Add a wife, 2.5 yr old and a 7 month old baby and it's even more fun.

After never actually paying attention to what Harry looked like in pictures, I can say the GMG shirt was a saving grace, I mistaked Evan for Harry, but was quickly pointed to him. Uber nice, and it seems like everyone is lurking on this board. Not a single fan I met that hadn't been on the board, including Mr Kuehne and several AD staff members. Humble beginnings to hub of influence. I would purchase said shirt, you should have to be a MGC member and donor to GMG.com for access to shirt purchasing.

Gents, we came out flat, and when I say flat, I mean west texas roads flat. I mentioned this once, but in being on the first row of the visitor sideline behind our team, I expected to hear a snarling bunch of caged beasts foaming at the mouth to go knock the golden panther piss out of their opponents. What I saw instead was a team that was preparing for a trip to the library. Here's hoping someone lights a season turning fire under some arses and we see a team come out with some ferocity. I'll say again, the TY Hilton show whooped our arse. We're not good enough to play with fire, and we did from the opening kickoff on. Everybody learns from this, it's not how far you fall but how high you bounce back. No excuses, show up and hit the guy in the mouth that lines up across from you.

Other than the 1st quarter of play, it was a great trip. Staying at the team hotel was the best call, we got to share a 22 floor elevator ride with Coach Dan and Coach Canales, both very personable and engaged my 2.5 yr old son. Can't express the impact he had on my wife and I, we were both just so impressed and pleased that we're represented by this staff. Got a chance to meet up with Harry and Evan in the lobby as well as many players parents, and 2nd cool elevator trip of the day, met Ernie Kuehne and sat in the lobby talking with him for 20 minutes or so. Another class act of which I'm proud to have help represent our school. I made sure to thank him for his donation before he could bring it up, and let him know he inspires me to do more, so I can make more, so I can give more. And at the game, met some adopted fans, Smoothfresh and his wife and son. It was meant to be, our sons are born a week apart and showed up to the game with matching t-shirts. These are folks who graduated from schools other than UNT, but due to where they live, have adopted UNT, got club level seats, and came to the FIU game. Again, fans like these inspiure me to do more, to make more, to buy more. Overall, aside from the actual game itself, could not have enjoyed the experience any better and for those who haven't done it, go to a road game, experience the feeling of unity thru green, makes next weekend's home game even sweeter. And I don't know if she reads the board or not, but uber love to Michael Stojkovic's Mom, who was kind enough to let our family of 4 pile in to their car for the walk around the stadium to the visitor's entrance in the rain. We'll be rooting for #31 with a little extra passion.

Realistic expectations come into focus
FloMoGrad replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I was at the game, wife, 2.5 yr old and 7 month old. The team was flat. They looked flat in warmups and flat on the sidelines. The weather and delay I'm sure had something to do with it, but other than the student section, which was full and loud, the rest of the stadium was nearly empty. My expectations are still the same at 5 wins, we learned a lot, we'll progress and we're getting our sternest tests up front. Not impressed one bit by FIU's facilities. Erector set. -
For those that weren't there, it was a sloppy wet mess, rain the entire first half. Didn't stop FIU, but they spend quite a bit of time in South Florida in the rain. It affected us, especially when you arm tackle. The fact we manned up on Hilton is beyond me. We should have doubled him all night with press at the line and a dedicated safety over the top, made them beat us some other way. We tried to establish Lance early, they loaded up and crushed it. We kept feeding T.Y. with punts, kickoffs and open receptions and he did his damage. Expected more, still do, interesting to see what kind of character this team has.

For those who haven't received their tickets yet
FloMoGrad replied to aprice's topic in Mean Green Football
I imagine they're a little busy, they got me everything I ordered and paid for, including my extra single game tickets. Joe Church has been outstanding throughout. -
Houston's better than FIU but were not as bad as the 1st quarter of FIU. Nonetheless, gonna be a tough game.

See you there Harry, cannot wait, driving down Thursday morning, leaving bright and early to catch the GMG lunch, thanks for setting this up, did I say cannot wait?

The Most Important Question of All...
FloMoGrad replied to findingbennyanders's topic in Mean Green Football
All about efficiency. Why I have an IV bag of whiskey ready to be inserted straight into my liver, skip the glass, mouth, throat, stomach, upper and lower intestines, get right to the chase. -
I definately didn't appreciate Scott while in school and wacthing him. It's only in retorspect and after wacthing the efforts of others do Irealize what Scott brought to the table and how winning cannot be undervalued at any cost. Gets my vote for 1st ballot.

Dean - We'd all like to sit between the 40's, even season ticket holders have trouble getting those seats, especially on a single game basis. If I'm not mistaken, between the 40's is nearly entirely sold out by season ticket holders. Enjoy the game and safe travels.

The entire A&M situation is a cluster and makes them look like a bunch of idiots, imho. We built the stadium we needed and can fill now. We sell out 2-3 games a year, then we can start the how do we fit 40K in the stadium threads. For now, fill it up and the rest takes care of itself, including new conferences, indoor practice facilities, baseball program and any thing else we can dream up. Starts with sold out home football games.

Just sayin, not much changed, this is a UNT football tradition in my family....Diaper bags are an alcoholics blessing. -
I had to get my 2 yr old to watch this with me. Cannot tell you the sense of pride I'm filled with as I watched this. Great film, really enjoyed it.

We need more underpants.

"We have to be assignment-sound, play with unbelievable effort, have solid fundamentals and tackle. Those simple things were the biggest issues last year.” Makes it sound like we should see immediate improvement. Ready to witness the rebirth of the Mean Green D.

Eric Capper tweets 6 Frosh and 12 Sophs in 2-Deep
FloMoGrad replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
18 underclassmen in the 2 deep, as long as the best players are on the field I could care less what class they are. -
Thank you sir, I enjoyed myself far too much in your establishment, far too many times, and probably owe you a drink or two for my behaivor at times... Always enjoyed Tavern.

I was afraid of this.

We're flying in for the home opener on Thursday so we can take a tour of the stadium Friday. Joe's been great, helped with every issue I've voiced.

Going To Miami For North Texas vs. FIU
FloMoGrad replied to Mean Green Scrappy's topic in Mean Green Football
Showers in South Florida last 30 mins at most. It literally rains every day and typically always around 5:00. My prediction, rains during tailgating, then a beautiful night of Mean Green football. -
I get this and use it as a segway so many times it's not even funny. Once I point out the eagles wings on the sides, they typically get the difference pretty quick, but that big star on top.
