So I got some unexpected time free that weekend and was thinking about a road trip. Does anyone know what time the game starts, It shows it to be about 600 miles from Southlake and since that is one of the premier stadiums im thinking the atmosphere/tailgating would make it worth it. Ive got the transportation covered and figure if I can make to Ball State this should be nothing. I know its late but thought id throw it out there. Shoot me a message, im flexible on when we leave and come back.

We definitely have hotter coeds, there are no guys on the Mean Green dancing squad, and all of our traffic signs are in english.

Just got through watching the UALR vs MTSU game and afterwards on the schedule (Link to snaffu) it showed WKY vs UALR in the Conf. Championship, guess somebody didn't believe in the Mean Green, shows them!

I along with many of you am getting tired head at the coaching speculation, and while I agree this is arguably the biggest hire in my memory i'm ready to get it done. Do you think they will have a "meet the coach" on the same day as the press conference as they did with the Dodge hire. 2. How often if the candidate is currently an assistant coach elsewhere do they start at a new coaching job immediately following the season versus staying with their current team until any boal games are played. Lastly do you think with the Neinas involvement will there be difference now compared to after the Dodge hire regarding paper trail of who was contacted/interviewed? I didn't read the contract but know from personal experience when making a recommendation for a hire its not normally a documented process its more a review of candidates resumes' and would that info be available through a FOIA request? I am very comfortable with the people involved doing the full due dilligence that to the best of their ability are going to get us the best candidate, it's just like when we were kids the day before Christmas waiting to open presents with zero hints from your parents.

Not excusing the charges but they did occur 16 years ago and from the article: There is a domestic abuse issue in his past with his ex-wife. I'm not sure how big of a deal his incident was or wasn't. I don't want to downplay domestic abuse in any way. But that was in 1994, Iowa State allowed him to stay on board and I'm not sure this incident over 16 years ago should preclude him from coaching at Minnesota.

Rick Herold (ParksandRecRick) wanted me to post this for him. He will be leaving for Hot Springs tomorrow (3/9) from Grand Prairie @ 10 AM and returning at 6:30 wed morning. He's got room for some fellow Mean Green Hoops fans and said give him a call @ 214.724.5670 anytime if you're interested. He wanted me to pass along there are hotel rooms at the Austin available for $85, and if you wanted to stay somewhere else he said he'd be happy to drop you off. It's a great opportunity to ride with one of the Mean Green's most spirited fan! Wish I could go, and wish all those traveling or at the game safe travels home!

So today at church I was talking to someone "in the know" with Southlake football and he threw out an interesting scenerio. This was Southlake's year as far as their football squad goes. They are graduating a ton of seniors & are really dreading & expecting a down year next year. He said many of the money people have been less than impressed with Wasson, and still love their hometown hero, Dodge. So the scenerio is they give Wasson next year and if he doesn't produce he's out and Dodge's back with them helping with his buyout expense. Just a thought, but my guy def knows what's going on in Southlake so I figure he has a pretty good insight on that part of it. On a unrelated note has anyone heard if there's gonna be a coaches show tomorrow?

COBA Newsletter Also not football related but I just got my unt alumni e-mail account and noticed they put notices for most upcoming athletic event sent directly there, without having to sign up for them.

Sykes Dismissed From The Team By Steven Bartolotta, August 12, 2009, 11:48 p.m. North Texas head coach Todd Dodge has dismissed junior linebacker Marquis Sykes from the team. Sykes, who signed with the Mean Green in 2006, redshirted his first season and earned two letters in 2007 and 2008. He played in three games in 2007 and eight games in 2008.

It's about 250 miles so i'd say about 4 hours.
