  1. This would have been even more interesting BEFORE the football game.
  2. I sent you a PM.
  3. We didn't play either of the F_U schools last year (and therefore didn't beat them up), so they won't be coming into Apogee looking for revenge. So there's that...
  4. This one? 79 New Orleans Saints Kim Phillips Defensive back North Texas http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1989_NFL_draft To be honest, I did a google search not knowing what I'd find.
  5. Has FIU built a pressbox yet?
  6. Yes, it is HBU, and the CVS is on the corner of Beechnut & Fondren, on the corner of the HBU property, and right next to the stadium. There used to be a Putt-Putt miniature golf and driving range there 25-30 years ago. Before last season, they put in a field, but only used it for practice - they played their games at Strake Jesuit HS stadium. Before this season, they built the erector-set stadium - actually half of a stadium. I guess they'll have to tear down the CVS to build the other half at some point. I actually haven't driven past it, and only found out they had built it a couple of weeks ago when I was curious to see whether they were still playing at Strake Jesuit and went to the HBU football website: http://www.hbuhuskies.com/sports/2011/9/21/Facilities.aspx Check out that Basketball venue - NT has played HBU there a couple of times. Well, how about that - they'll be playing Nicholls State for their Homecoming on the 25th! http://www.hbuhuskies.com/schedule.aspx?path=football
  7. Congrats! Repealing the Wright Amendment has had some wonderful unintended consequences!
  8. Austin Keel: Richard Kiel:
  9. Wow, there are so many to choose from!
  10. But wait, there's more!
  11. Derek Thompson and the Dominos
  12. That's not a direct quote from the book. Try again.
  13. Sorry, Brett, I just couldn't resist... I do enjoy reading your blog - thanks.
  14. Brother Vito: "Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out." King Arthur: Right. One... two... five! Galahad: Three, sir. King Arthur: Three!
  15. doesn't seem like much of a challenge to him! I seem to be having this tremendous difficulty with my lifestyle...
  16. Just received, in the Mean Green Club newsletter: I know there won't be a pep rally on Friday night like there was before the UH game a couple of years ago, since there's a "by invitation only" alumni association event that night. So - whether you live in the Houston area, or are coming down for the game, who wants to have a post-game gathering? It doesn't have to be directly after the game, it could be in the evening.
  17. I think some Pan-Galactic Gargle Blasters are needed even more.
  18. FFR Trivia: What do Rick and Howard Schnellenberger have in common? They both have appeared as an extra in a movie holding a gun at a football game (!) Rick, of course, had the role as the Armadillo mascot in Necessary Roughness, and in the final scene, holds the "gun" to the head of Dean Elias. Schnellenberger, in the movie M*A*S*H, plays the ref who fires the gun to signal the end of the football game. http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/M*A*S*H_(1970) (scroll down for the picture - no mustache!) Interesting - we know that pro football players were used as extras in "NR" - they did the same thing in MASH - most notably Fran Tarkenton and Johnny Unitas.
  19. Happy Birthday!
