UNT lands Lake Highlands Lineman Chase Walling
SHOSS replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Good Get! This is the type that I am expecting Coach Mac to pick up. The lines are the most important squads on the field for any team. yes, I know...QB is of utmost importance too... can anything help a qb settle in more than a good running game though? Or even time to throw some deep balls to loosen the defense up? Welcome aboard Chase! -
Utah State football: Aggies could soon be Mountain West-bound
SHOSS replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
So, why has there been no public mention of cusa actual discussions? -
You said gal... errr, typed gal.

its from the "irf"

My off the deep end moment already happened when Houston and SMU moved up to AQ status. If we are in the new CUSA or the Sun Belt, our goal as a program HAS to be to DOMINATE. That is it. That is the only way we get our Alumni and Students to notice and attend our freakin games. To me, DOMINATING is the only way we get notice in this area. It will be interesting to see if our attendance in Basketball jumps at all...if this team can reach its true potential. BTW, I think I'm bringing out the family this Friday Night.

For TV, we make the scheduling sacrifice. I was looking forward to a day game.
-
I considered this as well...but, would conference realignment talk be a compliance issue? I don't have any idea as I am but a simple caveman who likes UNT football and basketball... soon to be baseball?
-
other tidbits that have come to mind is that we have like 27 graduating seniors? We are looking to sign 23 players in the upcoming signing class. I wonder if that is due to having the 2 transfers of trice and feldt. Maybe someone that wasn't going through dinner cleanup and kid bed prep whilest listening to the show could maybe fill in some of the info I missed/got wrong...
-
So, I heard some of it. I was streaming it over my phone, and the stream was weak(hahaha). Anyways, he was slightly late, and he said that it was a good time for UNT. That was why he was late. He can't talk about it due to compliance issues, but it was a good day. Sounded like he was implying he just got a solid commit or something... wonder if Vito needs to get after it. I'm hoping that he just got a 5* qb and 3 5* DT's to commit. That would be a great early Christmas present. He did say that he plans on bringing recruits out to see the basketball team this year during the off-season. Anyways, he addressed the question of us ever engaging transfers...and of course, Dan said that unless they come straight to him, he doesn't talk with them during a season. Or something to that effect. Obviously we've had a few transfers that we are pretty excited about in Feldt and Trice. The wku game is at 6:00 now. It will be on TV. I didn't get much else that wasn't coach speak. Talk of Troy being a great win if they can pull it off. He went through that he has coached against Blakely and has tons of respect for him and what he has accomplished.

Father's service to country inspires Boutwell

We need guys just like this... the size can come with time and hard work in the off season. This is an inspiring story. -
There you go Sir Calvin. Can't wait to see you in Green!

*yoda voice* Good pony list you are a member of. *end yoda voice* Does this remind anyone of the wizard of oz? Are you a good witch or a bad witch? Not sure if that will make you very popular with your fellow alumni...

Is the Re-aligned Big East the new Seneca Wallace?
SHOSS replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in Mean Green Football
So, if we recruited a quarterback named Wallace, first name William, would we automatically be a bowl team? Is this the secret to kicking some football ars? -
I've fallen prey to reading their message board...more so recently. Recently, the fascination(for me) has been to read the thoughts of those that are moving up. Find out what that's like. The fact that they keep kicking us while we are down speaks volumes. Yes, we've got goldenpony and comet that come over here and atleast don't stomp on our heads over there... they seem decent enough. Even offering up words of encouragement. To them I say thank you. That is classy, and I'm sorry for not accepting your words at face value... I personally am going to make it a point to never visit over there again. I've never posted over there, and I would suggest that everybody on this board NEVER POST THERE AGAIN. Just leave them be. When we play them in a couple of years, who knows what the situation will be. We may be better... we may be the same. who knows... they could be down with bad win/loss records over the next season or so, or...they could be killing it. The bottom line is, if you go over there read and/or post, you are asking for their venom. DON'T DO IT. We should NOT care what they think. This is our domain here. This is our safe haven. Lets stay here and enjoy the positives we have now. Like it or not, we have to be patient(yet again) in an impatient/knee jerk/'fix it yesterday' world. In the mean time, we just need to keep our heads low and work on building a fun atmosphere around our athletic programs as alums. We know we love our university. We want SOOOOO much to see good things out of it. Leave the SMU people to themselves. The other universities that have moved up have handled it better than them... I'm sure other fanbases have handled it worse... whatever. Now lets focus and kick the ever living sh!t out of the bye week. I know I will personally commit to having a touchdown beer every 15 minutes starting at 6:00 pm this Saturday...and won't finish until about 9:45'ish that evening. By my beer count, we will be winning 63 - 0 before I start taking a knee on the td beers. WHO'S WITH ME?????

