Apogee Stadium vs. Ford Stadium vs. Robertson Stadium
SHOSS replied to GreenGuy123's topic in Mean Green Football
Interesting. I didn't venture north of 35, nor did I get a sense for the walk required... I have heard it was about 10 minutes. But nobody every mentioned difficulty due to hills or bad sidewalks... As long as it is not 107, a walk doesn't really bother me...but then again, if it is 107, I'm not sure there is any relief at all except for air conditioning and my couch... I'm hopeful that the bridge project(3.5 Million already approved) and some additional road improvements will make this a more pleasant walking experience from over 35. Time will tell here. I always try to walk around the tailgating area to soak in the atmosphere when I am a visiting fan. How was your overall experience doing this? -
crowd chant for all kickoffs and punts.... brelan chancellor, clap, clap, clap clap clap or lets go brelan, clap, clap, clap clap clap or brelan, brelan, brelan, brelan, brelan... This young man is one of the most exciting players we've got. I've always liked the excitement a big-time returner in a game. I think we've got one. hell, the opening kickoff in the stadium should tell us this. the fiu fans were chanting teeee----whyyyy, teeee-----whyyyy.... I like it. Anybody? anybody at all? The return game can be huge in a game... there should be a buzz and an awareness of our fanbase to pump up our big return guy... This guy has been on the espn top 10(for good things) twice... When was the last time this happened for a unt guy? I honestly don't know that it has ever happend...

Will the winner be ranked in the top 25? I say no, but they should be. Anyone?

Apogee Stadium vs. Ford Stadium vs. Robertson Stadium
SHOSS replied to GreenGuy123's topic in Mean Green Football
Ford Stadium: The biggest plus they have with Ford is its classic horse shoe look. I do prefer this look over Apogee even though the winged end zone looks great in person... Now, this stadium's amenities pale in comparison to Apogee. Parking was a pain(when I was there for the UNT game). And, he atmosphere wasn't very rowdy... then again, they were terrible, and we were terrible. I'm sure this had something to do with that. When I was there, I remember thinking that their stadium was excellent, and at the time, I would have taken it in a heartbeat. Apogee Stadium: I've been a couple of times to look around prior to the opener, and it still dazzled me on the first day. Lets start with the look. It is obviously a bit more unconventional, but this does give us a uniqueness that is pretty cool. The winged endzone really does look cool in person inside the stadium(I hope to see this filled soon...that will look even better). The amenities are FAR superior to Ford(concourse on the alumni side, tons of concessions, gear shops, almost too many bathrooms)... Just nice. Plus the stadium is surrounded by parking and tailgating areas. The layout is better than I have ever seen around a college stadium. All the areas available to park and tailgate were far superior to stadiums that are in the middle of dense buildings etc... We have so much room for more tailgating and more attendance... and we were almost full in the opener(almost is disappointing, but when you consider the product right now, attendance should go up, right?) The traffic flow in and out could use some work. I bet that this will be addressed in the next year or so with the bridge and maybe some road expansion projects... We could easily accommodate more people right now though...you know, give that we had the demand and increased the seating capacity in the stadjum. Robertson Stadium: abstain, never been there. When I watched the UCLA at UH game on TV, the atmosphere looked pretty enthusiastic and appeared to be loud. I hope we have our stadium busting at the seems like it appeared they did...but then again, if we had one of the, if not the best mid-major football team with a top 5 QB in the country, I would expect we would also be busting at the seams and rowdy when hosting a beatable UCLA team. Hopefully we can achieve this in the next couple of years... -
No question, I'll be firing up espn3 as I focus most of my attention on DirecTv channel 646... atleast for as long as I can bear it...

