  1. I think it's sad our Athletics Dept isn't plastering every dorm, hallway, and university owned property with marketing materials on every upcoming game. This is such a missed opportunity to build a fan base that grows into donors.
  2. That's kind of what I was thinking. Exciting times my friends, exciting times.
  3. Pretty much dead on. From a 3rd party perspective, it's still a very tough sell. Smallest changes can have the greatest impact. We're poised and ready for something special, could really care less about the rest of the belt.
  4. All good eitherways. The fact that a Big 10 school saw the same thing we did at least gives me hope that we're finally hiring the right type of coaches. Dan will find another, although I hope Bowen stays. Crazy time of year, let's just take a deep breath and hash it all out when the dust settles. Hope you stay Coach Bowen, was looking forward to seeing your stamp on our Defense. Go Mean Green!
  5. Hardcore fans, yes, we've lost a few, but you're right, we've gained much more new fans. I also agree that while already working with razor thin margins, I'm more inspired than ever to go a little bit further, give a little more, support a little more, drive this ship where I want to see it go. Exciting time my friends, exciting times.
  6. I absolutely feel the same way. I always felt like UNT was my grass roots effort at college football. But things are changing, tides are turning, expectations are being raised and standards set. Is it just me, or has RV done a pretty darn good job or guiding us thru multiple presidents, agendas, projects and coaches. The Dodge hire was bold if not anything else, but the new staff, increased budgets, coordination and transparency on the stadium project... I'm pretty impressed with where we've come from and where we're headed. I'm young, new baby girl on the way in Feb., but I can assure you my donation level and commitment, both financially and emotionally, have and will increase as a result of the recent efforts. I've been a MGC member and season ticket holder, but this year was tough after a move to Florida in August. But seeing the direction and excitement of this program has me wholly committed to season tickets at the new stadium, when in reality I'll probably only be able to attend 1 game. I plan on being back in North Texas in 5-10 years, and I know then, I'll be glad I picked my seats and got my popcorn ready. How long till the home opener?
  7. I'd say that's a fairly good guess. Might be in the $140K range, that'd represent us doubling his salary from last year...
  8. 100% Agreed. Higher pay typically equals more qualified candidates. The hires made this offseason will pay huge dividends immediately. Exciting times...Exciting times!
  9. As someone new to Beef OBrady's territory, I'm on board... Foods good, service is dependable, wife and I love Beef O'Brady's down here in FL... You hit the nail on the head, no bowl game is meaningless and I will be ecstatic when we make our first bowl game in nearly 7 yrs next year, regardless of who, when or where we play.
  10. Do not underestimate the talent level of the SWJCFC. Blinn, Navarro, Tyler, Kilgore, Ranger and Cisco JC's. Kilgore put 5 players off their 2001 National Championship team in the NFL, with players going to schools like: Miami, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah, Marshall and Tennessee. There is a tremendous amount of talent in Texas Juco's, ask Auburn how their Juco QB worked out for them
  11. Unless I'm mistaken aren't all visits shelved for this weekend, or was that last weekend? You're welcome for adding nothing to this thread but confusion.
  12. Agreed, if we start looking for issues, Johnny gets benefit of doubt... Can we chalk this up to a learning experience? Not everybody is going to lay down and hand it to us. Just glad to see a program where we're 7-2 and upset about 1 of our 2 losses, as well as a couple of the wins... Much rather throw a clunker against SMHU than in conference play... Let's call it a wake-up call and and an eye-opener for the boys...
  13. So there seemed to be a lot of debate during our last coaching change as to when TD actually gets credited with his first recruiting class, so it begs the quesiton in my mind: Do we consider this Dan's 1st real recruiting class or do we hold off on that till next year when he's had a true year to institute his philosophy and target his recruits.
  14. Give me athletes all day. Kid looks like a beast, let's hope that time at DT helped develop a Nasty streak... Welcome aboard, now get to work and let's win some games!
  15. Some of those "meaningless" bowls turn out to be amazing games to watch. 2002 Motor City Bowl with Marshall and ECU comes to mind with plenty of others... Craziest game I've ever seen. And we wouldn't be saying that if we were in any one of those 35 bowls. Just happy to see the Belt in 3, although I wish at least one was against someone other than the MAC...
  16. Ouststanding! Literally giddy for the home opener next year... Exciting times my friends, exciting times.
  17. Don't forget cafeteria duty... classic..
  18. Another Solid hire with BCS caliber experience. Love it, keep em coming Dan!
  19. I moved to South of Tampa earlier this year, and incidentally have a lot of coworkers who are ex-gators, some just a few months out of school, and the consensus I hear from them, fwiw, is they go after McCarney to come back... I don't think Dan leaves us in the lurch like that, but crazier things have happened. Just thought I'd share.
  20. Saga begins again, Urban Meyer just announced he's stepping down. Wonder if McCarney can pick off any of their other assistants. Interesting.
  21. Exciting Yimes folks, exciting times. Young, energetic, passionate coordinators, with BCS caliber experience led by an experienced, ultra positive head coach. This is starting to look like a recipe for success.
  22. Bingo! We have guys that have been at the highest level of college football and know what it takes to get us to that level. Exciting times folks! Exciting times!
  23. Understatement of the year, though not sure how your original post made that point. Getting out of the sunbelt is our key to profitability and long term success. One BCS game generates 16 million or so for their respective conference. Our 3 bowl game tie-ins for the Belt don't generate but maybe 2 million. It's about bowl games, tv right and deals and sold-out stadiums week in and week out. But agreed, win some games and "its makes everything a lot more simpler"
  24. My thoughts exactly. $50 more for 2 seats, and I get the pleasure of the new stadium... Outstanding job by those in charge
