get a bowl in the Big XII. -
I am as frustrated as you are. I wish I had a more permanent setup to offer merchandise for sale. I am disappointed that it has taken me this long. But I promise that the jerseys and a lot of other great merchandise will be available shortly. You will be able to buy an UA jersey before the 2009-2010 season. In the mean time there is a good selection of true Mean Green merchandise at www.shopmeangreen.com (Harry you can send me an adv bill) I wish I could make the same promise on the stadium. Todd

They know who the rep is. Maybe putting that bug in their ear will encourage them to drop 10 grand on UA Jerseys. Also remember the athletic department controls what number is used.

One of my goals is to keep prices as low as possible. Right now the only outlet I have is a couple tents in MGV prior to football games. The main problem with that is it's hard to sell enough product to justify the expense. There aren't really a whole bunch of people in MGV cause there really isn't much going on in there for people to come to...but that's a different topic. I am now also turning my attention to wholesale, getting more merchandise on the shelves of retailers all over the metroplex. It is very difficult to penetrate some of those markets. Yes, that sounds stupid but true. There are many hoops to jump through to sell to major outlets like Academy, Dick's, Sports Authority etc. They have expressed an intresat and even managers say they are screaming for NT merchandise but told it isn't available. I would also like to open a retail store in Denton that carries only NT merchandise but I live in Lubbock so running a store in Denton is difficult. I would also run into the problem everyone else has and that's finding merchandise to sell. I would have the same things as the Bookstore and Voertman's has now (although I already carry more true Mean Green color). The UA Jerseys are completely out of my hands. The retail price comes in at about $60 each. That's $18,000 worth of product (300 jerseys). Wholesale at best cenerio (we didn't get far enough to talk absolute numbers) would be about $10,000. Sounds like an easy $8000 until they don't sell. If the only place I can sell them is online or before football games I know I can't sell 300. Also remember that GFS would also be selling wholesale as fast as possible so those who want one now will go to Voertman's or the Bookstore to buy one. Keep your chin up things will improve and this will all be a blur in a couple of years. SIDENOTE: If the University and others not mentioned would deal with an Alum.... (ME) things may go faster.

All of the UA apparel goes through Gear For Sports who adds the logo, numers etc. The sales rep for TX told me (as I remember during my shock) they would have to sell about 300 jerseys. I was told that he had several inquires but no one thought they could sell more than a couple dozen. I asked if I bought the 300 would he give me an exclusive so I could sell them to other retailers. I was told no and that if I bought 300 then he would be free to sell to other retailers by the dozen. I will try to coordinate with other retailers ( hopefully I will have several that buy from me by then) to generate enough orders for GFS to produce the jerseys for next year. All jerseys have to be puchased before March 1. (1 order, 1 time, period) Todd

I agree. I just think until there are lots of retailers selling NT merchandise we are stuck. Nike would have been easier to get merchandise from. I can buy Nike from multiple distributors.
-
I haven't been to the bookstore so I can't say why they would sell more UA. I do know that the bookstore is totally seperate from the University. The bookstore is a seperate company that rents space from the University. Anyone can buy UA wholesale then offer it retail. I assume the bookstore, Voertman's etc would think since the team wears UA it would sell well. I also know that several retailers (University Bookstore Voertman's etc) wanted to buy UA NT Jerseys but didn't feel they could sell the minimum amount Gear For Sports would supply. I personally have several problems with UA in general, (as pretains to NT) 1. There is no kelly green. 2. it is very expensive. 3. to purchase any UA decorated apparel it must come from one place, so I could not spend the required thousands to get NT jerseys and then re-distribute them to other retailers without making the price go above what the market would bear and even if I did they would not give me an exclusive on the product so once I purchased their minimum then everyone else could buy them by the dozen instead of hundreds. If there were a hundred retailers each buying a dozen there wouldn't be a problem getting them. The fact that more UA has appeared at NT has nothing to do with any form of contract between the University and UA.

It appears to me that UA is not a sponsor at all. They sell lots of uniforms (ie Southlake Carroll) but they aren't sponsors. NT simply buys uniforms from UA and nothing more.