This truly is the worst welcome thread I have ever seen. I went and read some of the bama thread reaction... wow. what the hell was this guys? jeeze
-
if we were in their conference, we'd play almost every year, right? I bet nobody has thought of that one! man, I'm sooooooo funny. So, does Houston object to us joining CUSA as much as smooo?
-
You know, I would love to see uh and fiu too... Oh well. Something to watch since we are playing bama this week...and we will be sick to our stomachs after a quarter.
-
Sample size is a bit small thus far. 1st half of the houston game has been the only real evidence of this to me. I think this may just be some respect AND generic talk for dan from saban. He has to talk about something for this game.
-
yes it is the money. I can't imagine that these games are any fun for you guys either really. This is like a bi-week that hurts your strength of schedule... anyways, the only good showing we have had(to my recollection) for one of these games in the last 15 years or so is when we held UT to a scoreless 2nd half...so we lost like 31 to 0. Our program has been bottoming out for the last 3 years or so, and an appy state recurrence in this situation would be the biggest upset in the history of college football... michigan wasn't very good(by their standards) and appy state was a very solid team at that point in time. lots of transfers from div 1 schools that helped boost their talent level. I appreciate the encouragement, but it is even more unrealistic than normal this year. no injuries.
-
Oh they'll roll alright. You guys expecting a national championship this year? who do you think is your biggest threat in the SEC this year? Good luck isn't necessary...lets just say, no injuries instead.
-
I like competition amongst all the positions... QB, on a good team anyway, should be more of an unchanging thing from game to game to me...but right now, everything is still up in the air. I like more kids having the opportunity to play. I think that also helps us with recruiting when they see that playing time goes to the guys that work their arses off and earn it. When you've got multiple good options because 2 or 3 guys are stepping up their games, we can't really lose at this point. And, the more athetic our QB is, the better... as long as he has an arm to get the ball downfield too...
-
Will we ever be able to compete/win a game against an opponent like this? You know against the number 2 team in the country from the SEC with the nation's best defense? These weeks are like watching a train wreck to me... I watch cause I can't help myself, but I know the results are going to be horrible at best...Just no injuries... Anyways, Go Mean Green, and F the bottom 10.

So, is UCF considered to be the best that CUSA has to offer this year? UCF has beaten Boston College like a drum that also lost to Northwestern... to me results inconclusive as far as how good of a win the BC win is... UCF's other win is Charlston Southern... Of course, FIU has beaten us like a drum and had Louisville down by 2 td's for most of the game before a late comeback to make it closer... So, will this game say anything about the strength at the top of both conferences? Admittedly, I don't know much about the turnover on UCF's roster after winning the conference championship over smooo last year... This will be the most interesting thing to watch this weekend for me(even though it is espn3 and stuff) since we are going to Alabama to collect a paycheck and hopefully not come away with any injuries...
-
Thank you...yes.. Well, good...no espn3 for me this week

UNT Commit #8: LB Royce LeFrance, Helen Cox
SHOSS replied to NT03's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Ok Royce. Here's the deal. If you come to UNT, we promise to be louder on defense so that you can get more sacks and tackles for loss and more pick 6's and your draft stock will rise... Cool? Thanks, glad we had this talk. BTW, did you notice we had a new stadium and a solid coaching staff? Sincerely, Guy who wants you to keep your commitment to U of NT. -
In a.game like this, sabin will empty the bench... You guys will likely just start the fullback fall into the pile in every series... With the backups, practice squad and waterboy playing d in the 4th, anything can happen.
-
UNT - 12 Bammer - 56 no injuries... we collect some money and get the he77 out of there as quickly as possible.

My wife pointed him out in the starting lineup while I was chasing my son around the living room... She was surprised saying, "wait, I thought the guy from UNT in the NFL was a runningback."... I flexed my muscles and said, "Nah, we have THREE guys in the NFL... sort of, cause Cobbs was on the IR with the Aints and Adrian is somewhere in the depth chart for the Vi-queens" My wife and I have some lovely conversations... I could tell she was TOTALLY impressed with us having 2.5 guys in the NFL right now. Go Mean Green... Brian played well, btw. I'm officially going to declare that the Pats have the BEST OFFENSIVE LINE IN THE NFL! Just because of Mr Waters.
-
I am officially calling for a brelan chancellot chant for kickoff and punt returns...
-
Ok, I am on the alumni side, as I am an old now... I was a little intoxocated when I made this entry during the game(while we were on offense btw). I wanted to say, first off, that this was 1,000,000 times better than I ever heard fouts. It was a great experience. HOWEVER, if we want a true home field advantage, it really is simple. When the visiting team is on offensive, we yell, whistle, and make noise in general. When our offense is on on the field, we should react to positive plays, but otherwise, a low level of noise is ok. Kickoffs, make noise. When we are receiving, a brelan chancellor chant would probably be appropriate...(my buddies all but laughed at me when I suggested this) I just hope we have fans show up more than once to figure this out. I found myself trying to make up for most around me not yelling... I was doing the cheerleading thing too.... I got the feeling I was annoying people... 5 people yelling at lower levels is louder than 1 guy overyelling. Go mean green
-
Too quiet I feel like I am yelling by myself
