  1. has been arrested. Not meaning to enjoy in other's misery. Just posting for informational purposes... I wonder if this will make any difference in the starting lineup for the season opener.... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/foot...t.ap/index.html
  2. ... commit 5 dollars from every member of this board to the mean green club every time someone makes reference to a new stadium.... starting ....right.....now... you know, like the cussing jar.
  3. I know this isn't on topic for the thread, but My wife is a football fan and has been watching all her life. I'm trying to convince her to go to this football 101 event. What is this thing like? Do they stay pretty basic, or do they get into some different semi-technical topics?
  4. I'm at work, and everyone else is on vacation... good times here on the Kansas State board making predictions about UNT coming to town... I'm actually surprised they weren't a bit more cocky given our record and their highly touted, Juco infested recruiting class... http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=173&f=2670&t=2632646 2nd year into this offense, shouldn't UNT be able to put up atleast 21 on them?
  5. Notch one... he's fast, and in general, you are leader type if you were a quarterback. You can find roles for athletes with some leadership experience... Never a bad thing to have those types of athletes on the team. The more the merrier. Twood be nice to get some more size.... but it is June 08. Everything is cool. It is also nice to see a Denton native stay in the area. Go mean green.
  6. Does anyone know what their bootcamp workouts consist of? I just want to laugh at the comparison between that and my pathetic lunchtime 45 minute workout...
  7. This guy was pretty highly touted in 2005. With the right situation, this kid could be a star... I can't wait to see this guy wearing a North Texas uniform. Combine this talent with Deloach calling the shots on D again. The next couple of years is going to be fun. http://auburn.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=881
  8. I'm pretty new to the board... What is this exactly? Who is eligible to participate?
  9. Lots of coaches do some douchy things to get bigger contracts and not follow through on commitments(can't say that I wouldn't do some of those things for some extra bucks)...but Bobby Petrino takes the douchiest of the douchy for 2007 for me... Congrats Bobby. I hope you don't get any recruits and every game you have at Arkansas is just like the cotten bowl.
  10. 5 wins I believe we are 1 year into the 4 year Dodgeball plan. 5 wins is very optimistic for '08...and hopefully not the high water mark, but it will give us to be a bit more proud of... That offense, at times, was something to get really excited about. The other parts of the game will need to contribute a little bit more for this to happen. There is no doubt. AND PLEASE!!!! All the fire Mendoza talk and Dodge will need to make a decision...blah blah blah... Come on... Yes, it was a bad bad bad season on defense... But, come on. The ENTIRE coaching staff deserves some time to get their feet wet. Seriously, enough already. Realize that this a longer term plan. EVERYONE IS LEARNING HERE. Including our fanbase. Lets be a good supportive fanbase... It doesn't mean we can't be critical...but fanbases like the yankme's and ny giants fans have where they chant for firing coaches is disgusting... lets not be them... This board doesn't always have to be positive, but ...you get the picture. GO MEAN GREEN!
  11. This is where it begins... speedy athletes in the secondary... we can beef up some guys in the front. We can always use more bodies there, but with this conference's spread offenses, we need athletes in the secondary or linebackers(if they can beef up some) that can run with slot receivers and running backs... very exciting... "you can't coach speed"...this is what you always hear coaches say.
  12. I enjoyed every second of that Trinity vs Plano game last weekend... Definetly good luck. Our high school football here in Texas is second to none... So great!
  13. Did anyone ever see the final attendance numbers for Saturday night? The student section didn't appear to be packed in, but the alumni side looked pretty well filled out... I apologize if this has already been discussed...
  14. Yes, the defense hasn't performed quite yet... But 2 games? Come on... 2 games... We live in the age of the knee-jerk. Please lets give the Dodge era some time... Mendoza will learn as he goes this season...probably the next couple of seasons... patients... Lets all just enjoy this season without expectation... They are learning at a completely new level. Calling for Mendoza's job is rediculous... Come on people...
  15. Wasn't Andrew Smith the deliver-er of a bowl victory over cincy? I vote him...or if it wasn't him, that QB... BTW, cincy could have beaten Ohio State if they could have just tackled craig krenzel at the 5 yard line on a 4th down play early in the season... they won the nat championship that year in 3 OT's against miami...
  16. On the flip side, the bye week can't possible hold DM and Fitz scoreless either... I say DM throws for atleast 250 and 1 td in the off week...
  17. Recruiting is a numbers game... I personally don't care who is playing quarterback each year....as long as they win the job and continue to do their jobs on the field... competition in a program is a sign of strength and helps in depth if someone goes down durning the year... If we have 3 really strong possibilities for QB next year, that means we have the best player chuckin it for UNT next year resulting from competition... Not everyone is going to get to play, regardless of how highly touted someone is coming in... The cream rises to the top, and the quality of player we have steadily gets better as we get more and more good recruits coming in... THE DODGE will make the correct start nod every year. I just hope he sticks by his decisions to give his starters confidence out there on the field as he appears to have done with DM... I would be scared though if we end up with the rotating quarterback thing... that is the only thing that worries me with good alternatives especially with this shotgun and chuckit offense...
  18. Wow, he hasn't won a game as our Coach, and he hasn't even coached a game in Denton yet... and he's already leaving...Dear Lord. Here's to hoping the brighter lights are those attached to a new stadium in Denton...
  19. I promise I never intended to suggest we be aTm. If I made reference to aggie stuff, I really truley didn't mean to... I have some family that went there... their traditions, while kind of neat, aren't really my bag... especially the ones involving the core... discussion for another time ... As the interest and excitement increases, unforturnately the standing is going to increase... I can remember several Texas high school football games where we were standing throughout....started by the parents that were sitting in the front row. It just happens. When I saw Plano and SLC in the playoffs in 2005, the 2nd half was spent standing almost exclusively... I've been to a few games at Ohio State and standing was very very common there too... I think that it just happens when excitement is high... shootouts help too...
  20. At a home game, the people around you are bit more familiar. The elderly fans would more likely to not be stood up in front of... I personally enjoyed standing the whole game. It is the sign of a good game... Ups and Downs... It was a fun one... Combo of a road game and low pitch made things a bit harder to see... I personally feel a ton of excitement everytime we have the ball now... I almost can't help it right now... Maybe we all just will get used to it? I'm just soo excited that the normal offensive play isn't a draw being stopped for a loss...
  21. Man we are sensative... It sux, but we took an ars-beating...we can't change that now... they could have run the score up even more if they wanted to...it is true... It would make UNT look better if Miami is beaten soundly tomorrow. It is a really good thing we've got another game tomorrow.... Lets be less whiney...
  22. I think you take your ars-beating, compliment the opponent by showing good sportsmanship, and move on... OU does have marvelous athletes. I don't think that is up for debate. What else is he going to say? We are nit-picking because we are embarrassed... We shall see how nit-picky we get with THE DODGE on his quotes after the smooing this weekend.
  23. Anyone else surprised by this? Hard to assess what is shaping up to be the pillow fight of the year based on last week alone, but jeeze? smoo is favored by 16 to 17.5 points? Where would you set the line? http://covers.usatoday.com/data/odds.aspx#ncf I might be inclined to set the line at smo favored by 3 or 4 because it is a home game for them... 16 to 17.5? shocking to me anyway...
  24. This is without a doubt the best analogy I've ever seen on this board....
  25. Doesn't work... stupid belo web developers...
