Could not agree more! I was dumbfounded when I saw the recent article in the DMN. Not only gained 1,000 yards rushing, but receiving as well! In a run focused offense at Marcus now. Let's hope that the powers at be have already made a few phone calls by now. Would love to see him walk-on closer to home if anything.

It's experiences like these, more than anything else, that make me miss living in the North Texas area. Listening to the game on 88.1 online, you could feel the excitement, and when they had the donor presentation, it just gave me chills, standing in a garage, nearly 1200 miles away. Thanks for the recap, I'll continue to live vicariously thru those on the board until the time comes when I can move the family "home". Thanks Kram.

Couldn't agree more Kram... Money like this often serves as a benchmark for other donors.... "So old Ernie eagled up a cool mil huh.... Betty, call my accountant and see if I can go 1.5...." Just amazed at this type of donation, only inspires me to do more, work harder, save a little more, give back a little more... Teachers college... right.... The money's out there folks, it's the University's job to stay in the alumni's face, constantly driving home the need vs want paradigm of our program.

Barkeep: I'll have what he's having. We all tend to forget that DD the head coach should be judged off of just that, his coaching resume, which stands on it's own merit. As a matter of DD the person, that's open for debate and is a matter of opinion. I appreciated the wins and enjoyed many of those seasons as a student and green winged alumni yet in the same breath was glad to see him go and felt it was a time for a change. I wish him nothing but the best and hold no ill will, he was what we needed at the time and progressed us, however we measure it, one step closer to where we wanted to be. Now, how far have we come from DD in a coach like Dan Mac? That's what striked me most about this entire thread.

I appreciate your sense of awareness at the job at hand, but I really think we're one winning season away from seeing the slumbering titan start to stir. So many positives despite the lack of success on the field, only a matter of time, and I don't think we're talking 3-5 yr plan here, before the efforts made behind the scenes start to materialize into win's.

That's crazy! I met Trip at Royal Oaks one afternoon and know the Kuehne family from their golfing success very well, just never dawned on me it was one in the same. Very Cool! Amazing golfing family to say the least....

Just heard on the radio broadcast of the BBall game that Mr Keene (sp?) just donated $1,000,000.00 to the UNT Athletic Dept. That is amazing! Thank you sir! Your generosity and loyalty are an inspiration to all those who hear this news. Go Mean Green! (Admins move if necessary)

I'm almost amazed at what we've seen happen so far in recruiting and we all know the day of is always kind of an uncloaking in a lot of ways as well. Definately seeing the momentum starting to build and more and more talent start to give is a serious look. Add in a winning season this year, and we've got the makings of something truly special going on around here.

Saw this article and thought it was worth posting... Rushed for 1,000 yards and had 1,000 yards receiving his Sr yr. Can't believe he's not getting any looks. http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/high-schools/headlines/20110106-flower-mound-rb-hunter-lee-still-without-a-scholarship-offer.ece

Starts and ends in the trenches, couldn't agree more. Just keep getting quality talent at as many positions as we can and Dan & Co will figure out how to maximize. Really excited about this recruiting class, and got a feeling there's a few more sleepers to pop up in the next few weeks! Exciting times my friends, exciting times!

This is another step in the right direction. It also spurred me on to advance to the next donation level, which I'll try to do every 2-3 yrs, if not sooner. I have my sights set on the $1,000 mark, so when I move back, I can get the wife and I a couple floor seats to basketball. My kid would love that in 3-4 yrs I'm sure.

The run where he loses a shoe and breaks like 2 or 3 tackles with one shoe on is still sick, like what, 6 or 7 yrs later? He was fun to watch, hope he's well.

Turn Out Turn Off The Wac Lights Please !

I'd like to think he already has and meetings may have already occurred for all we know, not like much media camps out at the Athletic Offices. RV has delivered for this program in so many areas, I have faith he's done his due diligence and we're as well poised as anyone for future developments. Exciting times to say the least... -
Pulling out the student directory. Nice touch son. Kid's a beast, period. Thing that impressed me most, on top of his squat and bench #'s for a 19 yr old, was the two foot, standing two handed dunk. That's pure explosive power right there and coordination. Love it! Imagine the holes and the ends he seals off for Lance next year. Love it!

