  1. It wouldn't be the first time; Nostalgia: Ron Weaver/McKelvey, fake name, real Longhorn
  2. I'm reminded of the MST3000 "Hired - The Musical" sketch. Just substitute "Buick" for "Chevrolet"?:
  3. amazing how you can sing (and post) after you're dead
  4. I thought about that too, but unless there was some significant re-cutting of the metal decking, we'd have a horseshoe for a baseball stadium. I don't know if that would be desireable, and I don't know that the labor to re-cut the decking would be cost-effective. It probably would be better to sell the end-zone bleachers to someone who has a track around their football field. TSU-SM, maybe?
  5. National Do Not Call Registry
  6. Why the logo change? Did the AD, or the university branding department, give gmg.com some flack over using the Mean Green wordmark? What's with the thing extending from the "R"? Is it supposed to be a talon? It reminds me more of Mr. Krabs from Spongebob. But the windmills are hilarious!
  7. I hate to ruin your memory of the game, but the final score wasn't that close - it was 92-86, according to www.fanbase.com. From what I remember, we kept fairly close most of the game, but by the end they were pulling away and all we could do was keep fouling them. The DePaul game and the triple-overtime win over Texas - both in 1980-81 - were incredible. Great times - here's to Bill Blakely!
  8. why not join the chat?
  9. Maybe Todd Graham can find a job for Todd Ford as well as Todd Dodge.
  10. Rick Spears, aka Green Grenade II, who I consider to be called a legendary gomeangreen.com member. He's been waiting for a new stadium since the Fry era. I don't believe he cares for his stylized eagle being called the "Flying Worm", but I guess he puts up with it.
  11. The guy posting on the San Antonio site uses the name dmccarney - but you follow the links, you'll see that his first post is dated 07/21/10 - go figure. The Hawaii Star Advertiser story mentions that Lamar just restarted football in 2010 after 20 years, but doesn't mention that UTSA still hasn't played a game. Does UTSA really expect to play I-A football in 2012?
  12. Wow, the Dodge era is truly over. I'm a bit disappointed, but it's understandable. It's hard to tell if he was told he won't be allowed to compete for the starting QB job, or he just wants a fresh start regardless. I thank him for all he gave to NT - especially for his effort after his dad was let go - and wish him success (unless he goes to an FBS school we play) and good health. If I remember correctly, he graduated HS a semester early and started at NT in the spring in order to participate in spring practices. If that's the case, then he may be close to getting his degree, especially if he took any AP classes in HS and/or summer classes at NT. Maybe he is only transferring as far as football is concerned, but actually applying for grad school? Then again, maybe TD is interviewing for a HC job at FCS schools...
  13. He likely read the articles in the Houston Chronicle. My link
  14. I've never heard the McAdow arrangement of our fight song, so I can't either disagree or agree that the Winslow arrangement (which is what is currently played) is "dumbed down". Was the McAdow band ever recorded? I would love to hear it. The only comment I can make about the current arrangement is that by playing it two times through, it's too long to play after a touchdown - and none of the band directors (Winslow, Fisher, Williams) have come up with an acceptable solution. They've tried playing a fanfare after the touchdown and waiting until after the extra point to play the fight song - but what if the kick is missed? Do you still play it? They've tried playing it one time through, and waiting until after the extra point to play it the second time - once again, what if the kick is missed - or, what if there's a timeout or a delay due to a penalty? The silence after the U-N-T Eagles chant can be pretty awkward.
  15. Thanks! I haven't subscribed to the Chronicle for years - I would have missed it. I'll have to go out and buy a copy today. It is surprising that the story is today, not when we played Rice, TSU, or SHSU.

  22. In 1981, we did the Apollo command module "flying" down the field during our show at UT. Bob Winslow got whoever did the FB team game film to also film our show for us, and we got to see it the next week - it looked pretty cool. The Halloween show a couple of years ago, where the whole band did the dance from "Thriller", was fun.
  23. That is pretty cool! It looks like Squidward
  24. I may not be from Missouri, but you'll have to "show me" . BTW, Merry Christmas to Kathy Gorman from the AD.
