The sad truth is its not the financial institutions that lose money its the merchants, the bank just reverses the charges and takes the money out of the merchants account. The bank is not out anything other than processing costs and the bank doesn't lose a dime while merchant is out the original sales amount and inventory costs. Also unless Denton wants to make an example out of him very little is going to happen the truth is its too low a priority. I handled loss prevention duties at a major retailer for over five years and dealt with this on a daily basis. One example of a PD's apathy involved over $5k worth of product, I filed paperwork, documented evidence etc and the police officer flat out told me he didn't have time to mess with it. I agree he should pay back the charges and hopefully learn a valuable lesson.

Drc: Unt Students To Vote On Fee / Stadium Monday
ScreamingEaglesFan replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
This was some gold that 3XNTGRAD posted that definately merits repeating from the book Down the Corridor of years. Link to original post According to the "Story of North Texas", UNT built eleven buildings in 1950-1952, including Fouts. As a comparison in light of the need to replace Fouts, what has been the fate of these other buildings from that time period? 1950 - Lab School - demolished (I'm assuming this building was the old "Houston Hall" that was destroyed for the parking garage to be built) 1950 - Men's Gymnasium - refurbished and still in use 1951 - Masters Hall - demolished in 2008 to make way for new Life Science Complex 1951 - Women's Gym - still in use 1951-1952 - Quadrangle Dormitories and cafeteria (5 buildings total) - Cafeteria and one quad demolished, 2 Quads totally renovated for Music Practice, another renovated (so 3 of 5 still in use) 1952 - Kendall Hall - scheduled for demolition 2009 to make way for new Business complex 1952 - Fouts So, of the 10 other buildings built at the same time as Fouts, 5 have been or will shortly be demolished. 3 of them have been renovated (two extensively) and re-purposed. Only two of the 10 are still in use in a way similar to their original purpose. It is fairly obvious from this list that things designed 58 years ago don't fit the present needs of the university and should be either replaced or re-purposed when possible. Since there is no other purpose that Fouts can serve, replacement of this outdated infrastructure is the only real solution. Okay - I know I'm preaching to the choir, but just thought the comparison would be interesting. -

I guess they took it down, I tried with no luck also. As far as AUI they worked on the AAC and Terminal D at D/FW Airport both of which were HKS projects. Also with the signage I wonder if they've thrown something our way to get the exposure. -
Haven't heard when the official schedule will be released but this looks like there are quite a few possibles being worked on including K State, Tulsa, LSU, Rice among others. Would this get released at the upcoming media days or does it normally go through Sunbelt office? Also looking back wasn't it 2004 when we had 5 or 6 games televised? I'm not sure how reliable it is though because there are quite a few TBA listed on the network. Link to TV Schedule

Sell Bricks In Walkways Around New Stadium, At
ScreamingEaglesFan replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
I almost think this would be a given, based on how any new stadiums are using this as a fundraising tool. Below are some examples: Univ of Georga 3 price points $150, $250, $500. This is a example brochure Dallas Cowboys new stadium 3 price points $150, $300, $375 Florida International 1 price point $125 per brick Univ of Alabama too many options. Ranging from $100 to $5000 per brick And those were strictly football the Chicago Cubs and Mets also have a similar program, plus most have an option to buy a duplicate brick not only doubling funds but giving a neat keepsake as well . -
Stadium Naming Rights Thoughts

I wouldn't waive royalties, DFW Airport just got their credit rating raised based strictly on drilling / number of rigs / future earnings. Based on some articles I found UNT already have wells operating and as of this article was bringing in close to 10k per month and that was back in 2003 see article ragarding economic impact drilling in area Is it safe to assume the revenue would go into a general revenue account and be undesignated? -

As much money as Chesapeake Energy is throwing around in the metroplex that might be a good fit, and they wouldn't even miss 25 mil. Also Interstate batteries has already been worked for quite some time and didn't fit into his donation criteria (mostly donates to church related projects) -
Congrats, I still remember mom and our little ones first game at Fouts against TCU in a baby carrier!!

