  1. Demarcus Ayers- grad assistant He came to us from Indiana. https://iuhoosiers.com/staff-directory/demarcus-ayers/3279
  2. Kickers are people too. Welcome aboard!
  3. I was more impressed with his play at TE than LB. He has good hands and had a few TDs. On the defensive side of the ball, there were a few plays where he made tackles for loss while blitzing. I also saw him have a pass break up. I think this is another candidate for a redshirt. He is athletic but a little raw at LB. 11 Rec 140 yards 8 TDs 43 solo tackles 95 assisted tackles (138 total) 4 TFL 1 INT 3 Fumbles Recovered
  4. FBS offers between us and Arkansas State. I was impressed with his closing speed on plays. He did a good job fighting off blocks and making tackles. It might be the defense he plays in, but the LBs look slow to react on defense. At the FBS level, he would get mauled by an OL if he stood around for that long reading a play. He will need to bulk up and improve his reaction times. I imagine he would be a candidate for a redshirt. 6"2 210 pounds 129 Tackles 17 TFL 3 Sacks
  5. Ethan Miner, the Arkansas State Center that just committed to us a few hours ago.
  6. If you have 8 minutes of free time, here is a video from the ULM/Arkansas State game. Our future QB (Chandler Rogers) and Center (Ethan Miner #67) are both in the video. Ethan held his own and made some good blocks. If you have ADHD and want to watch the "cherry picked lol" @UNTcrazy727 plays, here is another video.
  7. I think Morris said one of our biggest weaknesses was OL depth. Manase's cousin (I can't spell his name) and Ethan Miner should address our loss at Center. I bet we have more defensive additions after spring ball. Hopefully we have a few surprises on signing day.
  8. Per his Twitter, he just committed.
  9. Every prospect makes a highlight tape. 27 schools offered him. He had 7 interceptions in 12 games against 6A schools. I can't explain why certain ones did and didn't offer him. It does appear that he was kind of a late bloomer from his junior year until now. Coaches get paid money to watch his full game tapes. I get paid to fill out excel spreadsheets, lead meetings, and post random things on college football message boards lol.
  10. Fair enough. I'm just glad they are addressing the defense.
  11. You said his stats are not impressive. I'm not sure how to perceive that as a positive comment. Yeah, his tape seemed to be geared more to his return game and random plays on offense. We are behind in recruiting due to the timing of the Morris hire. The staff is trying to addresses the secondary which struggled last year. Even if Jackson is returning kicks and a rotational DB, his experience should help our defense. Nelson has great tape. I hope he can't continue getting INTs on our defense.
  12. Go watch his tape. He's a ball hawk. Not sure why 247 doesn't have him ranked. They have been sucking this year.
  13. He was 1st team all-district safety and started on one of the best high school teams in the country. Even if it was over 16 games, that's 4 tackles a game. If your safety is the leading tackler, your defense is not very good. That means your guys deep are constantly making tackles and not the front seven. Our secondary needs help. Let's refrain from bashing the kid.
  14. This is a win. He had 27 offers and we beat several G5 schools for his services. 7 INTs on the season. Great addition to the defense! Offers: Akron, Coastal Carolina, Miami (OH), New Mexico, New Mexico St, North Texas, Old Dominion, Texas St, ACU, Air Force, Navy and 16 FCS offers (Yes 16, I am not going to list them all). https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Brian-Nelson-155044/RecruitInterests/
  15. High school teammate of current commit Desmond Magiya. When I watched Desmond's film, I kept noticing this awesome running back. It was Bryan Jackson scoring TDs or picking up big yards. I doubt we have a chance to sign him, but this kid will do well at the next level.
  16. He was an all conference lineman at Fresno St. It was a challenge to sign him. At least we signed the OL from Georgia Tech. He should do well for us.
  17. It looks like he got a visit from Coach Morris today.
  18. I think a kid that works for the NT Daily also covers us on 247 now. His name is like Reed Smith or something like that.
  19. Here is an interview he did before the state championship game. https://defendernetwork.com/sports/high-school/north-shore-db-evan-jackson-can-ball-for-real/
  20. He had 4 INTs on the year and 64 tackles. It seems they either had him deep covering guys or brought him down in the box to defend against the run. He was very explosive and was a bully on the defense. There were several plays where he took great angles and made solo tackles. I really liked his film and I imagine he would probably compete for playing time as a freshman. He has offers from 7 P5 schools. If we are able to sign him, this is a big win for the defense. Stats: 64 Tackles, 16 PBU, 4 INTs (if I am reading the stats correctly they were all returned for TDs) Highlights: http://www.hudl.com/v/2JzZFS Offers: https://247sports.com/Player/Jayven-Anderson-46116359/ North Texas (lists us first), Arkansas, Arkansas State, Colorado, Houston, Indiana, Ole Miss, Purdue, SMU, Texas, UTSA, and Grambling
  21. I grew up a few counties south of there. We were in the same district with a few schools in the area. Got out as soon as I could lol.
