  1. Those of us in Houston can watch it! Comcast Sports (CSS) is carrying it - ch 129. I didn't realize it starts at 6pm - I would have missed half the game if I didn't search the web to see if it was available in Houston. I'll either be at the Sugar Land Ragin' Cajun restaurant - if they'll put the game on - or my friend's house (I have DISH, he has cable).
  2. How many minutes?
  3. That was a great Super Bowl commercial. talking about taking a thread off track!
  4. I'm surprised that the Chronic-Ill had a score at all - that's one of the reasons that I no longer subscribe (there's plenty of others). Even if we're playing UH or Rice, it's hard to find a story, so it's the last place I would think of looking.
  5. A prep school named for the Don of chocolate syrup? It must have high academic standards!
  6. Got it now.
  7. Anyone else having problems getting the kntu.com stream?
  8. It's a cookbook!
  9. It's the MUTS so... "Adopt a Dog" night, sponsored by KNTU Adopt a dog Adopt a big dog Unless you live In an apartment... I don't think I've heard that PSA this year, but unfortunately it's ingrained in my brain and associated with Mean Green basketball.
  10. I read it as "Fat Tire", and thought this was another beer thread.
  11. Absolutely. I only made it to the pavilion once (the first game), and my wife wouldn't go at all, since it meant either climbing over the hill, or walking almost the entire way around the stadium. If you have a green parking pass, great, but otherwise... It made me feel all of my 51 years to make that hike.
  12. A guy in my office who lives in Katy and is up on Katy Football (at least, he knows who Mike Stojkovic is), came up to me today and said that he heard TD is going to be hired at one of the Katy ISD high schools. He was pretty excited about it. I don't know which one - I should have listened closer - but I don't think it's the Katy Tigers. There are something like 7 high schools in Katy ISD. I told him about the Marble Falls rumor. So it sounds like TD has interviewed several places. It does seem pretty certain TD will be coaching at a Texas high school next year. BTW, the guy's mom is a UNT alum, so I keep him up to date on the Mean Green.
  13. Don't know if anyone had previously posted this, but Houston Baptist is starting a football team and joining the Southland. Houston Chronicle - HBU accepts invitation to join Southland Conference I guess the Southland had to reload somehow.
  14. So if the PAC 12 & Big 10 won't play mid-majors, then I guess it's time for the mid-majors to boycott them.
  15. Thanks for sharing! Wow, a scholarly paper on Jews and Chinese food! Wonder if they got a government grant? Having grown up on Long Island, and with the rest of my family still living there, I offer this observation: No strip mall on Long Island is complete unless it has a Chinese take-out, a Pizza Parlor, and (at least since the 80's) a nail salon. I liveed in Park Slope for two years before moving back to Texas, and in reverse-commuting to Long Island, used to pass this restaurant almost every day: Shang Chai Kosher Chinese Restaurant Never ate there (never was that curious), but it always gave me a laugh! As for "Eight Crazy Nights", I guess it was crazy if you got presents every night. I didn't, and I don't know anyone else who did, so no, it wasn't crazy. For better or worse, Chanukah is a Christmas substitute.
  16. Pun intended? +1, regardless.
  17. There's some truth to that stereotype. My wife & I were married on Dec. 20th (25 years ago, in the University Ministry Center, which was then also used by the Denton Jewish Congregation - but I digress), so we were on our honeymoon during Christmas. The only restaurant we could find that was open on Christmas day was a Chinese restaurant. I still get a laugh out of that. I can imagine that most of the people there were also Jewish. And, by the way... Get out your harmonica, it's time to celebrate Chanukah!
  18. On Buzztime trivia (at Buffalo Wild Wings, for example), the name "Beef O'Brady's" doesn't fit when one of those bars ranks in the top 20, and they frequently cut off the name so what's shown is "Beef O'Bra". It gives my wife a laughing fit.
  19. Anyone else see Fire Fight'n Boudreaux in the background during the interview with Hudspeth? Lots of copycats these days...
  20. Liquid lunch today, Kram?
  21. At least we weren't called NTSU
  22. And Francis Stroup wrote both the NT and NIU fight songs! The North Texan Fall 2008 Francis Stroup Obituary
  23. +1 If MLB wants to blow apart the NL & AL and completely re-align into regional divisions for more competition and rivalries, that's fine with me. But to blackmail the new owners of the Astros, forcing them to be the only team to switch leagues, is completely wrong. I grew up in NY as a Yankee fan, and therefore with the DH. Since living in the Houston area, and watching the Astros, I've come to the conclusion that baseball is a much better game - strategically - without the DH. Regardless of any realignment, the DH should be abolished.
  24. Actually, that was before the Troy game. He has the potential to break several of Patrick Cobbs' records. Using the following links from meangreensports.com: 2011 North Texas Football Fact and Records Book 2011 Cumulative Season Statistics (through 9 games - before Troy) North Texas vs TROY (Nov 12, 2011) Career Rushing Yards - needs 142 PC: 4050 LD: 3109 + 762 + 38 = 3909 Career Touchdowns - ALREADY BROKEN! PC: 36 LD: 31 + 6 = 37 Career 100 yard Rushing Games - needs 2 PC: 21 LD: 16 + 4 = 20 (Indiana, Tulsa, FAU, ULM) Career All-purpose Yards - needs 170 PC: 5222 LD: 3900 + 1107 + 46 = 5053
