  1. Air Force only recruits top notch, best of the brightest type of kids... If he was being recruited by the Academy, he's an extremely intelligent, ultra well rounded athlete. I had an appointment to the AFA out of HS, took my official visit, and was blown away by the entire system. Love this recruit, we all get so caught up in the Frame and Numbers, we forget that height doesn't predict greatness, way too many examples of that, Drew Brees? This is a win!
  2. Outside the box, love it. Hell, it's the same philosophy a lot of NFL teams employ, think Steelers and they're converted DE's to LB's... This is the type of thinking that gets us out of our box, out of the limiting thinking UNT fans are often caught in... So we can't go out and find a stud NT, doesn't mean we can't make our own... Appreciate the nugs of experience YS...
  3. AC/DC still rock hard I still get chills every time I hear "thunderstruck" fwiw, always will. If we're going to set the tone though, why not Prong "Snap your fingers, snap your neck" And I doubt the Prs would endorse Lil John or Lil anybody, but I'd go Ape feces to hear some Hip-Hop, anybody, accompany my Mean Green.
  4. Cam, your sentiments and insight are appreciated, and are seemingly the same thing I hear when I inquire about coach Dan with anyone that's ever been around or followed the man. Exciting times my friends, exciting times...
  5. that would be a welcome perk
  6. I emailed the dept today with some specific ideas along these lines.
  7. already posted
  8. Add White pants as an option and I love the 3 dominant color look, interchanged and used as coach sees fit... Tons of options there..
  9. Survival of the fittest. If the SWC could die, any conference can die.
  10. I like that idea...Alumni have their place in the Alumni Pavilion, it would make a neat Walk of Fame kind of deal... But typically the paver sales, are for revenue generation, so limiting it to former players, severely limits your total revenue. Maybe reserve a portion of the walkway for former players?
  11. Agreed.
  12. So how about that Dan McCarney live chat yesterday. He passion and energy are infectious.
  13. I'll get flamed for this, all good... I like it bdan... Think it looks sharp.
  14. And to paraphrase, you are in favor of keeping the current system, which guarantees we'll never have shot at equal footing. Kind of counter productive? Honestly, I'm open to anything that expands the current horizons, crowns a true national championship, and starts to erode the inherent inequity of the BCS system.
  15. a 4:00 Friday State Championship? Are kids out of school already down there? That seems like a terrible time decision...
  16. Absolutely agree the AQ's aren't gong to agree to any de-leveraging from their current system. That's not the point or argument, where did I say or imply that? Congress or some other agency would have to step in to make things work, we know the NCAA doesn't have the balls to stand up for itself in this case. My point is, we wouldn't lose out on the bowl games chances we've got now if a playoff goes into effect. A playoff is wanted so we can actually crown a true national championship. And those 2-4 At large bids in the 24 team playoff system could but don't have to come from AQ's... Well bud, if the best 24 are from AQ schools, then so be it, that's not that hard to believe and save for 1-2 teams each year, it's pretty much this way anyway. But TCU and Boise St would both have qualified for a playoff this yr. Playoff would be the top 16-24 duking it out, which let's get real, we're not going to be involved in for at least a few years to come. I'm all for establishing a legitimate way to crown a national champion. What prevents this from happening is the BCS and it's good old boy system. I'm not looking for equity from the BCS, that won't happen, I want a true national champion, not some computer generated popularity contest, that gets screwed up every other year.
  17. Most every playoff system I've seen called for leaves some of the smaller bowls in place for teams that don't qualify for the playoff, think NIT. A Playoff and Bowl games aren't mutually exclusive.
  18. I don't know about the rest of you guys, but that is outstanding news! That will also shift even more demand to the club level. And sounds like Coach Dan is building a community presence. [sarcasm] He better have bought a house already [/sarcasm]
  19. Marketing, crazy what it can do when done effectively. Bet the University would Eagle up a few 100 or so as well, since it's a win-win all the way around.
  20. I'm totally down to bring 2-3 teddy bears for the home opener, I'll swing by Voertman's and pick up a few of those scrappy stuffed eagles...Build a little brand awareness at the same time Who's gonna pitch this to the AD?
  21. Bill Gates got his programming start at Washington University, (my mistake not WSU) where his mother taught, when he was in HS and contributes heavily towards their institution. Check out Macolm Gladwell's Outlier's for a good read on WU and Bill Gates. Boone Pickens is relevant to the conversation as well.
  22. New one on me.. Thanks...
  23. Forgive my ignorance, explanation please?
  24. Dude, I might stand solo in my feelings, but from 2000-2003, my time on UNT's campus, it never felt like the community supported the University. Might just be my perspective, but I'd much rather have a coach focused on the metroplex and that relationship than building the community relationship in Denton. And I know, I don't live in Denton, but my perspective, as little as that means.
  25. Kram1, absolutely appreciate the kind words, not fishing for Fan of the year award by any means. Nobody owes me anything, I take my alma mater extremely seriously, and anybody that comes within earshot of me is going to get their fill of UNT. Agreed though, we can use all the fans we can get, fresh out of commencement, or more experienced, male, female, donkey, we need support. I just wanted people to realize that there's more "kids" like me out there, than there are alumni that can fork up 1200 a year for 2 seats in the Club Level, even without the one-time required donation. And I have family with season tickets at Auburn and Alabama, trust me, I understand what Big-Time college football costs, and understand the truly unique opportunity UNT FB allows. My dad has season tickets for the Cowboys, and he spends more on his parking yearly, than I do for my MGC donation, 2 seats, alumni membership, and a new UNT hat. Best bang for your buck deal on Football in the metroplex, same argument can be made for the education as well. So yeah, so long MGC deck, it was nice to have you as an option, but upwards and onwards, I'll trade your weathered wooden rails for 15 concession stands and too many latrines to count, any and every day of the week.