This came off the Sunbelt conference board after this mornings announcement. sunbelt announcement NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced Tuesday that it has singed agreements with the St. Petersburg Bowl, the Papajohns.com Bowl and the PetroSun Independence Bowl. The announcement came at the Sun Belt’s annual Football Media Days. The agreements, which are effective immediately and will impact the 2008 and 2009 bowl games, call for bowl-eligible teams from the Sun Belt Conference to be the first available teams in these bowls should the contracted parties not be able to fulfill their requirements. “This is an excellent opportunity for our football league for many reasons,” said Sun Belt Commissioner Wright Waters. “It will give our teams a chance to play in regional bowl games, show that we can compete with quality opponents and prove that this league can attract crowds to games and influence TV ratings.” While the Sun Belt Conferece champion will still play in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, the St. Petersburg Bowl or the Papajohns.com Bowl will have second choice to select one of the Sun Belt’s bowl-eligible teams if the contracted parties are not be able to fulfill their requirements. The St. Petersburg Bowl will play its inaugural game Dec. 20 at Tropicana Field and is scheduled to pit teams from the Big East and Conference USA. The 2008 Papajohns.com Bowl is scheduled to feature teams from the Big East and Southeastern Conference and will be played Dec. 29 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala. Both games are owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television, Inc., a subsidiary of ESPN. “This agreement protects the future success of our events, to which ESPN Regional Television is very committed,” said Pete Derzis, Senior Vice President & General Manager, ERT. “We are taking this step to be able to present college football fans with two quality teams for our postseason bowl games.” The agreement signed with the PetroSun Independence Bowl calls for that bowl game to receive the third choice to select one of the Sun Belt’s bowl eligible teams if the contracted parties are not able to fulfill their requirements. The Independence Bowl would also receive the second choice to select a Sun Belt bowl eligible team should the St. Petersburg Bowl or the Papajohns.com Bowl not have an opening. The game is scheduled to have a team from the Southeastern Conference and Big XII and will be played Dec. 28 at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, La. "We feel good about partnering with the Sun Belt Conference as a contingency partner for the 2008 and 2009 games,” said PetroSun Independence Bowl Chairman Keith Bergeron. “Our primary agreements with both the Big 12 and SEC run through the 2009 game and year-in and year-out provide us with a great matchup. Now with 34 bowl games and nearly all conferences going anywhere from four to nine deep with bowl partners we felt it was necessary and good business to lock in a contingency plan in the unlikely event that we don't host a team from either the Big 12 or SEC. The Sun Belt and its member institutions offer a natural regional tie with Shreveport being within driving distance for fans of any Sun Belt school." The agreements with the St. Petersburg Bowl, the Papajohns.com Bowl, and the PetroSun Independence Bowl are for two years, beginning with the 2008 bowl games. Should there be any ties in the Sun Belt standings, those three bowl games have the right to select the team of their choice. This may be a dumb question but I looked and the only group with athletics had 43 members is that the one? Other than that i couldn't find a group on facebook for athletics. -
We'll be there as well to see my nephew play (for Rice) He's 6'5 now and expected to see playing time at DE. The real pisser was he really wanted to be part of UNT but the previous regime didn't think he was worthy. Link to bio Talk about disappointing, he has grown/bulked up since starting college and continues to get better!

I'm getting my MBA from UT Dallas (since UNT doesn't have an eMBA program) but got this announcement today, if your curious what Bill's up to see memo below: Bill Mercer Author appearance at UTD Legendary broadcaster Bill Mercer will appear at UTD to discuss his new memoir of a remarkable 50-year sportscasting career from 4-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 in McDermott Library Auditorium (MC 2.410) He previously appeared in the McDermott Library-UTD Mercury Writers Series in 2005 to discuss a book about his role along with three of his colleagues in covering the John F. Kennedy Assassination in 1963. Mercer currently serves as the PA announcer at UTD Comet basketball games. His new book, "Play by Play," gives an insider's view particularly of sports and the ins and outs of calling play-by-play and interviewing celebrity athletes. His career includes play-by-play duties for the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago White Sox and the North Texas Mean Green. Interestingly, he made an enormous impact as a television announcer for the pro wrestling circuit. The UTD Bookstore will have Bill's books available for purchase. Free and open to the public.