Kind of the point I was driving at, and he only looked at student body. What about those working for the school, paying property taxes and the same. And my discretionary income was significantly higher in college than it is now with a burgeoning young family and stay at home wife. Still don't think UNT is the burden on Denton Ill makes it out to be...

4 Teams You Would Like To Home & Home With

SMU and UH are tops... Since they're already done: UCF/USF Baylor Kansas/Kansas St Southern Miss -
I never lived on Campus, always in an apartment off-campus, but in Denton. Eating at restaurants in town, working and spending in that town. The school is tax exempt, but the 35,000 students and thousands of faculty are not. I don't think it's as burdonsome as you portray. But the truth is, just like in every situation, start with the end in mind. Involve all affected parties and move the process forward anticipating all the needs for your prpject. Anything less is mis-management. Period. And Corinth/HV/Flower Mound built a new bridge and road thru solid neighborhoods in 3-5 yrs...Environmental Impact Studies, public forums and the like. We're talking about widening existing roads and making needed improvements to a decades old on/off ramp. One new 4 lane road. This is all manageable and should have been in the works, if not started on or even close to completed, by now.

Rick Villareal And Dan Mccarney

True Story! I read that a couple of days ago and thought about the effect it would have on us... Still can't believe they ran Wannstedt out. RV and the gang are looking better by the minute with everything they've done. Exciting times. -
Great post. If we were in it, we'd be tickled green and partying all the way down 35 to fairpark. Kudos to this gent, I still like the Cotton Bowl and if it's going to remain in that area, the entire metroplex would behooved to see it flourish for all the reasons you listed and more. And with how spread out all the bowl games are now, I for one don't think there's too many bowl games on. 10 yrs ago everything was centered around new Year's day, now it's a 3 week long feast of go for broke college football.

Why can't our money games ever come at a down time for one of the big boys? Seems like we always catch them on the Top 5 or Top 10 swing. K State game was awesome and we're starting to see more of this type of scheduling with our home game against IU next year. (Although not sure if these are 1-1 or 2-1 type games) Yellow Snow made a great point about the body bag games being more detrimental to the external perceptions of our program than the actual conference affiliation and W/L Record and I would agree to a large part. If we truly want to stop the body bag games, we need to pack arses in the stadium and we won't have to. Period. The reality of our situation is dictated by our Home Attendance. Keep in mind it will also be the first time we can actually produce a large revenue at home, no more renting costly equipment, and to some degree, the Club Level and Luxury Suites should help to offset these type of revenue sources as well. There's a significant possibility RV has had the opportunity for more K State/Baylor/IU games the last 4-5 years, but our financial needs dictated our schedule more than the long term vision and success of the on field product. Also bear in mind, that even with only "30K" in the seats, we're in the heart of the most talent laden areas in the country and I'm sure a host of schools from the Rust Belt and Eastern seaboard would jump at the opportunity for some Texas exposure. I expect for them (money games) to continue for another 2-3 years and by then, we should be capitalized enough to be able to afford to dictate our own terms, to some degree.

This makes way too much sense too actually happen...

Doesn't compare to 7+ million in the D/FW Metroplex (50 mile Radius), without an AQ, National Championship program in that same vicinity. And 75% of those 2.5 million are within 25 miles of Austin, not San Marcos. And you're on a football message board, why bring up rivalry's in other sports? Love the passion, absolutely appreciate it, but a long way to go my friend. Best of luck, sincerely, for you will need it.

Since attending games is out of the question due to the 1200 miles that seperates me from Denton, I will heed your challenge and resolve to purchase Men's BB season tickets this year, for 2011-2012 season, and donate them to the AD.

I hear a lot of yall did this, well just wait, we're going to do that... Wish you guys the best of luck, but buy a vowel and a clue, you'd love to switch positions with UNT at this point, we've got a 5-10 yr running start on where you're currently at, a BCS caliber coaching staff, a nationally recognized LEED certified stadium and haven't even scratched the surface of our potential. Hit us up again when you have a head coach in place... And calling people douche's, is like tattooing it on your own forehead, just doesn't get you very far.
