Sounds like an optimistic and tough dude. So glad he is going to come out OK. We are lucky to have this guy running our program.

If Vito can be optimistic enough to give us this kind of write-up, then it doubly confirms that I think our resume gets us in. The sleeping giant is starting to open its eyes... Maybe even start to stir just a bit.

McCarney, still hospitalized, confirms stroke but sounds cheery

I don't know how anybody can say a negative about what DMAC has done since the day he set foot on campus. Get well DMAC. -
Example of Daily Workout Report for Winter Workouts
SHOSS replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
So, after the signing day event, a former player and myself walked over to the weight room with Coach Wintrich. He was such a nice guy. He walked my buddy through the daily program and how people get positive or negative ratings for each day. We also got an up close and personal look at that little statue. He told us about the strongest guy on the team(apparently a walk on DT that is probably too short, but benches over 400 and squats well over 600). He suggested this kid might being a good fullback. We'll see about playing time though. Coach Wintrich seems very impressive. He has a great system, and those videos are great publicity/insight into what it takes to be a D1 football player. I had always assumed they had epic workouts, but man is it cool to see these young men tearing it up every day in the offseason. What a great marketing tool, in my opinion. I highly recommend talking with Coach Wintrich. Not only is he a nice guy, but I just try to imagine that guy motivating you day in and day out. I'd bet he could squeeze water from a rock. Isn't that our longsnapper?

I was going to post the same thing... The biggest attractions to cUSA were being on TV and SMU, Houston, and Tulsa... SMU and Houston are gone. Now Memphis is gone too, a former rival and the best basketball program. Then what's left? Football you have Tulsa and Southern Miss. Both are extremely solid programs. But after that, what is there? Do these 2 programs outweigh Arky State, the Cajuns, FIU, and Western KY? These 4 programs have built up to be pretty solid. I guess we'll see what happens with the TV contracts. I suppose this is by far the most important factor yet to be decided with the merger and all. Go Mean Green!

After Scotty Young gets here...

The great thing here is we may actually get to see if this comes true. -
After Scotty Young gets here...

That thought occurred to me as well. However, because he is 2 years removed from high school, he probably doesn't have many friends that he could talk to about coming to unt. Maybe this opens some eyes. I would LOVE to have access to even a small portion of the talent that is obviously present in Denton. UNT would benefit doubly...both in talent and in support from the actual people of Denton. If this were true, it would definitely make me gladhappy. I might even go as far as to say it would make me hoppy-cited. Go Mean Green! -
Lets not pretend this is limited to just the message board culture. Anyways, good luck to you. Maybe we can all share a beer and a cocktail prior to the games when they pick up in 2014.

I've been on campus at SMU quite a bit as I dated an SMU girl while I was at UNT. The campus is nice. One of the nicest in the country? I don't know. There are a ton of campuses out there. If you truley are interested in why some of us(including myself) harbor such hatred, just read ponyfans.com. You could even search UNT or NTSU or NTSTC in either the football or recruiting forums... It will only take you about 5 minutes to see why UNT'ers hate SMU. If you wanted to read into the history behind some of the public commentary from the SMU brass back when NTSU was making a push for joining the SWC, it is out there. I'm sure one of our members could provide you a link to a newspaper article or some such... The rumors about us not getting into CUSA, well, I have no idea if there is any truth to it. It is a running joke on ponyfans.com though. Again, just read that site for a few minutes. All your answers are there.

Mr waters definetly came through... Except for one holding call.

Welp, we have a mean greener that(along with the rest of the o-line for the Pats) holds the key to winning or losing the Super Bowl. The key to this game is the Giants d-line vs the patriots o-line. The giants d-line is what has taken them where they are this season(that and dropped interceptions by giants opponents and poor number 10 for the 49ers). Mr Waters and company have a big task to accomplish...protect maybe the best clutch qb we have seen since...well I'm not sure. Anyways, I just wanted to bring Mr. Waters up again today. One of our own may be lifting the Lombardi trophy tonight. Maybe he'll bring his ring back to Apogee to let us all gawk at... Hey Brian, how about retiring after you win tonight and coming back as a special recruiting specialist(bring mean joe with you). BTW, how many mean greeners have superbowl rings? Mean Joe, Adrian Awasome, and hopefully Brian Water too(you know to go along with his Walter Payton Man of the Year award). Go Mr Waters, and Go Mean Green! See you at the spring game!

Wow, we are ranked 4th in this list... hmmmmmm....
-
So, what did he mean by that? Does that mean we have 12 seniors that won't contribute much but are on scholarship? or does that mean we have 12 fewer scholarships than we should have available? What hole are we digging ourselves out of? Non-contributors on scholly and on the roster, or is this just the apr thing still lingering?

I think this is a fair assessment. Now, the question is, "Will this coaching staff get more than expected with this young men?" Yes, if they were rated better, I would be crowing right now. As of now, I am just happy we have this coaching staff. I am pleased that everywhere but DT and DB we have to luxury of redshirting most of these kids...I think. As DMAC said last night, as the program matures, it will be harder and harder for freshman to crack into playing time, much less the starting lineup. We'll likely see some early contributors out of this group, but it is nice to think that we aren't going to have to rely on this group for the majority of the playing time...unless they earn it. Another recruiting season in the books. On to 2013 recruiting... See you all at some basketball games and the spring game. DMAC says the spring game is Sat, April 28th at 2:00. Can't Wait! Go Mean Green!

Nice event. I finally got to meet dmac and shake his hand. What an engaging man. He is friendly, charismatic, and brutally honest. It was an honor to talk with him and shake his hand. He promised great things are ahead for the mean green.

2012 UNT Football Signing Day LOI Fax Updates
SHOSS replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
andrew tucker did not...but per vito he is gray shirting -
I too apreciate you both joining the mean green family... Plus, who wants to play in front of a bunch of trust fund babies wearing pink polos... In the next 4 or 5 years, this fanbase is going to be woken up by mccarney and your son's on the field contributions. What cracks me up is smooo has been to 3 consecutive bowl games, and they still don't draw. Just wait and see how much the crowds grow over the next couple years after some overdue, real success. We are sitting on a sleeping giant here. It will be great seeing Connor be a part of it. In the mean time, he needs to workout, eat and workout and eat and workout and workout and workout.... Go mean green!
-
Welp, after the flurry of 3, I figured we were done.... I guess I am underestimating what we now have to sell or the coaching staff or both. This is gonna be fun at Apogee palace tonight to see the final tally. Hopefully the last push is to add rather than replace more falloff. Go mean green.

I will be there with a friend. I have always wanted to go to this event, but I haven't been able to make it. "This year is different."<-- I'd like to submit this for the theme of the coming season... Go Mean Green!
-
Then that is easy math... 26 verbals minus 3 gray shirts equals 23 slots filled. I am a bit perplexed by McDorman and Hines gray shirting. HOWEVER, I trust in DMAC. I believe he is taking the long term approach for the good of the program. It will be interesting how things shake out with the redshirts from last season and the true freshmen in the mix for playing time. We shall see... There is no offseason... College football fandom is a year round spectator sport. As strange as it sounds, I may like this time of year(leading up to signing day) almost as much as the actual season. Go Mean Green and see you tomorrow evening.

So, either we lost more than rice, walling, and lafrance, or we are starting the oversigning practice, or DMAC was playing some poker with how many spots we had for this year, or we are planning on some gray shirts...
