  1. @FirefightnRick says "Come and get it!"
  2. A Pork pie hat would be more fitting for jazzers. But if you want to go with a Fedora, then you could cross-market as "Tom Landry day", and for the computer geeks, "Linux day".
  3. It's either a 3 & out, or give up a touchdown. 🤢
  4. I like it!
  5. There WAS a men's university: A&M. But, no, it wasn't called as such, and it no longer has that reputation, unlike TWU.
  6. Coach Gennero would approve.
  7. None of the obituaries really stand out to me (do a search and take your pick), so I'll just link his wikipedia page. I had the privilege of seeing him perform at least twice; the two times I remember were first at an outdoor venue in downtown Austin in the late 90s, and the second time at "The Mucky Duck" club in Houston, which also was a book signing event. Kinky was a satirist, and definitely an independent. The lyrics of most of his songs can't be taken at face value; and are frequently shocking - on purpose. Listen to his music, read his books and Texas Monthly columns, and you might begin to understand him. He had some unforgettable one liners: "Vote for me, and I'll lower the speed limit from 55 to 54.99" (when the speed limit was 55, and he was running for JP in Kerrville; a "Jewish Joke") "If you're going to drink and drive, don't forget your car" "Are there any children in the audience? No? Good - because I wouldn't want to say 'duck' in front of a C-H-I-L-D" Sometime in the 90's, Kinky did a comedic music video of "Get Your Biscuits In The Oven" with good friend Ruth Buzzi (Laugh-In) and Richard Moll (Night Court). FWIW, Ruth Buzzi has lived north of Fort Worth for many years. The video has some scenes which might have been filmed in Fort Worth.
  8. I'm going to guess that with the name "Interstellar BBQ" that there's some connection to Matthew McConaughey. Doesn't have to, but...
  9. UTD has a mascot? What is it, a TI calculator? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_Texas_at_Dallas It was initially founded in 1961 as a private research arm of Texas Instruments.
  10. Cue @FirefightnRick, etc...

  12. If anyone else has a single ticket, I'm interested. Otherwise, I'm just going to get a GA ticket when I get there (like I've always done).
  13. The Kibbie Dome is where the 2001 team won the Sun Belt title, and the spot in the New Orleans bowl.
  14. It's always mentioned that Rick was "seen but unseen" as the armadillo mascot, but he did get one second (two?) of face time when he fired the cannon:
  15. That wouldn't be large enough for "plastic nachos with rubber cheese".
  16. No - at the first Texas Rangers stadium! My wife and I went to plenty of games there when we were dating. I think we still have a few "batting helmet" ice cream cups in the back of the kitchen cabinet. 🙂
  17. As long as neither one's first name is Edsel...
