Breaking News: New DL Commit for North Texas
jtm0097 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
I have no problem with this. We lost a few DL and will need to rotate guys. He has size, played against FBS schools, and had some production. https://umassathletics.com/sports/football/roster/viczaril-alobwede/13822 2 star out of high school, with only 1 offer. https://247sports.com/Player/Viczaril-Alobwede-46097460/high-school-245350/ -
Mean Green Football on 97.1 The Freak this coming season
jtm0097 replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Glad to see that. The Freak could use the listeners. They have a few ex UNT guys on staff. Some of the radio hosts are from the Ticket. -
Adrian Mayes is the RB coach, Kevin Wilson was HC at Indiana when Littrell was OC.

'24 RB Offer: Kedren Young; Lufkin: 4 star - .9051 composite

I appreciate you doing this. It's helpful for tracking guys that we offered and it also helps know the kind of competition we are up against. -
I hear Bud Light is transforming the beer game right now.

Why is RV’s picture no longer on the UNT NIL site
jtm0097 replied to meangreenfaninno's topic in Mean Green Football
There seems to be conflicting information on this thread about what he did and didn't do. I'm not going to praise or bash his character. I have never met the guy. Most of what I have heard from was from former athletes but I'm not going to post that on here. -

jtm0097 replied to meangreenfaninno's topic in Mean Green Football
RV oversaw the Todd Dodge/staff hire and Benford. I know a lot of people were alienated by him during my time at UNT. -
My expectations are to make a bowl game (6-6 or 7-5)and possibly win it. We were very close to doing that last year. They need to move forward and seize the moment. La Tech, FIU, ACU, Navy, Temple, and Tulsa are all winnable. UAB, Cal, and Memphis are toss ups. Tulane, UTSA, and SMU are going to be difficult.

Awesome!

I'm sure this is exactly what's happening. Ball St probably told him that he would start. Maryland probably said "you will be in contention for starting, here's $30k to join the team".

Now Maryland

Are we wearing lederhosen and drinking out of steins for the Temple game?

Let's not dox our new coach lol

I'll be there sweating my ass off in section 106. Might need an IV that evening, but it will be worth it haha.

I guess that means we have another scholarship available. Time to get a TE!

The list was updated to include Keon. Yes, his film is impressive against those small DL. He swallows them lol. https://www.hudl.com/profile/16090317/Keon-Johnson/

These 4 guys were either back ups or not even on the depth chart at their P5 schools. GJ Kinne had a little brother that played football at TJC. I'm sure the connection pulled in Shelton and Harkey (both played at TJC). If Kinne expects these guys to come in and start right away, they will struggle. It's essentially like going to the gas station and buying a scratch off ticket. Sometimes you hit on them, other times you wasted your money (scholarship). Regardless of what the DCTF folks say, Texas State is not ready to compete for a conference championship. GJ pretty much had to gut the roster. It appears he brought over the majority of the Incarnate Word OL and a couple of skill guys from the team as well. I am interested to see how this all plays out, but Texas State has a long ways to go before they are competing for a conference title. They will be lucky to win 4 games next year. Schedule next year: Baylor, UTSA, Jackson State, Nevada, Southern Miss, UL-La, ULM, Troy, Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, Arkansas State, and South Alabama Recruits mentioned in article: Caleb Coleman- WVU 2022 (r-Fr.) Played in five games Added depth at safety and on special teams Assisted on a tackle at Oklahoma State, at Iowa State and against Towson Jaylon Shelton- WVU 2022 (r-So.) Saw action at Texas Tech Alex Harkey- Colorado Harkey is a 6-foot-6, 300-pound offensive tackle that served as a reserve offensive lineman during his career with the Buffaloes. Derrick Brown- Texas A second-year linebacker from Texarkana, Texas. FRESHMAN (2022) Did not see any game action during the 2022 season.

Breaking: ASU Transfer DB Tarik Luckett Commits to North Texas
jtm0097 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
https://247sports.com/college/arizona-state/Article/Tarik-Luckett-ASU-transfer-portal-Sun-Devils-Ro-Torrence-Macen-Williams-Isaiah-Johnson-208914135/Amp/ Here's more information about his background. Let's give the guy a chance. He started a couple of games at Colorado and played some at Arizona State. The speed of the game shouldn't phase him. He hasn't suited up for us yet, and you're already shitting on him. -
Hey GrayEagle, Keon wasn't committed to us at the time of writing this. I can update the list later this weekend when I'm back in DFW. Thanks for catching that.

Breaking: Australian Punter Commits to North Texas
jtm0097 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Lol, come on El Paso. Cheer up buddy, it will be ok. I'm not the reason our football team hasn't won a bowl game in almost 10 years. I won 3 national titles in a row with North Texas on Ncaa 2014. Just relax, it's a holiday weekend. Don't take this stuff so seriously. We're all happy we signed an Aussie punter. Punters are people too. When he nails his first big punt, I invite you to come do a shoey with me. -

Breaking: Butler CC LB Chavez Brown Commits to North Texas
jtm0097 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
I am thinking this guy is a diamond in the rough. He barely played defense last year, but showed flashes of athleticism in his spring tape. Quick at diagnosing plays, and getting to the ball carrier. He has 3 years of eligibility left, maybe they give him a year to develop into an FBS LB, and then next year he's in the LB rotation. Last year, he was listed at 6'3 180 pounds WR. If he is truly 225, that is impressive. -