Lets hope we have already hit rock bottom.

I'd say Vito has been pretty much right about things thus far this season. I don't like some of the things he writes, but again, these things are pretty much hitting the nail on the head. It sux, but the truth is a killer these days... the folks that do remain faithful are questioning their faith, and the t-shirt alumns with UNT degrees are moving further and further away from being a part of the solution... dark days, Vito is taking some of the heat because everyone wants to kill the messenger...
-
I'm not a believer that SMU alumns as a group share your perspective on things. I've seen too many notes and heard too many things to the contrary to really accept this as being the pulse of SMU alumns. If you read ponyfans.com for more than 5 minutes, you know where we stand in the eyes of the SMU faithful. This wreaks of, "we got what we finally wanted, and now lets play nice with the less fortunate since we now have widened the gap." I'm sorry if I don't take your words at face value.

you're welcome...and the beginning is near makes me laugh every time I see it.

If a coaching staff lets the angry mob determine playing time decisions, they shouldn't be coaching. How many of us are running their practices, calling their plays, and have 30 years of college football coaching experience? Didn't we all prepare ourselves for a 4 or 5 win season? I personally predicted 5 wins. Predictions are worth nothing, I know...other than maybe setting our expectations coming in. We are all very disappointed with some of the games this year, guys(especially DT's) leaving the team, and this latest round of realignment not involving us... We are ALL pissed. I get it. This fanbase thinking they can make better decisions than this experienced coaching staff is absolutely laughable. I seriously don't know why I keep letting these stupid threads draw me offsides... but here I am again. I can't express to you how silly these threads look. I guess this is just explained as we don't have much good news lately with all that is going on with us and around us. Here's to Meaner, Greener Pastures in the near future. Maybe this is just the way you guys deal with disappointment. I don't know. Seems pretty silly to me...
-
dear lord... this is insightful. everybody is a fan of the back-up to the back-up qb. Our newly hired coaching staff doesn't know what they are doing. we should fire assistant coaches after being together for 9 games. yes, they had their arses handed to them. everyone is mad. another sign of a bad team is ... get this, inconsistency... when adversity hits, you don't adapt well... if coach mac wants mcnulty to get reps when thompson is out. then that is it. this isnn't bogus reality tv, we DON'T vote to see who gets kicked in the nuts or kicked off for eating too many snacky cakes... oh my god, I think I'm going to vommit on myself...
-
This is a VERY exciting stat. Defensive Front 7 is, to me, the most important part of a team. Just think a couple of years down the line when Mac's guys get in place.... imagine the possibilities... If we have this, the rest of the defense becomes much easier to scheme with. When you can get 3 and outs, the offense finds its rhythm much much much easier just by getting to be back on the field quickly instead of sitting around and waiting...

Got room for yet another OU quitter?

So I tried to pick up my student ticket yesterday
SHOSS replied to oldguystudent's topic in Mean Green Football
Can you guys try and occupy Apogee about 4:00 pm this Saturday? That would work out for everybody... Your protest chants should be "North.....Texas".... There are some others like yelling when u-la-mon has the ball and it is 3rd or 4th down... stuff like that will really show the athletic department what's what. -
they limited attendance into the game against fau by mistake and won't be doing it again for homecoming...you know for a special occasion... or free lap dances for everyone that enters the stadjum this week... they really want to fill the stadjum this week
