  1. Same here, although it's been a lot harder for me to find people to come to the games with me. Most of the time, I can't give my unused tickets away, so sell them? Hah! @SilverEagle - Check your renewal invoice - that $1320 includes chairbacks, which I know you haven't had. Maybe your donation is more than the minimum $500, though. Add: Gas: approx 22 gallons round-trip; this year, assuming $2/gallon this year, that would be $44. Much better than when gas was up near $4/gallon. Hotel: $75 -$125 assuming I stay one night. So, let's say $150 per game x 6 = $900. So my total is well over $2000 for the season. I'm seriously considering it. With games two weeks in a row in both September and in October, I may just go to one of each, to the SMU game, and more likely Marshall than MUTS. I'll definitely be at the game at Rice, and if I can swing it, I might schedule a trip to visit my mom on Long Island so I could go to the Army game. if my wife wanted to go to the Riverwalk, then maybe I'd go to the UTSA game, but that is a week before La Tech, so I'd still prefer to go to Denton. So, if I do that, maybe 4 home games, and possibly 2 or 3 road games. That's still quite a commitment, I'd say. I was just looking at Apogee seating map page. Does anyone know how this works? It just might be the way to go for us out-of-towners:
  2. Looks like "The Dude"s landlord. No wonder...
  3. Looks like a 35 - 40,000 design to me.
  4. I didn't have to audition, just had to register. I'm not sure, but I think they checked to see if you were a music major or not. I can't say if there were auditions for non-majors. Within the drum line, the grad student "coordinator" (for lack of a better term) "auditioned" everyone to see who would play snare, tri-toms, bass, and cymbals. I wonder if there had been someone who really couldn't play, whether he/she would have been encouraged to drop out, but that wasn't the case. It was a required "class" for music ed majors, worth 1 credit, and it also fulfilled one of the four Phys Ed classes required for graduation. I don't know if it's the same now.
  5. I hope you said that because I drive up from Sugar Land, not because I sit in front of you. I enjoy the company in 105. Of course, I didn't sit in front of you at Fouts when you had your infamous confrontation with the coaching staff. <POW!> don't know why, it just won't let me use the emoticons today...
  6. I wonder how much worse these numbers would be if the mandatory donations were comparable to the other Texas FBS schools. There's a reason it only takes a $500 donation to sit between the 45s at Apogee - there isn't any demand. Every year section 105 has gotten more and more empty. And why isn't there any demand? Cue...
  7. So... "Mostly Harmless"
  8. Take a look at these hands Take a look at these hands The hand speaks, the hand of a government man
  9. Surely we'd rank much higher with Sith Lettrell. No, no respect at all.
  10. The first sign (other than the oil companies) that the recession has already started.
  11. Cue the groundless speculation about UTEP leaving for MWC, with NMSU replacing them in CUSA...
  12. Actually, he does - ranks right up there with Robert Castleberry, Al Hurley, and Ann Richards:
  13. Thanks for sharing, Rick. Care to share more about Brynarski's tantrum? North Texas University? close enough for this article. Times have certainly changed at NT and in Denton since then - she wouldn't have a problem finding vegetarian food now. Isn't there a vegetarian dorm cafeteria?
  14. Shouldn't this be called "The Eagle's Sweater Vest"?
  15. Still, it was the cheapest beer anywhere in Denton, and it was a short walk from Bruce Hall. So we drank it.
  16. That would be a good thing, since that Saturday is TX-OU. Although, if we have to have a game the same day as TX-OU, Marshall is about as good as a draw as it can get. Might as well make it Homecoming too - that at least got people to tailgate last year.
  17. 1980-81: $1.50 pitchers of Old Milwaukee at the Rock Bottom Lounge.
  18. You mean Milk and Cookie time? Before nap period.
  19. And even though we have a game the same day as UT-OU, it's Marshall, which should be a good draw. Hopefully it will be an evening kickoff. Maybe that will be picked to be our Thursday TV game? For me, living in the Houston area, besides there being 6 home games, I get the every-other-year Rice "home" game, and UTSA is also a great road trip. Add the possibility of combining the Army Game with a trip to visit my Mom on Long Island, and I might make it to 9 games this year! And, @meanJewGreen, no conflicts with the Jewish Holidays this year.
  20. Hire someone who has been successful working in marketing for a minor league baseball team.
  21. Since the question of him coming to NT is now a moot point, and no one can say I'm derailing the thread, I'll go ahead and add this:
  22. About a year or so ago, UH was plastering Houston with billboards about becoming Tier 1. Perhaps this is what they were talking about. I hope that NT does the same, plastering DFW with billboards.
