Impressively put together and comprehensive. This would be an amazing class for yr 1, imho.

I am so confused at this point. Almost makes me think don't read anything else about WAC, MWC, or CUSA until I see a report on ESPN... Back to head in sand...

Wish him the best, but what a complete dichotomy: UNT vs Naval Academy (any service academy for that matter).

There is and always be a place for talented Juco players in D-1 football. Auburn just one a natinoal championship with one, there's multiple on every BCS roster in the country. Talent isn't always elgible right out the gate. I have no problems signing 2-3 Juco players every yr, whether it be insurance policy types, impact players, or a flat out gamble on. But I am encouraged and suprised by our heavy recruiting of what is seemingly talented HS recruits. I figured to have a much heavier reliance on JuCo's this yr, despite Coach Dan's published intentions to the contrary. But to the thread's point: QB - 0 WR - 1 RB - 0 OL - 2 TE - 0 DT - 2 DE - 0 LB - 1 CB - 1 S - 0 If we're at 17 now, should have at least 7 more left. I agree we should be signing at least 3 Offensive lineman per yr.

Nothing wrong with getting a yr to develop, get his grades up and come in as a RS Freshman or Sophomore. Mentioned Kilgore and TVCC, both have players in the NFL that stopped thru recently.

Agreed.

Video Of Dominique Johnson's Shot

I wasn't there, but that looked like an up and under/double clutch 3 from half court? That was sick. -
I agree. I believe it's got a lot more to do with the quality of the coaching rather than the difference in quality of athletes.

Nice! A win-win, you're correct, was not my comment, so in a message board anamoly, we're both correct! Good point on our first Troy meeting.

And if any of this were true, Virginia Tech would have dominated James Madison as well as Boise St, both of which were essentially home games, and both of which they did not. There's a reason Oregon had a ton of Texas kids on it. Best Football players in the country come from Florida, Texas and California. The best athletes in the country are in the SEC, not the ACC. Again, if the backups were better than most the starters, then the records don't lie. Big XII and SEC dominate NFL rosters, not ACC players. That pretty much sums up the whole talent issue. I'll go SEC as a gauntlet and even Big XII to a large degree, but the ACC slate is not a gauntlet, a good test, sure, stronger than the MWC by leaps and bounds, not likely. Men lie, women lie, numbers don't lie. Check the rankings for the past 2-3 yrs, numbers speak for themselves, as I pointed out in my last post. And to clarify, from which ACC member schoools did you graduate? I can't think for the life of me what other reason would have you so vehemently defending the ACC? And is TCU going to get the same, "You don't play anybody" spiel if they win out in the Big East as well? I guess we'll see...

Ben Roethlisburger is from Miami(OH), MAC school.

Nice work and solid numbers. #'s dipped slightly his sr yr, but to be expected when other teams know you;re coming. Can't wait to get him in the backfield.
-
His spin move is killer! Full speed and plant and gone. You couple this with Lance and that's s stupid sick rushing attack, not to mention the other studs at rb. Gonna be fun to watch this cat for sure.

And that could be the case, but I'm talking about '03, Troy was a full fledged D-1 school. We beat Troy at home 21-0. Our defense absolutely shut them down. This was right after Troy beat Marshall, and right after Marshall beat K State. It was weird for me to be at all 3 games and have it play out the way it did, having ties at both marshall and UNT.

Agreed, I see the potential as well. Houston & Tulsa would be nice momentum starters.

I disagree. As does the author of the article. You posed a question, I replied with an answer. I thought my question was valid, and you provided no answer. Looking at the final BCS rankings: the MWC and WAC both had teams finish higher in the rankings, both had a top 10 team 2 yrs in a row, and both teams were ranked respectively higher than the ACC's 2 top 25 BCS rated teams. Pretty much sums it up. And if memory serves correct, the BCS does factor in Strength of Schedule, correct? So a 1 loss Boise ST team is still significantly better than an 11-3 Virginia Tech team with an 8-0 conference record. If the ACC's so tough, how'd your conference champ go 8-0 in conference play, the gauntlet, then go 5-3 OOC with losses to James Madison (seriously?), Boise St in Maryland (essentially a home game) and then steam rolled by Stanford in their bowl game?

A "field Trip" For My Daughter's Basketball Team
FloMoGrad replied to chrisfisher's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Better yet, send her decked out in head to toe UNT gear. That'll make the ponies cringe. -
Boise St and TCU. next question. Name me one other ACC school that's had close to their records or rankings in the past 3 yrs?

To play 6 degrees, that was the same year Troy beat Marshall at Home the week after Marshall knocked off Kansas State on the road, when K State was #6 in the country. I attended all 3 games that yr (Marshall vs K State, Marshall vs Troy & UNT vs Troy) and was shocked at how good Troy was that yr. And it wasn't pretty, but yes, we did beat them that yr.

How do you not like a 6'5 285 lb d-lineman. Sign him up.

Another Brick in the Wall... Shaping up to be a great class for Coach Dan & Co. Kid looks really nice on video, but agree, he's icing to the cake if we can plug holes on the D-Line.

In my mind at least, it doesn't matter. If the OD/A did cough up names, awesome. if they didn't, still ok, we're obviously finding ways into new Alumni and Donor Networks. I agree it sounds like our nose spiting our face to a large degree, I don't care from where, when, how or why, I'll take all the seven figure donors we can find, with or without other dept's support.

35,000 Students and increasing every yr, coupled with even 50K alumni within 60 miles, in a metorplex of close to 7 million, which could also be argued is one of the most passionate football areas in the country. Add in the upgrade in staff, facilities, stadium, salaries and overall committment to the AD, & I'd say that all adds up to a sleeping giant. Other than that nothing.

MAC perception is better because there seems to be more MAC teams on TV yr in/yr out. A lot of that has to do with the success Marshall had and their willingness to play on Tues/Wed/Thurs nights in order to get airtime on ESPN or ESPN2. Seems other MAC schools caught on and got creative with their scheduling to accomodate Disney's schedule. Lifer is correct, Belt owned the MAC in bowl games this yr. WAC is on a super nova burnout as soon as Boise leaves. Time to get back to the cream of the belt and start changing our conferences perception via our own play and own OOC wins. I'd like to be the reason people take notice of the 'Belt and leave it in better shape than we found it.

I don't care what the Rainbow Nation's Christmas Card looks like, beat them twice and we all but punch our tickets to a first round bye in the SBC tourney, the only thing we cyber space owner/general manager/head coaches need to focus on at this point.
